It shouldn't come as a surprise that Gwen Stacy's role in the new Spider-Man movie might not be more than just Peter Parker's love interest. Which is why the recently-taken set images of the franchise's reboot is not a shock at all:

Although I can't say I am not liking the 'Edward Cullen from Twilight' look that Peter has in these pictures, I can say that Emma Stone's look for Gwen Stacy just hit it's concrete high point since she is wearing every piece of clothing that makes Gwen Stacy memorable (For the exception of the typical black headband). On the same note I think it is noteworthy to mention that Peter Parker's comic book rival, Flash Thompson has been cast and has begun filming. Actor Chris Zylka (10 Things I Hate About You) is playing the football player who calls Spider-Man "Puny Parker".
