Character » Spider-Man appears in 17246 issues.
I'm glad. Hollywood has made people think that teenagers look like 20-30 year olds.
@dark_guyver: but him being a teen is needed for the stotyline its also one of spideys most notable features.

No, it should be Peter. Sony needs a hit so they will need to go with a character that is highly recognized. Miles is great but he still is not known like Peter.
I don't like them using a young actor. I can't take spiderman as a kid seriously and most teen actors can't act all that well

Peter was out of high school before the book hit 50 issues, it's so not.
I look forward to teen spidey, Tobey's was too serious. Andrew's was alright, but something at times felt off.
I think this kid will wind up being the best if he can pull off the wisecracks.

@zarius: Yes,it is pretty much everyone thinks of Spiderman as young, loud and entertaining. That's why he's always a teen in cartoons.

1. You don't speak for everyone, so kindly don't.
2. Doesn't disprove what I said. Peter has been an adult most of his life in the books that matter.
3. He was very much an adult in the 90s cartoon. So you're wrong there also.

Spider-Man is like 30.
@jonez120: Yes but the majority see him as funny a teen hero.
@zarius You can call me wrong if you like but they decided he will be a teen and it was the same at the beginning of the other two movies. You are the minority (Representing people who see him as an adult.) like how that one series you named is.That's not me "speaking for everyone" which i never claimed to be doing, pretty much means the majority, which is what we (Fans who prefer him as a adolescent.) are.

Agreed, main stream media makes Peter younger than he is to serve as a role to the marvel u vets as something of a next generation audience surrogate.

That's an interesting BS theory you have there, considering that 90% of Spider-MAN comic book stories in various titles over the years have been with Pete as a mature 28 year old. Looks like you're in the minority when it comes to knowing nothing about the original mainstream 616 Marvel Universe, or the "Amazing Spider-Man" title which for decades was the benchmark title with a progressive adult Spider-Man.
Without the mainstream "Amazing Spider-Man"title, there would never have been secondary offshoot animations or an (all ages title like "Marvel Adventures") representing people like yourself who see him as a funny kiddies hero. You can prefer an adolescent Spider-Boy all you like, but you are really just looking at it with tunnel vision rather than accepting the fact that a 28 year old Spider-Man has been around a lot longer.
Of course the movies are going to start with Spidey as a teen, especially now that Marvel Studios are going to bring a genuine Spider-Man film to the screen. It makes sense in the MCU to start with Spidey's high school years as it wasn't addressed properly under Sony.
IMO, after the first trilogy of Spider-Man films in High School, I think Marvel Studios will move into the College years and eventually the adult years. That makes far better sense from a character development point of view especially when considering the cinematic narratives of a shared universe.

LOL, yeah because when I started reading Spider-Man at 10 years of age, it was really important to me that he should be younger, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to relate to him as an older character and I wouldn't have enjoyed the stories and artwork - NOT.
Your silly statement does not ring true for generations of readers past. Why do you think future generations should only relate to a young goofy Spider-Man??? - attention deficit disorder maybe??? There is no reason why Marvel cannot publish both a teen and mature Spider-Man to suit all fans. Stop hijacking the ASM title with fantasies of goofy "Ultimate Spider-Boy" and get ready for Marvel to publish a 28 year old Spider-Man in future animations and movies. It's gonna happen.

@magnetic_eye: Toby Maguire was an adult Spider man so it has already happened,I agree with you on your first reply about them showing him progress into a better hero, that's the best thing they could do.I wasn't talking about readers specifically as they aren't the only people who matter casual fans matter too,if they aimed it at a specific audience they'd earn a lot less.I like Teen Spider man and Adult (current) Spider man equally if it wasn't for the change we'd miss out on Miles who is another great Spider man. I'd watch regardless of his age i'm just defending the choice that makes sense imo.

Not read every comment on here so sorry if i'm repeating someones point but I seen a lot of people disappointed we weren't getting an older spider-man but if you think about it, it wouldn't make much sense as he's coming into the MCU. Like why have shield or anyone never spoke of a guy swinging round NY and where the hell was he when the chitauri were blowing stuff up

You wanted Dylan O'Brien for the role? That's cool, I actually wanted Charlie Rowe for the role. I thought he would fit the Parker / Spidey mold much better than Tom Holland. Charlie certainly looks more like Peter Parker. In a way I'm glad though as "Homecoming" seems to be a movie NOT for longtime ASM Spider-Man readers but instead pandering to the "Ultimate Universe" title with a forced diversity agenda.

Just bumping this to reflect on how perfect the casting really was.
Not better than this #Dylan4Spidey
