Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, which he could have prevented, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became the Amazing Spider-Man!

It was announced some time ago that J. Scott Campbell would be drawing a Spider-Man series.  We're still waiting.  DMC just brought this to my attention.  Marvel has announced a first look at August's Spider-Man titles.  You can see that the cover for Amazing Spider-Man #601 features the artwork he had on display when I last interviewed him at Wonder-Con this year.  I was under the impression that the art was for his upcoming mini-series.  Looks like we still have to wait.  But at least we get to finally see the cover on a comic.

I really like the cover, but I wonder why they are bring Mary Jane back into the mix after doing such a major change to his life style to get rid of her.

Maybe cause of all the b*tching that people have been doing ever since they removed her from the picture.

As long as they don't get back together or do anything romantic together, I'm cool with it.

She's already made a few appearances in Brand New Day.  Quesada has said from day one that they could get back together.  The main reason for the change was to deal with the marriage.  He's always said they could end up dating again.

but on top of that, the artwork looks pretty fancy

That is true, but I don't know. I figured that after the split up they wouldn't be all romantic with each other for a good while. But according to the preview that could change.

Why not the romance? it makes a nice change from all the violence, and add a bit more realism to the characters. I'd like to see a conflicting love story. Perhaps a triangle or something. Keep her out of the picture just for a bit longer.

Somebody wrote on MJ's sofa. I think the issue is about finding out who did it. My bet is the Kingpin.

Because they wasted all this time getting Peter away from MJ, throwing them back together after just over a year is not the best idea ever. Give Peter a new love interest or something, just keep MJ out of the dating picture for a while.

This cover is for #601, part of a 3-issue arch called "Red Headed Stranger". MJ's lookin good, the freckles are a nice touch I wonder if other artists will follow suit?

Don't know why I didn't think about this before but maybe the purpose of BND is to also, in a way, relive the early years of Peter and MJ's relationship, you know before the "I luv you's" and whatnot, you know when she was just the girl next door. It would be great for new readers who weren't around back then.

On the other hand maybe MJ has just become JoeQ's Ace in the Hole, bait if you will. When nobody's nibblin just throw MJ on the line to boost sales.

It was my understanding that the art was going to be used for the Cambpell Spider-Man project.  Here's some info on it.

There was something n the last issue or two about the current owner going bankrupt or something like that.  I know it had to do with a lot of the Mayor coverage and sensationalism.  The way it sounded in that issue it seemed like the days of the DB were soon to be gone and the old Bugle was coming back.

For a series called "Red Headed Stranger", it seems odd to me that there would be a giant picture of Peter and MJ hanging on the wall.  I mean that thing is friggin huge.

I agree. But not yet.

They only just split them up. Putting them right back together again now would make OMD seem even more ridiculous. Maybe next year, or the year after that. But not now.
