I always wondered this. I`ve seen many people on the internet claim that this show is a pile of sh!t and only has a nostalgia factor. Personally, I love the show, and everything about it. I don`t mind any of the censoring at all, and I think it`s one of the greatest animated shows ever imo. What do you guys think? Is nostalgia all there is going for it, or is it a fantastic show without it?
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17243 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Is Spider-man TAS fueled on nostalgia?
much of it is nostalgia. i enjoyed watching it when i was a kid and less so as an adult. i wouldnt recommend spiderman tas to non spidey fans, but i have recommended spectacular spider man as that show can appeal to any fan of animation and good story telling.
It's a little bit of both really. There's some very interesting stories (Alien Costume, Neo-Geneic Nightmare, Madame Web, Partners In Crime, Spider-Wars), but the censorship is far too great and the action is at a bare minimum as a result. I'll always cherish it because it was a big part of my teenage years, but for a better tv show with better character development and action try Spectacular
The problem is that it came during the same time the amazing Batman Tas came out, sure both have huge nostalgia in them.
But Batman was just a superior cartoon.
I mean there is people that says that JLU was better that Young Justice and Teen Titans.
Nostalgia is one hell of a drug.
Alot of shows we grew up watching are fueled with nostalgia.
I mean there is people that says that JLU was better that Young Justice and Teen Titans.
And they would be right.

Well... JLU is better then Young Justice.
Yes. Looking back now, some of the story elements, such as pacing, characterization, and the constant inner monologues from Peter, can be rather grating. But the voice acting still holds up for the most part. To this day, I can't imagine Kingpin sounding like anyone else except for the late Roscoe Lee Browne.
No. Sure there is a nostalgia factor. There are a few flaws that are more obvious now but it's still a good show. The characterizations seem too mostly be grounded too me. The show is just fun. Which is what superheroes should be above all else fun. They should entertain you. I purpose that if there wasn't anything too the show it wouldn't have any nostalgia.
I personally didn't grow up with the show (I grew up in the 2000s with cartoons such as Teen Titans, Code Lyoko, Pokemon, etc.). When I watch the show, I really don't understand the appeal. I can understand the appeal with other '90s cartoons like X-Men and Batman, but I've never understood the hype over the '90s Spider-Man cartoon. I found the characters and plots pretty boring. I'll take Spectacular Spider-Man over Spider-Man: The Animated Series any day.
I watched the 20th anniversary reunion last night, I thought the surprise guest at the end was touching. Anyway great show, but Spectacular is still better, I wished it had as many episodes as TAS though.
