Throughout the 90's and early into the 2000's, yeah Spider-Man was my favorite. I was primarily a Marvel reader in the early 90's and with the McFarlane series Spidey was tops. He hasnt been a favorite for a long time. And currently I have too many favorites to list one.

Wonder Woman is my favorite. Then a constantly shifting order of Superman, Superboy, Wolverine, Captain America, Gambit, Ultimate Captain America, X-23, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Psylocke, Carol Danvers, Vegeta, and then the various Spider-Men.

He can be violent and dark but not Punisher dark. So yes I recommend reading it, he has some of the best gritty and dark noir style stories you'll ever find.But by all means stay away from the current series.It's not dark compared to how DD used to be and it's filled with lame swashbuckling humor,it's like reading a bad super hero sitcom. He isn't my favorite hero (barely outside my top 10) but of the big three, Spider-Man, Batman and Superman, I like him the best.

..my favourite character is the Hulk, but Spidey is one of a roster of characters below Hulk who I would consider to be my favourites. My order changes frequently but Spidey would be up there with Wolverine, Flash, Green Lantern and Superman at the moment as my very favourite characters after Hulk. , Batman, Wonder Woman, Magneto and Daredevil make up my current top 10 character list...TBH I am not an out and out one character man, I follow a lot of characters who I have grown up with since childhood.

Spiderman (when written properly) is my favorite Marvel superhero. While Batman is my favorite DC superhero.
