As one of the most complicated stories in the Amazing Spider-Man series, I was wondering what everyone else thinks it should have gone.

i woulda liked if the scarlet spider was the real peter and stayed as the spider man permantly and peter and mj live happily ever after, and their child became spider girl

would have left Ben as the real Peter

kept clone Peter alive and a major role as the new Ben Riley

Kaine disfigured and crazy would have roamed the city in this Kraven/Venom like creature. unable to work with any other villain but resting(since a failed clone) between attacks on Spider Man

I really love that hoody and mix with Kaine's new suit would kill

I would have:

• Kept Ben Reilly as the clone but kept the initial confusion until proven by Reed Richards almost right away. The back and forth on that was just dumb.
• Eliminated Seward Trainer right away. Why anyone thought he was credible is beyond me.
• Kept Scarlet Spider identity alive and well, with his own solo missions and develop rogues
• Both Peter and Ben would be operating in NYC. Ben's comic would be more focused on carefree, dating, total freedom, etc. Peter's would be on balancing the responsibilities. Both would 'long' for what the other had (of course).

Im ok with how it turned out (even though i didnt read it). I think i would've let Pete use Ben's costume afterwards and mightve kept the baby.

Here's the first few things I would've done. first of all confirm Ben's the clone. shorten the length down quite a bit because that seems to be the major thing that dragged it down. Finally I would've either ended it with Ben being the new Spider-Man and Peter mentoring him or have him move to a place apart from New York and have his own supporting cast.

shorten the length, have Ben be the clone and be alive and have baby Mayday survive as well. I would've probably moved Ben to another city and be the scarlet spider there and kept Peter as spidey...also, have the Jackal's plans make some sense.

At the time this would have been an unfathomable idea to me, but in retrospect I think I agree to be honest.

Now that we know that Marvel were dead-set on making Spider-Man appear younger and single regardless, and that Pete/Mary Jane never really had any hope of carrying on as they were, they'd might as well have had Ben fully change his name to Pete, and original Pete go off with Mary Jane to live happily ever after in another city, returning every now and then to help out.

It would've been incredibly difficult to pull this off though, they would've needed to surround Ben with classic characters, maybe start something up between him and Black Cat quickly, rekindle friendship with Betty, as well as introducing new characters etc etc.

In regards to a less drastic way of changing things, they needed to just finish it far, far earlier, create fewer clones and red herrings, have Seward shown to be a liar very quickly, probably not killed Doctor Octopus, not brought back Norman, cut the trial out.

well i kinda like this version

it was awesome and wish it was in continuity - it was a 6 part mini series debuting in 2009 and I recommend it
