No more "I'm so cool" emo / hipster Andrew Garfield. It needs to be someone new. Someone who can nail all aspects of the Peter Parker and Spider-Man character traits. Mark Ruffalo is the third incarnation of the Hulk and it's great. I actually preferred Ed Norton, but Mark plays the role of Bruce Banner well.

If the Spider-Man film rights revert back to Marvel, there should be no ties to Sony's version at all. Marvel will hire a better director, better scriptwriters and an all new cast. I would also hope that Marvel steer right away from another teenage Spidey flick and actually deal with a mature 28 year old Spider-Man.

Hopefully one day when MARVEL STUDIOS procure the film rights, we’ll see a more realistic mature adaptation based on the original mainstream comic book title “Amazing Spider-Man” depicting the life and adventures of Peter Parker the MAN & his alter ego Spider MAN.

Andrew Garfield should be retained, and the ASM verse be fused with the MCU verse (in broad strokes) sort of like Hulk and Incredible Hulk seem to be. Though I could see Logan Lerman, though if they do I hope they do a shout out to the Percy Jackson series (Sure the movies were sub-par, but it would be too good to miss. After all, they are both New York based heroes and snark a lot)
