If the movie fails like Spider-Man 3, and is bad with the critics and the box office, what happens to the movies? You think it'll just carry on, or another reboot?
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17246 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
If Amazing Spider-Man (2012) Fails.......What Happens Next?
We'll get "The Spectacular Spider-Man", then if that fails, "The Sensational Spider-Man", and so and so fourth until finally, "The Amazing Bag-Man" :P
@comicdude23: For the record, Spider-Man III did not fail with critics. It especially did not fail at the box office. It has a rating of 63% at the film review website, Rotten Tomatoes. That's a fresh rating, meaning more critics liked it than disliked it. It broke records on opening day. To date, it has made more money than either of the prior two Spider-Man films. In fact, it's made more money than any other film based on a Marvel property. The only people that think that this film is a failure are comic book fans. They didn't get the Venom they wanted. They didn't like the dance number. Spider-man didn't crack any jokes. Kirsten Dunst wasn't pretty enough to be Mary Jane. So on & so forth. Despite all those grievances, the fans still came out to see the movie. Just like they'll come out to see this next one.... and the one after that.... & the one after that. Spider-Man is the biggest money maker in Sony's arsenal. They're not going to stop making Spider-Man movie for a long... long... time. If ever.

Hopefully, if it fails Sony will give up and give the rights back to Marvel so they can make a good Spiderman movie.i think it will still be good (and trust me, it aint gonna fail), but i wouldnt mind if marvel studios made it instead so he could be more involved with the avengers characters and such
i hope that marvel can get the rights so that we can get a CAPTAIN AMERICA/SPIDERMAN, IRONMAN/SPIDERMAN,THOR/SPIDERMAN,HULK/SPIDERMAN team up movies...i mean seriously, if the spidey movie fails (which i doubt actually, i have high hopes for it), then i want spidey to join the marvel movie universe

I agree. The only failure was on Sony for giving Raimi an unreasonable deadline and less creative control, so it seems the fourth installment would have already been released and fans would have complained either way. The reboot will do all right.
If it fails ASM #2 will end with MJ (Kristen Dunst) waking up and walking over to the shower and once the curtain is pulled back... it's Peter Parker (Toby McGuire. )
good thing it won't fail.
As much as we hated SM3, it was one of the highest grossing superhero films of all time. Definitely not a fail in Sony's book.
Besides, Sony already went and picked a date for the sequel. They know people are gonna see it, reboot or not.

Very nicely put indeed but the fact remains that it dissapointed the core fan-base. The producers took too many liberties on changing aspects of the story and i don't think i really have to say anything about Harry's version of the Goblin. As for the upcoming film, i'll wait for some more footage but I'm already put off by the altered costume. I mean if they want a reboot thus show the character's creation all over again they might as well stay true to the image of such an iconic character as Spidey. We' ll see....
But it won't fail, Spiderman 3 didn't fail it made more then triple it's budget at the the Box Office. The majority of comic book movies do fairly well, and Spider-Man won't be any different because people know Spider-Man and love him.
And the studio is already having the sequel's script being written, it will continue.
