    I'm actually a big Spider-Man fan. I've read Ultimate Spider-Man and Miles Morales. I'm currently reading The Amazing Spider-Man comics and I'm up to issue #131 but I've noticed most issues are just 'filler issues'. I really want to catch up to Superior Spider-Man. So is there a good place to jump ahead to in The Amazing Spider-Man comics? I've been hearing 'Brand New Day' but I tried and I felt lost with most of the characters. Is there a good place to start possibly before Brand New Day? I just want to get past some of these filler issues, which I love, but I'd rather catch up and then go back and read them. I really appreciate this, thank you!!

    I'm just going to copy this from the other thread, its a list of major stuff that happens, my favourites are bolded

    I got pretty fed up during Gerry Conway's run as well, a lot of it is just silly, and repetitive IMO, Spidey also seems weaker.

    I think the Death of Gwen Stacy is by far the best thing he ever wrote for Spider-Man.

    ---------------------------------------------

    Roger Stern's run is one of the more well loved ones, so you can jump to there, following on from that Tom Defalco's run starts off really good, but goes into meltdown towards the end (apparently lots of arguments going on with editors behind the scenes).

    J. M Demateis' run on Spectacular is interesting, more psychology focused, attempts to be more "mature"

    David Michelinie's run is consistently solid.

    I personally started my catching up on Amazing Spider-Man with JMS's run. From there to OMD to Superior. I guess you could also start off with OMD but the few first stories are kind of 'meh' so it's up to you.

    @collinharn:

    J. Michael Straczynski's run,starting Amazing Spider-Man issue 471 is a great start to the Amazing comics.Excellent writing,and the "fill-ins" are not needed to understand the story.
    And then go on.
    I started just like you,for me,Spider-Man was only Ultimate,and then i was searching for an Amazing "door" to enter,and i found this.

    I will call the Spider expert

    @punyparker your knowledge is needed.

    I swear to God,i'm blushing.

    Also, its best to stop reading Amazing ~1992 as Editorial started to make an extreme mess of things around then, and you get loads of over-long cross-over events and retcon after retcon due to lack of Editors providing any kind of guiding force or plan.

    Spectacular was good up until 1993, mainly due to Dematteis doing his own thing.

    If you just want to jump all of classic Spider-Man to get current, get Brand New Day and move onwards from there, Brand New Day is effectively a reboot to Spider-Man in all but name anyway.
