Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, which he could have prevented, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became the Amazing Spider-Man!
Spider-man is a 10-15 tonner under normal conditions depending on the writer. When he is pressed, bloodlusted or exerting himself he's most likely above the 20ton mark.
The guy's strong enough to stagger the Hulk. Problem is, he holds back so much so often it's difficult to gauge an upper range of his strength. The best feats have already been posted, save that one where he was trapped under a great deal of debris with water pouring in, and managed to lift it. Putting him on average judging from his high showings? I'd personally put him at about 30-40 tons when not holding back, but also not bloodlusted. When he's angry, I'd jump that up to about 50-60, 80 max. Naturally, he's only getting stronger as he gets older. And when you factor in how fast he is in addition to his strength, he actually hits even harder than that.

I agree, perhaps even a little more above the 20 ton mark.

I think 80 tons maximum is pushing is it a little too far. >.< He'd be owning most of his enemies if he had that kind of strength.

We don't really know his full stength, because when Ock became Spidey he took Scorpions jaw off with one punch, and Otto said that all the years we have seen Spider-Man fight he must have been holding back. He was probably holding back because he was afraid that he wouldn't control his strength and kill somebody. So we cannot be sure about the limit of his power.
Spider-Man is really strong but they nerfed his power after one more day so it's hard to judge. Pre one more day he could throw cars pretty long distances. Although he may be un-nerfed at this point because in ASM 694 he was able to land a plane on his back. The Mass x The Speed must have made that feel like 100 tons AT LEAST.

@Lvenger: @sumafatrider: I think he's listed officially between 20-30 tonner. He almost always restrains himself in battle, so 20-30 tons could be off, given the equation of adrenaline rush + life threatning = ? tons then you could add revenge + blood lust to that equation =?? tons. Spidey has been pushed over the edge a few times, remember the whole Morlun thing? Superior Spiderman/Spock even said he had no idea how much power Peter had and admitted he'd been holding back all this time, so i guess you can kind of guage it from there.
