I give it 1-2 years, there's a huge backlash by fans due to this break up. I read on another forum that some dude heard a rumor that after the Skrull Invasion, there's going to be a major story arc dealing with Mephisto. All our problems might be solved then.

JQ actually hates that marriage. So it is actually a possibility that he wants to leave it this way. Spidey doesn't really whine about her that much, you might be thinking of the movie. He whines about his Aunt May more in the comics lol. I'm sort of intrigued on what they plan to do with Gwen Stacy though.

I Think a big twist should be that after all this with him and MJ being destroyed Aunt May dies of a heart attack or something so it was all for nothing .
