There's been rumblings over actors in the running to play Harry Osborn in the next Spider-Man movie. Director Marc Webb has revealed the actor via his Twitter account.

You're probably familiar with DeHaan from Chronicle and Lincoln. He's joining Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone as well as Shailene Woodley (Mary Jane) and Jamie Foxx (Electro). The movie is currently in pre-production and there hasn't been too much information released, aside from the updates in casting.

As the pieces are starting to fall in place, in terms of the cast of characters, it won't be long until everyone begins speculating on the direction of the sequel. It's already been lightly thrown around that the third movie could head towards the Death of Gwen Stacy storyline. We'll have to wait and see if there's any truth to that comment.

@Omega Ray Jay: I quite enjoyed it. I feel like they did a good job justifying the found footage aspect of the movie in a way that makes sense, and the story, action, and characters were all solid.

Interesing...i suppose. I dont know about Jamie Foxx being cast, but i will be seeing this movie when it is released. All judgements held.

Seems like a good enough cast for Harry, I'm still hoping that the Foxx/Electro thing is just one bad joke..

They should have Black Cat (Felicia Hardy) in the sequel, just saying.

Interesting choice. I think Anton Yelchin would make a great Harry Osborn!

@Omega Ray Jay: Hair dye?

I can't judge this guy as i haven't seen him act in any films i have watched, but still it's going to be hard to live up to James Franco's strong performance.

The death of Gwen Stacy story arc would be a cruel joke considering the end to the last movie... Peter needs some serious redemption in his character development first, if that's going to happen...

All right! Harry being in it means we'll probably see Norman, which means we get to see SPIDER-MAN vs GREEN GOBLIN!

Indeed. But at this point he is going to get typecast as the "troubled teen in dysfunctional relationship with his dad" :P

Chronicle was ass, but he did a decent job. Do I like him as Harry? NO!

#28 Posted by _Zombie_ (9615 posts) - 6 months, 15 days ago - Show Bio

I like it.

And really, I'd take him over James Franco's Harry any day.

So they are serious about Jamie Foxx? 0_0

DeHann sort of has that DiCaprio squint. He's not my first choice, but as a decision of getting bigger star power, I don't mind Jaime Foxx as Electro. Shortly after he's going to be Django with Tarantino, he'll be the President in the next Roland Emmerich, so this line of roles is probably keep going. My real gripe at first was his age; I always envision Electro as a misguided young man who uses the inconvenience of super-powers as a justification to commit heinous acts, but that can still work as an older man burdened by a long, wasted life of failure and regret.

I actually anticipated The Death of Gwen Stacy would be used in this next movie. I predicted the sequel would be set in the college years, where peter meets Harry as his roommate and becomes conflicted between Gwen and MJ. Some might argue the inevitability of Gwen's fate could make the ending anti-climatic, but they could say the same for Uncle Ben, and Martin Sheen's performance is one of the biggest highlights of the last movie. We as an audience is meant to learn to not only care but deeply appreciate the romance between these two (And I hope they can further what that romance really is; they did make a lot of googily eyes, but hopefully they can deepen what the attraction really is), thus making the ending satisfyingly bittersweet. With that, we can end the film with MJ consoling Peter, and carry it on from there.

As you can tell, I'm a fan of this reboot, or at least more of the potential to it.

Fox is a guarantee??? I love Fox, but as Electro???? Electro is just a thug. Better used in his debut in Ultimate Spider-man as a fired goon for a bigger villain. As long as the movie is tho, what ever. I won't bitch til I see it.

#34 Posted by EvanTheMexiJew (78 posts) - 6 months, 15 days ago - Show Bio

Electro's appearance in this movie will hopefully confirm the rumor that the creators will pull an "Avengers" move with the Secret Six.

I know Gwen is supposed to die. I know it's canon. I know she's one of the most iconic deaths in comics - but I really, really hope they aren't planning on going with the death of Gwen Stacy storyline. But the more I think about it, the more likely it seems. It was a huge moment in Spider-man comics, and people who don't know the comics the way comic-book fans do would be shocked to see that bridge scene on screen. But it would suck for the Gwen fans like me who loved the character in both the comics and Emma Stone's version to have her death brought to the big screen. I honestly wish this re-telling of Spider-man could just let Gwen live, like an alternate universe Spider-man story.

I kind of want to see her death in the 2nd, and have 3 be a redemption story, but 3 works too.

As for Dehaan, I'm quite pleased, especially after seeing the incredibly emotional performance he put on in Chronicle a while back.

There were a few other scenes that were a ton more powerful than these, but the titles of the videos spoil things.

Nice, I for one liked Chronicle and thought he was the best actor in it by far. I'm calling it right now, Damian Lewiswill be Norman. I just like him as an actor and think he would be good for the part, but also he even looks like he could be Dehaan's father.

Ithink they should wait a while to reboot it. I'd try to get the rights to Daredevil and focus on him. The Amazing Spider-man should just be ignored, but I wouldn't reboot it since it was just made.

#45 Posted by Mr_Faraday (23 posts) - 6 months, 15 days ago - Show Bio

I dont know why people are doubting that Gwen will die, the end of the first movie basically straight up said she will. I think she will probably die at the end of 2, they will build up a friendship between Pete and MJ throughout the movie and then she will be there for him when Gwens gone. Electro isnt really the main baddie, hes just going to be a distraction for Pete while the real bad guy lurks in the shadows.

Yeah I was actually being sarcastic. I think now that they've got the origin story out of the way (everyone's main problem with the first movie), that they can focus on telling awesome new spiderman stories. Not capitalizing on what they've done with the reboot would be wasteful.

I have no problem with retelling an origin story. But do it good. Don't make a movie about a character as good as Spiderman as bad as that.

Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion, but I still think if you like the character so much that you shouldn't dismiss this movie before it's even released.
