Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17241 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Garfield's interpretation of Spider-Man

I always thought Tobey Maguire was better for Peter Parker. Garfield was in a better movie though.
Sums it up for me.

He is a douche, hipster, rubbish spider-man. Good actor as a teenager albeit hipster, I did not like him as spider-man PERSONALLY. But he is a good actor, I hope he goes far.
I think he acted to stereotypical Emo/hipster to be peter Parker. I really hated that.
Tobey Maguire was worse in the emo department
Toby was rubbish compared to Garfield. Garfield nailed Spidey's funny wise guy persona and the timid shyness of Peter Parker. Plus, I am a straight man, but for him and only him, I would turn gay

imo he was a better spiderman than tobey
Way better.

I totally agree on this one, except, that last sentence.. Anyway, I think Toby played a much too serious Spider-Man. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the movies but now that I look back at the way he portrayed SM, it's a little off.
@mewmdude77: He didn't steal the webbing, if you pay close attention, you can see he ordered a package from Oscorp and he didn't exactly defy Captain Stacy, he believes he and Gwen can be together and he can still protect her. When she dies, he'll learn that he was wrong and learn more about responsibility(he's only a teenager, he makes mistakes). He's not a punk, I don't what why you think he is and you do realize that guy wasn't serious, right?
Dudes.....if someone could find me this pic, without the giant spider and the giant spiderman head....i would be much obliged....(i dont have money so....dont expect anything...)

Honestly i laughed for like 10 seconds on this!!
Well they needed to make it diffrent from the past films but not confuse it with the cartoon@Jonny_Anonymous: That's why I hate the film.
Call it THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN.
Base on the ultimate.
Your idiots marvel.
@Pyrogram@Jonny_Anonymous: Why name it 616 and use ultimate? Cinematic Verse is becoming ultimate.
Because Ult Spidy is more modern and easier to market@Jonny_Anonymous: Why name it 616 and use ultimate? Cinematic Verse is becoming ultimate.
@Pyrogram: Because it's not exactly Ultimate Peter Parker and well if it was we would have to just get ready for him dying.
About the movie, it was reasonable in my opinion, but they seriously need to stick a lot more to the comics and the fact that we're not probably going to see Spidey teaming up someday because of the companies is a shame.

@Jonny_Anonymous: Why not name it ult then?
Because there is already two comics and one cartoon named that, all unrelated so it would be confusing to add a film to the mix
You know I hear a lot of people calling ASM Peter a hipster. Yet none of these people actually seem to know what a hipster is. Peter isn't one in the film. I watched the movie again yesterday, and I still really enjoyed it. He was great as Spider-Man and pretty good as Peter Parker. Once he becomes Spider-Man that's when he really shines, before that he stutters a bit too much. Andrew Garfield is the Superior Spidey!

I loved how he nailed Spider-Man body language and used spider-like movements in the movie. Tobey? He was a guy dressed in a silly red and blue costume and fought crime. Garfield was the guy with spider genes in his blood!

Hipsters are the new "emo" of this decade.
I think it wasn't that bad but it wasn't Peter Parker from the comics we all know (Not even from Ultimate) I don't feel like any of the movies are that good when compared with the movies after all I don't get why do directors have to change stuff. Why can't they just copy-paste everything from the comics and get it in a movie (Well not exactly because that would mean clone saga and a lot of other stuff, but just keeping the good stuff)

I thought he played Spider-man brilliantly but Peter Parker not so much.
This^
He really didn't sound like Peter or Spider-Man at all though and he wasn't very funny not to mention extremely awkward. In fact, Peter's whole characterization was really just plain off...why does he skateboard for example?
I think this video is spot on:
All in all though i thought it was a really good movie and I thought it was just as good as Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (2002). Andrew Garfield was actually believable as a high-school kid unlike Tobey Maguire who really only needed to be a high-schooler for the first part of the first movie anyways. Spider Man 2 is still my favorite of all the Spider-Man movies and Spider-Man 3 is still my least favorite. Now if only they could fix the costume...
