Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
If you're going to reboot something you should start at the beginning, that's why. But that doesn't mean they are going to only do his origin, or present it in the same way that Sam Raimi did.
And since that part of his story was only told once before I don't have any issue with a new take on it.
Director Marc Webb said in EW: "Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that's a Spider-Man story we haven't seen before."
