Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
JMS by far. Bendis is seriously overrated and Slott has grievously lost his edge in recent years. JMS delivered a consistent and quality Spider-Man series in the past decade that, whilst it has some bumps, works as a great run in Spider-Man's history.
JMS for me. I'm not going to say he was perfect but I prefer him to Slott and Bendis mainly worked in an alternative universe with less restraints. JMS did have some great ideas. The main one that stands out is Aunt May finding out Peter is Spider-Man.
Bendis.....but if Slott didn't blue ball me in this last issue (the Anna Maria I am pregnant quote) I may have made a major jump to the Slott camp. But he killed it a panel later so he remains in last place on this list.
