Thought i'd do a sort of faceoff between the Spider-man artists as there's been some stunning pencil art recently. Simply say who your favorite out of the two are (the pictures are just for reference. You are not basing your choice on the images I posted but the whole issues they've done) and it will continue with two more after this one.

Round 1:

Giuseppe Camuncoli:

Vs

Stefano Caselli:

I love them both and I like how Camuncoli is doing every character he has done so far but Caselli for me.

#3 Posted by ShirEPanjshir (581 posts) - 8 months, 4 days ago - Show Bio

Love both, but Caselli's art has a more vibrant & dynamic feel to it. Therefore I vote Caselli!

What they said

#7 Posted by VeganDiet (478 posts) - 8 months, 4 days ago - Show Bio

Casselli. Camuncoli's art is great as well, but very, very occasionally, a few of his characters will end up look a little off. Plus, Casselli is one of my favorite comic artists period. Everything looks so vibrant and flashy.

#8 Posted by WaveMotionCannon (2523 posts) - 8 months, 4 days ago - Show Bio

Casselli FTW. He's that dude.

#9 Posted by spidey 15 (17756 posts) - 8 months, 4 days ago - Show Bio

Both are awesome but i prefer Caselli! Much more unique art imo.

Also you could later add Checchetto and Siqueira. They have done their work on ASM and i do believe they're great.

Giuseppe Camuncoli

I love them both but i'm going to vote for Giuseppe Camuncoli because I love how he does action scenes!

Caselli

#14 Edited by Strider92 (11286 posts) - 8 months, 3 days ago - Show Bio

Caselli seems to be leading at the moment. I'll give it another few hours and then put the next 2 up.

#15 Posted by Galactic_Man (158 posts) - 8 months, 3 days ago - Show Bio

I. Hate. Caselli.

#16 Posted by Strider92 (11286 posts) - 8 months, 3 days ago - Show Bio

Caselli wins Round 1. Honestly I thought that would have been closer O.O.

Round 2:

Terry Dodson:

Vs

Mike Deodato Jr

#17 Posted by VeganDiet (478 posts) - 8 months, 3 days ago - Show Bio

Dodson. Deodato's Spidey is too bulky looking.

#18 Posted by VeganDiet (478 posts) - 8 months, 2 days ago - Show Bio

I want this thread to not be dead

#19 Posted by guttridgeb (4346 posts) - 8 months, 2 days ago - Show Bio

Mike Deodato Jr

#20 Posted by spidey 15 (17756 posts) - 8 months, 2 days ago - Show Bio

I love both but maybe i'll go for Dodson. I prefer his shading, slightly a bit more and that is the only reason.

:)

Dodson. Ftw.

#22 Posted by deadpoolspidey877 (113 posts) - 8 months, 1 day ago - Show Bio

deodato wins easily

We have a tie thus far.

Too hard for me to pick

#28 Posted by PaperDemon (242 posts) - 8 months, 4 hours ago - Show Bio

deodato jr.

#29 Edited by DarkKnightDetective (6732 posts) - 8 months, 4 hours ago - Show Bio

Dodson

#30 Edited by Strider92 (11286 posts) - 7 months, 28 days ago - Show Bio

Well looks like i'll have to call that round a draw Dodson and Deodato got equal votes.

Gonna go for 2 of the big guns this time!

Round 3:

Mark Bagley:

Vs

Todd McFarlane

(seeing this pic makes me miss Spider-man's big eyes T.T)

#31 Posted by spidey 15 (17756 posts) - 7 months, 28 days ago - Show Bio

Todd is a pretty good artist( even though his faces kinda suck ) and he had a revolutionized style to how spidey is made, but i'll have to vote for Mark. He is by far the better artist imo and he makes a great spidey.

:)

#32 Posted by TDK_1997 (9673 posts) - 7 months, 28 days ago - Show Bio

I love them both and I can say that both of them made a great Spidey but I like Bagley's style more.

#33 Posted by VeganDiet (478 posts) - 7 months, 28 days ago - Show Bio

Bagley>>>>>>>.McFarlane.

McFarlane has done some great looking stuff, especially in his ASM run, but his people are just straight up ugly.

His people in his Hulk run looked way better than his recent work, i don't understand how suddenly they started looking more cartoonish.... :/

Mark Bagley

Macfarlane

#37 Posted by ChaosMarvel (871 posts) - 7 months, 27 days ago - Show Bio

I'll admit i'm slightly biased because I grew up with McFarlane's run so i'm going to say him because I L-O-V-E his style of drawing!

#38 Posted by VeganDiet (478 posts) - 7 months, 27 days ago - Show Bio

@ChaosMarvel: I don't think you have to worry about bias. I mean you're just picking who you like more. So bias is kind of essential.

#39 Posted by Eternal19 (1418 posts) - 7 months, 26 days ago - Show Bio

bagley

#40 Posted by thespideyguy (1454 posts) - 7 months, 23 days ago - Show Bio

I am only saying Bagley, because the paper they printed it on when Farlane drew Spidey sucked.

#41 Posted by Strider92 (11286 posts) - 7 months, 23 days ago - Show Bio

Seems Bagley won that round.

Next up are 2 "you either love em or hate em" Spider-man artists:

Round 4:

Humberto Ramos:

Vs

John Romita Jr:

#42 Posted by JimTheSurfer (555 posts) - 7 months, 23 days ago - Show Bio

Romita's the man.

#43 Posted by Duke_Nasty (1017 posts) - 7 months, 23 days ago - Show Bio

Romita.

McFarlane is the best this is fixed!

#44 Posted by VeganDiet (478 posts) - 7 months, 23 days ago - Show Bio

Like Ramos a lot, but Romita is just too great. So my vote is down for him.

#45 Posted by ZenTzen (43 posts) - 7 months, 23 days ago - Show Bio

Romita, his style really fits spidey comics

#46 Posted by TDK_1997 (9673 posts) - 7 months, 23 days ago - Show Bio

This is a hard one but Romita's run on Spidey was one of the best.

#47 Posted by guttridgeb (4346 posts) - 7 months, 23 days ago - Show Bio

John Romita Jr

#48 Posted by inkBot (47 posts) - 7 months, 22 days ago - Show Bio

Ramos and JRJR are my two favs so this is a toughie. Ultimately I'd go with JRJR though.

#49 Posted by MadeinBangladesh (2255 posts) - 7 months, 22 days ago - Show Bio

John Romita Jr

#50 Posted by SmashBrawler (3816 posts) - 7 months, 22 days ago - Show Bio

Romita. I can't stand Ramos' art.
