You've probably heard by now that AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is returning this April, and with that announcement comes another. Also coming out this April will be AMAZING-SPIDER MAN INFINITE COMICS, written by Joshua Fialkov (ULTIMATES,THE BUNKER) with the art of Juan Bobillo (SHE-HULK). Marvel.com interview Fialkov about the new series and the big opening story which is in 13 parts.

Cover to issue #1 via Marvel
Cover to issue #1 via Marvel

In this new Infinite series, Peter finds himself as a bank robber with no memory of who he is.

He’s in the process of robbing a bank, and doing so wearing a full body stocking. He finds out, in the process of the first installment, that he’s Spider-Man. According to the Daily Bugle, of course, Spider-Man is reportedly a menace, a bad guy. At this point he has no choice but to continue along with the scheme. If you remove identity and get to the core of who Peter Parker really is, is he a hero?... That’s the thing about Peter Parker. He’s such a great, gray, character. Everything done by [Stan] Lee and [Steve] Ditko, everyone in the early Marvel days, established Pete as a character that speaks to every single person on Earth. There’s not a single person who doesn’t feel like that, who hasn’t had that moment of opportunity... This is Spider-Man with all the great power, before he learned the whole great responsibility part. He hasn’t learned that yet. So, is that something that’s already inside him? Is that something that makes him who he is?

While Fialkov has written many different characters in the Marvel universe, including those in the Ultimate universe, writing Spider-man is a bit different for him.

You can put him in horrific situations, but it’s inherent in him to deal with things with a light touch. I think you see it in what Dan [Slott] did in that first chunk of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. He went through horrible times and managed to keep that can-do spirit going. Having that—what’s the word?— invincible personality, he can’t be stopped. He’s gonna keep working; keep grinding, no matter what. Yeah, it’s a drag. Yeah, it’s a bummer. But he knows that the only way to cope with it is to be Spider-Man.

Make sure to pay attention this April as everything in Peter's life changes. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN will return, and we'll see the debut of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN INFINITE, available for digital download.

What do you guys think of this new Infinite comic?

I dislike infinite comics but this might just pull me in. I thought it was going to be called Peter Parker: SpiderMan Infinite Comics? I guess they changed it. Regardless, the idea interests me.

I shall now call this version of Spidey Spider-Bourne. This looks like an awesome idea.

So in other words, they're pulling the same deal that they are with Marvel Knights: Hulk?

Sounds a little like what happened in Amazing Spider-Man #56, where Peter loses his memory and is convinced that he's actually a villain. I'm sure they'll be plenty of difference in the execution, but interesting similarity nevertheless.

This sounds more fascinating then the other Amazing Spider-Man comic in April. I'm going to take this ride, even if it will continue making me miss SpOck.

Ah, okay. I was kinda confused lol. But yeah, it definitely is a mouthful. But so is: Amazing Spider-Man Infinite Comics (Which I don't get why they'd call it AMS because they already have an AMS)

I'd love to read the next story arc if there is one. Just because i've seen this sort of memory loss plot done with spider-man maybe twice? At least once for sure in the 90's cartoon show.

It looks like this comic may tie into the new Amazing Spider-Man in that Peter doesn't know who he is because of his memories being killed by Doc Ock in Superior Spider-Man.

So...will we ever see printed versions of these? I'll gladly pay more for a comic book I can hold. It comes with the territory of 'collecting,' I guess.

I know that print comics eventually get re-printed in TPB collections; could this also be true for digital comics?

...man. I super hate the idea of digital comics.
