    Why does Spider-man have to make to "i love you" sign every time he shoots a web?

    As you can see from the diagram, the trigger would be rest on Spider-Man's palm, so that the two middle fingers can touch them... Spidey says it's so that he doesn't accidentely shoot is webs when in a fight, when he got the organic webbing, it would have been fairly silly to stop him doing it, since it's such a cliche.

    When you press your middle finger and ring finger together in to the middle of your hand and part of your inner wrist moves (go ahead, I'll wait) as you can see, in comics that is where the web would sprout from.
     
    In regards to the web shooters, he has to double tap the "trigger" to get web, that way it doesn't sprout when he punches someone.
     
    In regards to why he has to make the "I love you symbol" I would imagine, that the web shoots that way. With those two fingers pressed to his palm, the web would then be able to shoot between his pointer and pinky, allowing free, un-obstructed flow of web. Do you get what I mean?
