How has there not been a Respect Thread for the greatest hero of all time. Put all Spider-Man respect things here.
Spider-Man
Character » Spider-Man appears in 17241 issues.
Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider as a teenager, granting him spider-like powers. After the death of his Uncle Ben, Peter learned that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Swearing to always protect the innocent from harm, Peter Parker became Spider-Man.
Spider-Man Respect Thread
What's with these respect threads? They're nothing but image galleries. Satyrquaze has got a respect thread going that actually shows his character doing something, that's a good one. I think I'm going to have to make a Majestic Respect Thread.

Do it.

"http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/ctdrylie/spiderman.gif That counts as doing stuff right"HA! That dancing Spidey makes me laugh everytime.
Arrow, I know you are having fun and those are funny but this is suppost to be a respect thread. Anyways, this is one of my favorite Spider-Man scenes(Sorry I scanned them and did the best I could at doing it):
Spectrum says:
"hes overrated in my opinion, i mean what can his powers really do??"
what do you mean
i dont think his powers are that unique or powerfull
i dont have any evidence to back it up im sorry, im more into DC
i imagine him as the popular superhero every one recognises from the films an nothing else really, if he didnt have the spider gimmick who would he be, just any old superhero
He was the first teenage superhero. I mean, before him kids could only be the sidekick. Plus, his comics were great because his life was a mess, and pretty much he did not have it all together, unlike every other superhero that came before him who was all perfect and sheez-nit. I mean, plus, he's the original smartass. His webs aren't what make him great, his quips make him great.
Flash doesn't count, even though I think Jay Garrick is one of the coolest guys in comics. Definitely without question the best Flash, I believe. But, yeah, I can see how someone would get a little tired of the Web-Head. I mean, every three issues it's just him crying up in his room going, "I'm not being Spiderman anymore, boo hoo hoo," and throwing his costume in the hampster, then deciding he has to be Spiderman in the end...what I'm saying is, Spidey whines alot, and that can turn people off. However, I like him because at the end of the day after all the raving and complaining, he gets sh*t done. He is a hero, I don't think anyone can deny.

i don't think he wines all the time
That's because your a fanboy, Spiderman. I hate to break it to you, but you don't have a choice. You have to love everything that Spiderman does, every story arc, every gimmicky miniseries, every rendition of the character. But, trust me, we have to order the Webhead a Waamburger and some French Cries, then call a Waambulance for him afterward, because he bitches and moans and whines a lot for a superhero. Take it from a guy who is impartial as far as Marvel/DC is concerned...

okay i am a fanboy when its spiderman but there are i think one or two story arcs i didn't like
Gottheit says:
"which ones?"
i didn't like the whole ezekil thing can't spell his name not sure if thats a story arc
I think Spider-Man's a great hero, one of the most human characters around. Even though he has a lot of stuff going on in his life, he still deals with what he has to. That's alot more than a lot of people can claim. He's great. One of the best around. He's can pretty much define the word "Hero".

yea
Spectrum says:
""original smartass" ever heard of the flash buckeroo, but yeah what you said is true,i think hes a good superhero but not the best"
Were Jay Garrick or Barry Allen smartasses? I thought that all started with Wally, who was way after Spider-Man.
The Mantid says:
"Last Arrow says:"I respect that he is such a loser and some how has a big following"One word: Movies."
The only reason they made the movies was because he has such a huge fanbase.
Spidey does end up whining a lot, but the guy always has like 5 series going on at once and has never been on hiatus, as far as I know (except when Reilly took over). I wish comics were structured differently to put more into the stories so things don't get repetitive, but I think Spidey is the guy with the best reason to live. He's rather poor, has had to hide his identity from his family and is always brought back to being Spider-man because of his sense of responsibility. He knows things will get worse unless he does all he can. His gift is his curse.

I agree for the most part. I just don't think he's whining, I think he doubts himself more than anything like a lot of people do but he has a lot more reason to doubt himself.

not really hes strong yeah but his whole appearance is different from every other comic hero. the way he sits stands walks runs crawls and so on is unique to his character. i guess you could say its because of the spider thing but also his powers are rather unique too. awsome jumper, his agility, and the webs he uses(yeah mroe of a gadget than a power). thats what makes him a good hero. and the fact that hes a person who actually deals with everyday problems. a lot of characters dont ahve to worry about impressing the right person or keeping on good terms with them because their character simply doesnt have to deal with it, spiderman always seems to be having problems with his social life not just his hero life.
XD
