Well anyone who has seen the film will know that the reboot has focused quite a lot on the science/biology side and it got me thinking who could be adapted to really suit this vibe. My first thought was the Scorpion. I mean when you think about it he could be perfect but unfortunately that probably isn't going to happen as he has been used in the video game (which is meant to be in continuity with the film franchise).

So who else does that leave? Well to me that only leaves a few more that could really fit in with this new take.

Morbius:

Might seem like a very strange choice at first but i think he fits in with the current style. As we all know Morbius is Micheal's failed attempted to cure his blood disease. He could quite easily be integrated into Oscorp as a scientist much like Connors. The only thing they would have to do imo is stay clear of the Vampire side. Keep Morbius's design (gotta love that design above he looks pretty bat-like there) but rather than make him drink blood exchange it in for eating people or something along those lines as having a Vampire in a Spider-man movie probably wouldn't look right but a man with Bat-like qualities? That I could see.

Vulture:

Of course an old guy in a suit couldn't work well as a villain in the new franchise but how about the new Vulture? I'm pretty sure they could adapt Vulture to this franchise well by basing him off the new insane, murdering, cannibalistic version that has appeared more recently. The problem here would be finding a happy medium between tech and biology. That would be pretty hard to pull off.

Black Cat:

You could quite easily have her as a thief hired by a rival company of Oscorp who wants her to steal their tech and design's (perhaps even that equation Peter gave to Connors?). Alternatively you could go the same route as the other villains and have her as another bi-product of Oscorp's experimentation. I would not normally consider her as a character that should appear but Sony telling Beenox they couldn't use her in the games because they had plans makes me think it could happen. Problem is she's not exactly a villain so they may have to use her as a secondary villain. One reason I would like to see her is because of Garfield's interpretation of Peter. He gave Spider-man the exact amount of nervousness around women to make Black Cat's advances very funny to watch.

The Jackal:

I can almost hear people cocking rifles for even suggesting this but it could work. I'm not saying they go down the same route as the Clone Saga but Miles Warren does have all the qualities needed to be a good villain in this series. Gifted scientist, animalistic physicality and he's mad as a hatter. Having him as Oscorp's head scientist could probably work out quite well. I'm not sure how you could turn him from Miles Warren into the Jackal but if accomplished I think he could be a very good villain.

Honorable mentions: These are all characters i'd really like to see but I don't think can be successfully integrated into the new franchise.

They so need Black Cat in it. Gwen was nice in the movie, but the movie needed a bit more jazz. I think by bringing Felicia into it it could set up a good dynamic.

Any of those 4 would be pretty great to see. I agree that Black Cat couldn't be in a film on her own though. She's not exactly a villain so you'd need another character as the main antagonist.

I don't know - If they use Black Cat in a sequel, then non comic readers will go: Wasn't she in Dark Knight Rises, and DC fans will say: Look at this Catwoman rip-off... But other-villian-wise, I'd like to see Morbius - someone different.

Can they even get the rights to use other Spiderman characters? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Marvel will give the rights to anymore of their characters. So I think there stuck using the characters they already have the rights to.

@xybernauts: Sony owns everything related to Spider-man (including all his villains and supporting cast) so yes they can basically use anyone they want as long as they are from the Spider-man franchise.

i think Kraven would make a great choice as a second film is generally darker than the first. This is the guy that hunted down and "killed" Spider-Man and that could be a very cool move for the second film. If we take the game as franchise continuity, then I think they've hit on the cross-species angle enough. But with Kraven the idea could still be there. We all know Norman Osborn is still trying to save his life through elder Parker and Conners work. Sering how successful Spider-Man's transformation was, it would make sense he'd want Peter under his control and to be tested/disceted. So how to capture him? Hire the world's greatest hunter. In comes Kraven, who plays a game of cat and mouse with Peter as he tries to deal with a second villain (Vulture would be cool because of how scenes of swinging versus flying would look) but the game gets out of hand and we get a movie rendition of Kraven's Last Hunt (complete with Oscorp giving him a formula to boost his abilities). Definitely not a kids movie but it would be epic and really push the evolution of Peter's character. I also think it would be an interesting way to also do a movie version of The Other, where in his final minutes of life more of "the spider" emerges within him and he gets a bit of a strength boost as well as gaining organic webbing. I'm rambling now but that is roughly my idea. Now before we get into the "the Raimi films did organic webbing and people complained" track, let me larify a bit. I don't think organic webbing should replace webshooters. I think they should be combined. Spiders don't shoot out their web strings, they have to use movement and gravity to pull it out. So why not do the same thing with a film Spider-Man? Rather than let his arms push the string out itself, use the webshooters to act as a pressure system to draw out and expel the strand. That way it still makes sense that he can make all the varied patterns we're used to seeing Spider-Man construct but the natural webbing could be stronger than the synthetic stuff developed by Oscorp (and he also wouldn't run out which is something they didn't actually bring up in this film but could play a part in his defet by Kraven).

@Strider92. Are you sure about that? I just thought it was a little odd how everyone in the Amazing Soiderman movie had appeared somewhere in the Raimi's Spiderman. Technically they didn't introduce any new characters from the comics. That gives me the impression that Marvel won't be giving them the rights to anymore Marvel Comics characters including characters from Spiderman comics.

Black in the next movie would be great, I would love to see Morbius as well.

@xybernauts: I'm pretty sure about this as Rami had considered Morlun as a potential villain (thank god they stayed away from there!) and he was introduced to ASM fairly recently. I'll look it up though to double check but i'm pretty sure Sony owns the rights to all the villains.

Still haven't seen Amazing Spider-Man but I like a lot your choices about who should be the villain in the next movie.

My thoughts:

Possible villains:

Electro: Many asssumed it was him in the end credit scene, and he'd be a good villain. He could be part of a Sinister Six storyline.

Mysterio: Many assumed it was him in the end of the credit scene, he'd be a good villain, could lead into Sinister Six, and if they decide to kill of Gwen, they could have Mysterio be the villain afterword and he could taunt Peter about it.

Green Goblin: With all the Oscorp references and the inclusion of Gwen over Mary Jane, this should be obvious.

Vulture could work as a villain too, and I can see Black Cat being a minor villain.

Venom anyone?

Pretty sure, judging by the game, Otto Octavius, Venom, and/or Morbius are in for the big screen. Michael is mentioned as being Connor's understudy, who, while Connor was sure the secrets to regenerative research was in lizards, Michael was far more interested in the abilities of Bats. He also seemed to be far more willing to move forward with human testing than Connors was. As for Otto, he's mentioned as making the Scorpion hybrid by experimenting both with a Scorpions DNA, and for a little extra juice, a 'black ooze found attached to an Oscorp satellite'. Also, as mentioned above, a debatable crazy lady with white hair, a near fanatical love for Spidey, and a penchant for robbing banks known as Felicia Hardy was in the game as well, NOT Black Cat due to Sony stepping in and saying they had other plans.

I like the idea of Osborn hiring Kraven to capture Spider-Man so he can experiment on him and whatnot to help find a cure. Kraven ends up going a bit cuckoo, things get out of control, all the while Osborn's presence is felt throughout. He will be the true villain of Spidey 2, with Kraven just being the guy who gets punched. Then, in the third film, we can finally have the full on Green Goblin (Kraven ended up securing a sample of Peter's DNA before the film ended, allowing Osborn to cure himself and inherit the boys powers).

That's what I'd like to see, but I can't see the studio going for someone like Kraven. Realistically, I dunno honestly. Either way Black Cat needs to get in this somehow.

My dream for the second film would be to feature Peter getting the black suit. It would basically be based on the Ultimate version of Venom where Peter and Eddie's fathers created the symbiote in an attempt to find a cure for cancer (maybe this is what's killing Norman Osborn?). Peter would find an old photo of Eddie, reconnect with his childhood friend, come into contact with the black goo and BAM! we have black suit Spidey. The black suit would bring out the darker

aspects of his personality and this will make things interesting when he comes face to face with the man who killed Uncle Ben (you almost forget he never caught him in the first one!). It would also be cool to see Black Cat introduced in full costume as she would tempt a symbiote controlled Peter with a life free of responsibility. All this would obviously drive a wedge between him and Gwen and up the drama. Meanwhile Eddie Brock will be slowly driven to hate Peter and ultimately become Venom just in time for Act 3. Badass fight ensues, Brock leaves with the suit, Venom is established for his spin-off movie, and Peter is left to deal with the consequences of his actions while under the influence of the black suit and pick up the pieces of his relationship with Gwen.

It's rough but something along those lines.

Exactly, and they mentioned OSCORP about a billion times in the movie. It seems to me they'll bring the Goblin in and have Gwen killed in the second movie.

but in terms of who i'd like to see, hmmm. too early to bring in Goblin for me. I'd say Mysterio, maybe with Rhino as a minor.

I think Kraven would be better choise. Electro and Mysterio are more likely than not to turn into CG-campfest, and movie already set the tone for very visceral content. Morbius as well - hell, they integrated him into Spiderman TAS after all, it would be piece of cake to do the same. (actually, entire movie was very reminiscent of Spiderman TAS...)

Well, many people are saying that it's Morbius, Mysterio or Electro (In that order) .

I'd like to be Norman, but I think it's better for him to become the Goblin only in the third movie. They should develop his character in the second movie, and then in the third we may have an epic character and film, if they do everything right.

If I could choose between those three, Mysterio and/or Electro. I can see Mysterio as a great villian, and Electro, well, I liked him in Spider Man 2: Enter Electro, so If they do something like that or even better I think it would be nice. I don't know anything about Morbius, (I think he appeared in ASM game) so I can't say if he would be a good choice or not.

black cat and the kingpin

@thespideyguy: I don't think Sony can use Kingpin as Fox have him for Daredevil if I recall correctly.

This is the guy who played the credited as "Man in the shadows" Michael Massee so make your assumptions who he looks like. My bets are on Electro or Mysterio as they are the easier ones who could appear and disappear more edging to Electro as looks more like him and if it was Mysterio I'm pretty sure he would be in gold fish bowl costume. It would also be nice to see Osborn and/or Black Cat.

Mobius for the next film and then Green Goblin for the next, alongside Black Cat.

Make the relationship really stretched by Black Cat and then kill off Gwen.

I want to see either Green Goblin or maybe the Ultimate version of Carnage. Ultimate Carnage would fit perfectly with the film franchise because he is basically the combination of Peter Parker's blood with Curt Connors'. The only problem with having him as a villain is that he might be too similar to Venom from the third Spider-Man movie.

I say Jackal with a Spider Island story.

Would like to see either Electro or Mysterio for the sequel.

Wouldn't mind the idea of the whole Norman Osborn name dropping to be just a distraction, where the villain in the 3rd film is revealed as the Jackal.

ASM 2 - Electro. And if they decide to go with another villain, either Mysterio or Vulture. But Electro is the one I want more. He can cause blackouts and a fight between him and Spidey in Times Square would be cool.

ASM 3 - Green Goblin. With the Enforcers as hired goons.

I think it's too soon to have Black Cat after Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. People already consider her to be a Catwoman rip-off. And how vampire movies and TV shows are floating around these days anyway? Morbius should be one of the last villains even considered. Especially when more unique ones can be done.

Hence the reason I said don't make any reference to him being a Vampire or even needing to drink blood. Simply make him a Bat cross-species like Connors was a Lizard cross-species.

seems reasonable. If Green Goblin comes out hopefully they use the original costume. Not a similar metallic one from Raimi. Instead of putting Green Goblin they might replace him with Hobgoblin (it would be interesting). Gwen's death might be incorporated in the upcoming film (that would be interesting as well).

mmhhmmm, while i do agree that Norman/green goblin should be ontroduced in the 2nd movie i think he shouldnt be the main villain of the movie yet and leave it for the 3rd, giving him generally more importance for the overall plot than just villain of the week and Kraven would be a cool choice, but i dont know how well he would work for the overall plot, maybe the vulture and instead of going for the cross species angle, go with a technological one for this, or how about Electro

I think Amazing Spider-man 2 will introduce Osborn as the Green Goblin. We will also meet Harry, and The Night Gwen Stacy Died will be put into the film.

I think Electro is considered as a villain, but in my opinion it will be better if they consider somebody else, because I really hope the sequel will continue with Norman Osborn and I can't really connect Electro to him.

I think it will either be that Norman Osborn becomes the Green Goblin and kills Gwen Stacy

or The Jackal appears as he still has to clone Gwen while she is still alive.

I also know that Electro is considered a villain
