Spider-Man is a comic book character that first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15

Peter Benjamin Parker is The Amazing Spider-Man. As a teenager, Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider that turned him into Spider-Man. After the murder of his Uncle Ben, Spider-Man vowed to use his super powers responsibly.

   Origin of Spider-Man

The Fateful Bite
The Fateful Bite
While attending a demonstration in radiology, high school student Peter Parker was bitten by a spider that had been exposed to radioactive rays. He had learned that he gained great spider-like reflexes. Peter then created a costume and became the Amazing Spider-Man. The tragic death of his Uncle Ben, a death that he could have prevented, taught Spider-Man that " With great power, comes great responsibility", and on that day a true hero was born.

Early Years of Spider-Man

Peter Benjamin Parker, is the only son of Richard Parker and Mary Parker. His parents were SHIELD agents who were killed during a mission against the Red Skull. After the loss of his parents, Peter grew up living with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Peter's uncle Ben was too old to engage in any physical activities with him, and his aunt was very over-protective. This led him to take interest in pursuits that were non-physical such as photography and chemistry.

Peter went to school in  New York City at  Midtown High School. Peter was extremely gifted in science and academics, but lacked the social skills needed to interact with his peers, becoming the class "nerd". He was regularly ridiculed throughout his academic life by school bullies, most prominently, Flash Thompson who gave Peter the nickname "Puny Parker".

While observing a science experiment dealing with radioactive isotopes, a spider was caught in a radiation. In sudden shock, the spider bit Peter before dying. Feeling a burn on the bite, Peter left the exhibition and rushed back home by going through a unfamiliar section of the city. He was then cornered by a gang of thugs, where he defended himself by tossing one of them with such ease that Peter was even surprised of his own strength. Still heading home, Peter ran through the streets and almost got hit by a speeding car, but he sensed this and quickly leaped over the car and apparently stuck to the side of the wall. He then jumped onto a guy wire and realized that he has excellent balance. Peter then hypothesized that the bite gave him the proportional strength and agility of a spider, he was also able to stick to any surface, and he even developed a "spider sense" which warned him of danger. Spider-Man was born.

While walking home from the science hall and contemplating his fate. Peter passed by a wrestling exhibition offering three thousand dollars to any man who could last three minutes with Crusher Hogan. Peter saw the match as a great  chance to test his new powers, but didn't want to look foolish if he failed, so he got himself a mask to hide his identity and challenge the wrestler. He easily defeated Crusher, and quickly found himself being courted by a television producer promising to make Peter a fortune. Peter wanted to increase his showmanship, and decided that since he had spider powers, he would design himself a spider costume. Then he used his scientific expertise to design and build his wrist-mounted " web shooters." Finally, he needed to come up with a name for his alter ego and decided that the "Amazing Spider-Man" was as good as any. Soon Spider-Man appeared on T.V. displaying his miraculous powers and was an instant hit. After Peter's first performance, a criminal robbed the venue and ran right past Spider-Man, but Spider-Man could not be bothered to stop the criminal from escaping, saying that "From now on I just look out for number one". Days later as Spider-Man's fame grew, the same criminal attempted to rob the Parker household. Peter's Uncle Ben surprised The Burglar but was shot and killed. Peter, as Spider-Man, tracked the killer to an abandoned warehouse where the police had the murderer pinned. Upon apprehending the killer, Spider-Man discovered that it was the same man that earlier he had allowed to escape. Shocked by that revelation, and feeling tremendous guilt over the loss of his uncle, Peter threw away his costume, wishing the Spider-Man never existed.

After his uncle’s death, and with no one to provide for the family, Peter and his aunt became desperate for money. Peter decided to once again perform as Spider-Man, but he wanted to keep his identity hidden and couldn't cash his paychecks. Also a hindrance to Spider-Man's performing career, the publisher of the newspaper " The Daily Bugle," J. Jonah Jameson, began a vicious campaign to destroy Spider-Man's public image. Jameson was jealous of the spotlight Spider-Man was getting, and thought that the world should be more interested in "real heroes" like his son, John Jameson. After Jonah's smear campaign, no one wanted to see Spider-Man perform, and Peter's days on television were numbered. Spider-Man saved J. Jonah Jameson's son when a rocket flight almost crashed, but Jonah still hated him as much as ever. In fact, he even convinced himself that Spider-Man himself had rigged the flight so that  it would fail, and that when he saved John he would look like a hero. Later on in life, Peter Parker would manage to get a job providing photos he took of himself as Spider-Man to Jameson, even though they were always used against him.  It was also during this time at "The Daily Bugle" that Parker began a brief relationship with secretary Betty Brant.  Later, the couple would split with Peter's double-life as an indirect cause. Betty's brother Bennett had been shot earlier in the comic series and died, and Betty couldn't bare to have someone else she loved die; in this case if Peter were shot whilst getting crime photos.  Betty would go on to date Ned Leeds

With the world against him, and with no one to confide in, Peter began to wonder how the other heroes got by. That was when he got the idea to join the Fantastic Four. Peter goes to the headquarters of the Fantastic Four for an interview, but finds the elevator locked. Determined to see the Fantastic Four, Peter dons his Spider-Man disguise and sneaks into the building. He manages to allude the Fantastic Four's security measures, and even the Fantastic Four themselves, but when Spider-Man finds out that the Fantastic Four is a nonprofit organization, he loses interest in becoming a member and leaves. Shortly after this encounter, Spider-Man fought his very first villain, a communist spy called the Chameleon, who had the skills to quickly disguise himself as any other person.

Spider-Man's early years in the 1960s were spent fighting colorful villains who were actually rather silly, like Vulture, Chameleon, LizardKraven The Hunter, Mysterio, Electro, Rhino, and Sandman. But when the Green Goblin was introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #14, Spider-Man began facing more powerful villains, such as the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus.

Peter later learned that his Aunt May blamed herself for Uncle Ben's death; they had had an argument the night he had died and she had taken a long walk to compose herself before the two could resolve it more calmly, but by the time she had returned to their house, he was already dead.

Spider-Man: College Years

Spider-Man to the rescue!
Spider-Man to the rescue!
After Peter graduated from High School, he enrolled in Empire State University. This was where Peter met Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacy for the first time. Originally Harry and Gwen didn't like Peter, as he had seemingly been ignoring them, thinking he was too good for them, but Peter was actually quiet since his Aunt May had recently gotten a radioactive particle into her blood (from when Peter donated blood to her), and she was dying. Over time, however, Peter convinced Harry and Gwen he was actually a very friendly person.  Also, his aunt introduced Mary Jane to Peter during his college years. A surprising twist to Parker's college years was that he had attended his four-year graduation ceremonies, only he was not called for his diploma. Afterward he learned from the Dean that because of him constantly leaving to be Spider-Man he had one credit left untaken, and of all the classes it had to be gym. At one point in his adventures as Spider-Man, Peter seriously considered giving up being Spider-Man after Aunt May had another heart attack. Whilst he was inactive as Spider-Man, one of the most notable villain, Wilson Fisk the Kingpin of crime, made his move to take over New York. However, by now Peter had realized that no matter what he had a duty to protect those who can't protect themselves, and so returned to the webs to stop Kingpin. During this story arc Frederick Foswell was also killed when he protected J. Jonah Jameson from gunfire. Peter began dating Mary Jane for awhile but eventually settled with Gwen Stacy because he felt Mary Jane was too much of a “party girl.” Harry and Peter become best friends and eventually roommates. However, Harry’s relationship with his friends and his girlfriend Mary Jane took a turn for the worse, and Harry resorted to taking drugs. When Gwen’s father, Captain George Stacy, died after being caught in the middle of a battle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus, (due to a pile of bricks falling after Doctor Octopus's flailing tentacles knocked a chimney over) it strained Peter's and Gwen’s relationship because Gwen blamed Spider-Man for her father’s death. Gwen then left the country to live with her uncle and aunt in London for awhile. It was later revealed in the story arc “ Sins Past” that during her time in Europe, Gwen had had an affair with Norman Osborn. Eventually Gwen returned to America and shortly afterwards, Harry overdosed on drugs, but did not die.

Death of Gwen Stacy

Death of Gwen Stacy at the hands of the Green Goblin
Death of Gwen Stacy at the hands of the Green Goblin
In the story arc titled " The Death of Gwen Stacy" Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin, had amnesia and couldn't remember what had happened in previous story arcs. He remembered nothing of his insane secret life, but he suddenly remembered everything when he was about to be declared bankrupt and found out about the problems that Harry was going through. This reawakened his hidden Green Goblin persona, and he vowed to kill Spider-Man. He kidnapped Gwen Stacy, Peter's girlfriend, and fought Spider-Man as she lay unconscious on a Brooklyn Bridge.

Finally, the Green Goblin was seemingly defeated by Spider-Man, despite that Spider-Man was sick at the time of the fight. But as the Goblin stood there defeated, in a spiteful, evil move, he threw Gwen Stacy off of the bridge. Spider-Man caught her leg with his web, but there was a loud “snap” sound and Gwen broke her neck.

In anger, Peter tracked the Goblin to an abandoned warehouse where the two engaged in battle. They fought long and hard before the Green Goblin was finally impaled and pinned against a wall with his own glider when he tried to attack Peter from behind with it, only to have Peter dodge it.

After Gwen’s death, Peter became anti-social, but found find Mary Jane constantly supporting him through this traumatic incident. At first, Peter pushed Mary Jane away but she kept coming back to support him. Eventually Peter fell in love with Mary Jane and the two began dating. As a direct result of Gwen Stacy dying, Professor Miles Warren became the Jackal, and he hired the Punisher to take out Spider-Man in the Punisher's first ever appearance, but the Punisher found out that the Jackal had killed one of his best friends so he stopped pursuing Peter.

Spider-Man saves Gwen from the fall, but...
Spider-Man saves Gwen from the fall, but...

Later Peter encountered a clone of himself and a clone of Gwen Stacy. Miles Warren, a protégé of Herbert Edgar Wyndham better known as the High Evolutionary, who called himself the Jackal, was the man who created the clones. He made them because he blamed Spider-Man for killing Gwen. Eventually the clone Spider-Man was apparently killed, and the real Spider-Man took his clone to a factory smokestack and threw the lifeless body into it. The Gwen Stacy clone left Peter afterwards, since she knew she was just a clone created for one purpose.

Mary Jane and Peter broke up after Peter proposed to her. Mary Jane told him that she was not ready for a serious commitment. Mary Jane, then left New York for a brief time in order to pursue her acting career.

Spider-Man grieves over Gwen's death

Unknown to Spider-Man, Harry Osborn had secretly witnessed the battle and the death of his father, Norman, and Harry swore vengeance against Spider-Man for murdering his father. Eventually Harry discovered a Spider-Man costume in Peter's room, learning Spider-Man's secret identity. Harry then became the new Green Goblin so that he could battle Spider-Man. Figuring out that Harry was now in the Goblin costume, and not wanting to hurt his best friend, Spider-Man was able to render Harry unconscious during their fight, and he turned him into the police who refused to believe Harry's claims to be the Green Goblin. Harry was sent to a mental institution, where he was treated for his mental instability, and it seemed that his sanity had returned. Harry remained amnesic about the Green Goblin and Spider-Man, but he later regained his memory of Spider-Man's identity. Harry was taken to a psychiatrist, Doctor Bart Hamilton, and was hypnotized to cure him. However, whilst hypnotized, he told Bart Hamilton all about the history of the Green Goblin, Peter Parker's identity, and a warehouse where the Goblin's gear was located. Checking to see if this was true, Bart found himself overwhelmed by the sense of power. He then hypnotized Harry into taking pictures of Spider-Man disposing of his clone then mailing them to J. Jonah Jameson, in the hope that this would expose his identity. The plan backfired, and after a psychiatric session which ended with Harry attacking him, Bart decided he would take up the mantle of the Green Goblin. He tried to take over the mobs so that he would be king of the underworld, but they only agreed to give him leadership if he captured Spider-Man. Bart fought with Peter many times in one night, but after Peter finally unmasked him, Harry arrived, also with the Goblin gear, ready to stop Bart. The two foes fought, and in the end Bart got out his ace-in-the-hole: a miniaturized bomb. However, just before he detonated it, a conveyor belt he was on knocked him back, so Peter and Harry were alright. Bart then died in the explosion. Fortunately, Harry again lost his knowledge of Peter's identity as a result of the explosion.

Spider-Man's Six Arm Saga

Six Armed Spider-Man vs Morbius
Six Armed Spider-Man vs Morbius
After experiencing so many bad circumstances such as the death of Captain Stacy, Harry becoming a drug addict and the departure of Gwen to Europe, Peter has had enough and contemplated that being Spider-Man has become a burden too much to carry and he has to get rid of Spider-Man in his life. Shortly after that, Peter tried to take a serum that would get rid of his spider powers. Peter managed to sleep it out and he had nightmares of all his enemies surrounding him, while also feeling pain. When he woke up he was surprised at what he saw; the serum has failed on its objective of getting rid of his spider powers and he had grown four extra arms instead. Whilst trying to get rid of the arms, he visited Dr. Curt Connors to try to help him get rid of his extra arms. Spider-Man and Curt later encountered Morbius the Living Vampire, which forced Connors to turn into the Lizard.

When Morbius took a bite of the Lizard, somehow the bite reverted Lizard's intelligence into that of Dr. Connors. He and Curt Connors managed to create a serum from Morbius's blood that got rid of Peter's extra's arms. Shortly before the famous "Death of Gwen Stacy" story arc (see below), Peter went to Canada, since Aunt May's lawyer had something he needed to give either Peter or Aunt May. When Peter finally managed to meet with him, he was shot by a mysterious man. Months later, Peter was shocked to find out that Aunt May was going to marry Doctor Octopus.

However during the ceremony, Hammerhead, Doc Ock's gang rival, interrupted the ceremony, as he wanted to take Aunt May for a hostage. It turned out that Aunt May had inherited a small Canadian island with a nuclear reactor on it. Her lawyer had been trying to tell her, only he had been shot by one of Hammerhead's men so that he couldn't tell Peter or Aunt May. Eventually Peter managed to get his Aunt May and himself off the island just before the reactor exploded, leaving Hammerhead and Doctor Octopus seemingly dead. Doctor Octopus was later revealed to have survived, and Hammerhead had turned into a ghost, but was soon returned to life after Doctor Octopus accidentally used a nuclear device on him.

Spider-Man's Parents

Spider-Man Annual #5: Who are Peter's Parents?
While moving an old trunk into the basement of his Aunt's home, the teenage Peter Parker discovered some old newspaper clippings, which claimed that his parents were traitors who had been plotting against the government. The teenager was wracked with confusion. He forced Aunt May to reveal what had really happened to his parents, and she told him that they had died in a plane crash in Algeria under mysterious circumstances. Desperate to learn the truth about his parents, Peter changed into Spider-Man and went to Algeria to find out what happened.

Arriving in Algeria, Spider-Man searched the Casbah, hunting for the contact his aunt had told him about. His search attracted the attention of the man he sought, who sent out a group of thugs to stop him. Fighting them off, Spider-Man discovered the whereabouts of his enemy. Tracking down the hideout, the arachnoid was shocked to discover that his adversary was none other than Captain America's greatest enemy, the Nazi terrorist known as the Red Skull. The battle with the Red Skull resulted in the destruction of the fascist's headquarters, but Spider-Man was able to save the files relating to his parents. As a result of this, he found the proof he needed to clear their names. He discovered that they had been working as double agents for the United States government and had not been traitors after all.

Later, Richard and Mary Parker had seemingly returned from the dead. According to the Parkers, Russian agents had kidnapped them many years ago, taking them prisoner before they could board the plane. After spending weeks getting reacquainted with his parents, Peter Parker revealed his identity to them.

Spider-Man was shocked when he soon found his parents with the Chameleon and the Vulture. It was later revealed that the people Peter thought were his parents were actually highly sophisticated robots that had been programmed by the Chameleon to mimic Richard and Mary Parker. Though the Richard robot was perfectly willing to betray Peter, Mary hesitated. She had been programmed to think of Peter as her own son and had grown to love him. When Spider-Man confronted them, Richard instantly began to metamorphose into a deadly engine of destruction. Torn between her conflicting programs, Mary stopped Richard from revealing Spider-Man's true identity and was forced to terminate her robot husband.

In return for destroying the Richard robot, the Vulture destroyed the robot that had been Mary Parker. As she lay dying, she told Peter that she loved him. Devastated and furious by the deception, Spider-Man pursued the Chameleon and eventually captured him. That was when the arachnoid learned that someone else had encouraged the Chameleon to create the Parker robots, supplying the criminal with all the necessary information. The Chameleon, the Vulture, and the robots had all been pawns of Harry Osborn, the Green Goblin.

Secret Wars and the Symbiote Suit

When his spider-sense suddenly flared from the force of an exploding bomb, Peter Parker instantly realized that he was in intense danger. Almost blind with pain from the intensity of his spider-sense, he struggled to locate the source of this new threat. He changed into his costume and followed the tingles deep into New York's Central Park.

Hidden from view by a forest of trees, Spider-Man was shocked to discover a strange-looking alien structure rising from the ground. As he approached the unknown edifice, dazzling lights suddenly engulfed Spider-Man and he disappeared within the blinding blaze. Spider-Man found himself on a satellite in a galaxy far from Earth. Along with other super-heroes, such as Captain America, and super-villains, including Doctor Doom, Spider-Man was brought to the satellite by a near omnipotent being called the Beyonder. The Beyonder wanted heroes and villains to fight a war on a planet called Battleworld. Spider-Man fought many battles there, and his costume was left in tatters. Then he found a machine that could replace ruined clothing.

Spider-Man triggered the clothing machine and a round black object sprang from it. It immediately started to spread up Spider-Man's arm and did not stop till it had covered his entire body. The alien costume seemed to know what Peter wanted, sometimes even before he did. At first Peter was surprised about his new look, but then he realized that he might have been subconsciously influenced by the design of the new Spider-Woman costume which Julia Carpenter, who later changed her alias to Arachne, was wearing. As the alien costume slithered over Spider-Man, it absorbed and dissolved away the tatters of his old costume. After defeating the villains and escaping the Beyonder, the heroes returned to Earth, and Spider-Man took his alien costume with him. He learned that his new super-costume was capable of generating a seemingly endless supply of webbing, and that it could also change its appearance at will. Peter and his alien costume were always in some kind of psychic contact, even when physically separated. If the costume was in a different room, it came at Peter's mental summons.

Each night while Peter slept, the alien costume secretly slipped over him and took the unconscious Spider-Man wall-crawling. Peter awoke each morning with no memory of his nocturnal adventures, all he knew was that he felt more exhausted than before he had gone to bed. As Peter's fatigue continued to grow, he slept through entire days and began to have terrible nightmares. So Spider-Man went to Reed Richards,  Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four for help. After an exhausting series of tests, Mr. Fantastic made a startling discovery. Instead of an amazing suit composed of some unknown extra-terrestrial fabric, was actually a living creature. It was a sentient Symbiote who had formed a mental and physical bond with the arachnoid. As soon as the symbiote's secret was revealed, it attempted to permanently graft itself to Spider-Man's body. Spider-Man did all he could to escape from the costume, but the symbiote tightened its grip on him, almost crushing Spidey in the process. Luckily, Reed Richards had discovered that the symbiote was vulnerable to certain sound waves. Using these sounds, Richards managed to separate Spider-Man from the costume. At last Peter was free and the alien was imprisoned. Later, the symbiote escaped from Richards's laboratory and pounced on the unsuspecting Spider-Man. In desperation, Spider-Man lured the alien to the bell tower of Our Lady Of Saints Church. Knowing that the sound of the bells could free him from the symbiote, Peter banged against the bell and the alien pulled away from Peter. The symbiote knew that only one of them could survive the ordeal, and sacrificed Peter to save itself. It later turned up alive in the bell tower, and gripped itself onto Eddie Brock who became Venom.

The Death of Jean DeWolff

The Death of Jean DeWolff

After saving a friend of Aunt May from muggers, Spider-Man found out that his friend, Jean DeWolff was murdered in her sleep. He later found out from the detective who was investigating the case that the killer is someone calling himself the Sin-Eater. Attorney Matt Murdock is later legally defending the same muggers that attacked Aunt May's friend and they were relased on bail. Peter was at the hearing disgusted on the verdict and Matt was visibly guilty of his own actions. He was confronted by the presiding judge, who is also his mentor and told him that he was weak. Then the Sin-Eater goes on to kill the judge and Matt couldn't do anything to defend him without revealing his superhero identity as Daredevil. Peter was also investigating and he find out that Jean was in love with him as Spider-Man, which makes her death even more painful for him. Matt was at Jean's funeral and could hear the Sin-Eater's heartbeat but dared not to speak out if it weren't for his secret identity. When the priest who oversaw the funeral of DeWolff was hearing a confession, he was killed by the person who was confessing to him, revealed to be the Sin-Eater. Spider-Man and Daredevil later team-up to track down the Sin-Eater, who is now out to kill J. Jonah Jameson.
Stanley Carter known as Sin-Eater

The heroes find out that the identity of the Sin-Eater is the same detective that was investigating the murder of Jean DeWolff, Stanley Carter. The Sin-Eater entered JJJ's house to kill him but only found Betty Brant, who was watching over the house. Spider-Man managed to save Betty before she was shot. Spider-Man was so mad at the Sin-Eater that he beat him within an inch of his life and he could have killed him until Daredevil pinned him into submission. Sin-Eater was arrested and sent into jail, but he was followed by an angry mob, including Jean's father, who was ready and willing to punish him. Daredevil tried to save Sin-Eater but he was overwhelmed by the people with Spider-Man turning his back and is about to leave. It wan't until Daredevil cried out Spider-Man's real name that he almost instinctively swung by and managed to save both Daredevil and Sin-Eater. In the rooftop, both Spider-Man and Daredevil both revealed each other's secret identities to each other and Matt even offered his legal services to Peter if he needed. This solidified the friendship between the superheroes.

The Marriage

I do...
I do...

Mary Jane Watson eventually returned to New York and also showed signs of maturity. She admitted to Peter that she had known he was Spider-Man for a long time. She had known on the night of his Uncle Ben’s death that he was Spider-Man because she had seen Peter sneak out of his room in his Spider-Man costume. The couple finally decided to tie the knot and get married in the Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21. They had taken into consideration that they might be too young and Peter’s alter ego might cause strain on their marriage. At the night before their marriage, they both contemplate about having cold feet. However, in spite of all that, the two decided to marry anyway, believing that their love was strong enough to see them through it all. One of the biggest reliefs for Peter was when he gained the blessings of marrying Mary Jane from Harry (who was MJ's ex-boyfriend), who advised Peter about his cold feet feeling and told him that love conquers all. The marriage was later taken away after Peter and Mary Jane made a deal with Mephisto in order to save his Aunt May's life in One More Day.

Kraven's Last Hunt

The Spider rises!
The Spider rises!

One of Spider-Man's earliest foes was Kraven The Hunter, a big game hunter who prided himself on being able to defeat and capture any living creature. He was continuously defeated by Spider-Man, and eventually Kraven became obsessed with defeating his arachnid-enemy. Kraven was finally able to get the drop on Spider-Man. After dropping a net over him, he shot him point blank with a rifle, then proceeded to bury him on his land. Defeating Spider-Man was simply the beginning of his plan. Kraven then went out dressed as Spider-Man with his own copy of the costume, attempting to show that he was superior to him by defeating a villain, Vermin, whom Spider-Man had been unable to defeat on his own.

Two weeks went by and Peter found himself alive, but buried in a coffin. Kraven had never shot him with real bullets, but instead a highly concentrated tranquilizer. In a panic, Spider-Man managed to claw his way out. The first thing Peter did was go home where he was relieved to find that Mary Jane was safe. She asked him to stay with her but he felt had to go after Kraven. Spider-Man found Kraven at his estate, where Kraven seemed to have lost his fight. He had nothing left to prove. He showed a battered Vermin to Spider-Man, proving his worth and that he was "better" than Spider-Man. Rather than fight Spider-Man, Kraven let Vermin go, taunting Spider-Man to go after him in order to save "innocent lives." Spider-Man felt he had no choice but to go after Vermin. Upon Spider-Man's departure, Kraven went upstairs and shot himself with his rifle. His life had been complete and he felt he had nothing else to live for. It was this experience, in addition to the torment from Venom, that caused Mary Jane to beg Peter to stop wearing the black costume.

A sequel was released after the success the "Kraven's Last Hunt" story arc had. In this story Spider-Man was confronted by the soul of Kraven. Now confused, Spider-Man decided to go to Kraven's grave to find out what exactly was going on. Once Spider-Man was at Kraven's grave, he met a mysterious spiritual figure who appeared to look like Death. Spider-Man was then told that the spirit and Kraven had a spiritual bond. The spirit then revealed to Spider-Man that Kraven's soul could not find peace because he had died through suicide. Spider-Man was then dragged underneath the ground bye Kraven's body. At first Spider-Man appeared to have accepted this; however, he decided midway down to fight back and was able to resurface. This finally helped enable Kraven's soul to find peace.

Cosmic Spider-Man

Cosmic Spider-Man
Cosmic Spider-Man
While Spider-Man was strong physically, he had never exactly been the strongest costumed hero on the block. Iron Man, the Mighty Thor, the Incredible Hulk, and even the ever-loving blue-eyed Thing were all much stronger. It can even be argued that super-villains such as Doctor Octopus, the Sandman, and the Scorpion possessed far greater raw power. However, that all changed when a laboratory accident exposed Peter Parker to an unknown energy source. He was transformed into the cosmic Spider-Man. While pursuing his graduate studies at Empire University, Peter Parker was bathed in the unknown energies when an experimental generator exploded. The explosion also caused nearby power lines to overload dangerously. Changing into Spider-Man, Peter spotted a live wire falling toward a young couple. He instinctively caught the wire and was surprised when he wasn't harmed by the massive surge of electricity. Spider-Man discovered that he had some amazing new powers. Using his webbing, he could instantly form any complex shape that he imagined, and then manipulate the webbing in whatever way he wanted.

Spider-Man's new power included the ability to generate concussive blasts from the tips of his fingers, or combine them into a fist-sized blast powerful enough to shatter an army tank. Spider-Man's vision was also enhanced. His eyes could now see much farther than any conventional pair of binoculars, and he could look through walls. His senses had also developed to where they had become far sharper than those of Daredevil or Puma. Suddenly, he could hear a spider crossing a window pane two blocks away, and smell the fragrance of a potted plant on a distant building ledge. Quickly learning how to filter out the excess noise and smells before they overwhelmed him, Spider-Man also used his new powers to locate and defeat a professional criminal called the Trapster. Spider-Man's new powers had actually come from a mysterious extra-dimensional entity known as the Enigma Force. It bestowed its Uni-Power on various individuals, turning them into a being known as Captain Universe and giving them superhuman powers long enough to cope with a specific crisis. Spider-Man was merely the latest Captain Universe. As Spider-Man grew more comfortable with his new cosmic powers, he found himself fighting a different class of enemy. During a battle with Magneto, the greatest enemy of the uncanny X-Men, Spider-Man eventually drove the master of magnetism away when the villain realized that he could never take on the cosmically charged Spider-Man on his own.

While Spider-Man had not particularly liked being drafted by the Enigma Force, he realized that he had a responsibility to fight the menace it had foreseen. This menace proved to be in the form of three massive Sentinel robots. In an act of spite, the evil god Loki caused these robots to merge, creating one super-powered robot named the Tri-Sentinel. Loki then instructed the robot to create as much damage and mayhem as possible. The Tri-Sentinel attempted to cause a nuclear meltdown at a research facility that bordered Manhattan. The web-covered Captain Universe summoned the full power of the Enigma Force and incinerated the Tri-Sentinel in a nova like blast. After the crisis, the exhausted Spider-Man returned to normal.

The Death of a Best Friend

Goodbye, Harry
Goodbye, Harry
During the Inferno crossover many heroes, including Spider-Man, had to fight Madelyne Pryor and her demons, one of which possessed the villain known as the Hobgoblin. During this time, the barriers blocking Harry's conscious and sub-conscious mind were broken, causing him to remember his life as the Green Goblin. Harry's hatred for Peter continued to grow, and Harry began believing that Peter killed Norman because he disliked that Harry had a "stable family" and Peter did not. He then proceeded to say that the next time he faced Spider-Man, it would be their last meeting. Harry recreated the Goblin Formula and modified it to be even stronger then his father Norman's original formula. Harry began stalking Peter and constantly taunting him, until one day Peter could take it no longer and punched Harry. Harry retaliated and punched back, showing Peter his new strength.

Harry had a new plan which he would use to kill all of his enemies at once (Spider-Man and his father's business associates). He invited everyone to a dinner in a place he wired with bombs. Spider-Man knew that something bad was going to happen, and he dropped by. Peter and Harry engaged in a battle inside the building. Harry was able to inject Peter with a drug that immobilized him but left him conscious. Harry began taunting Peter again until he realized that Mary Jane and his son, Normie, were still inside the building. Peter was able to convince Harry to save the two people that he really cared about. Upon bringing Mary Jane and Normie outside, Harry regained his sanity and realized that he had left his best friend inside to die. Harry rushed in and was able to carry Peter out before the building collapsed. As Peter was about to thank him, Harry collapsed and it was discovered that the Goblin Formula was poisoning him. Paramedics came to take Harry to a hospital, and Peter, in his Spider-Man costume, stayed by his side. Just as Harry was about to die, he confirmed to Peter that despite everything they had gone through together, they were still best friends. Harry died right afterwards in Spectacular Spider-Man #200. Harry later returned in Brand New Day with no knowledge of Peter being Spider-Man.

The Scarlet Spider and the Clone Saga

During the first Clone Saga which was published in 1975, the first Scarlet Spider was a clone of Spider-Man, created by the Jackal, Professor Miles Warren, Peter's biochemistry teacher during his college years at Empire State University. Miles was obsessed with Gwen Stacy and had created a clone of her. Spider-Man was forced to fight a clone of himself, both believing themselves to be the real Spider-Man. When a bomb went off, one of the Spider-Men was crushed and seemingly killed. The Gwen Stacy Clone asked the remaining one if he was the real one or the clone and he was momentarily stumped. He truly believed he was the real one but that could have been the result of the Jackal's programming. After pondering the thought and (seemingly) disposing of the body, he came to realize that he had strong feelings for Mary Jane. He comes to the conclusion that even though the clone had been given most of his memories, an emotional response is not something that could be programmed.

"Brother vs Brother"
"Brother vs Brother"
The second Clone Saga started in 1994 and lasted through 1996. The clone, still alive, left to give the real Peter his life back. His adventures would be published in a miniseries entitled Spider-Man: The Lost Years. During this time he took the name of Ben Reilly out of respect of Peter Parker's uncle and using his Aunt May's maiden name. He wandered around aimlessly for five years. He returned to Spider-Man's home of New York when he discovered Aunt May was deathly ill, and found himself once again wanting to be a hero. Ben fashioned his own costume, and became the Scarlet Spider and utilized web capsules instead of the web shooters. Later it was revealed that the Scarlet Spider was deceived and was the real Peter Parker, and that Spider-Man was the clone. Mary Jane found out that she was pregnant around this time, and that further complicated their lives. The Scarlet Spider fought alongside his "brother" Spider-Man, and proved himself to be such a great hero that Spider-Man asked him to watch over the city, while he and his wife tried to start a family. Eventually Peter decided to retire from being Spider-Man and let Ben take over. Peter and Mary Jane moved to Portland to try and raise their baby in peace far away from his alter-ego Spider-Man. But the couple eventually returned to New York because they missed their friends and families. When his name was smeared by a second, evil Scarlet Spider, Ben assumed the identity of Spider-Man, donning Spider-Man's classic costume. Eventually it was revealed that the mastermind behind this whole ordeal was in fact the Green Goblin. The Green Goblin also revealed that he really manipulated Peter into thinking he was the clone. Ben fought the Green Goblin until his death at the hands of Norman Osborn. Norman had tried to impale Peter with the Goblin glider but Ben instead took the hit. Ben’s body began to dissolve, proving that Peter was the real one and Ben was the clone. Peter muttered to Ben as the latter laid there dead, “Rest easy...brother.” Aunt May had also seemingly died during this saga. During Spider-Man's fight with The Green Goblin, Mary Jane had a miscarriage and lost the baby.

Spider-Man in Identity Crisis

Slingers
Slingers
When Spider-Man was framed by the Green Goblin and the Trapster for a murder of a small time crook and was caught on camera attacking Norman Osborn, a bounty was put on Spider-Man's capture. Unable to operate as Spider-Man because of what was happening and without cops and people trying to catch him for his bounty, Peter briefly retired as Spider-Man and created two hero personas, Prodigy and Hornet, that will continue his superhero career without being Spider-Man and two villain personas Ricochet and Dusk, to infiltrate the criminal underground and find out who set him up. While under the guise of Dusk, he found out that he has not killed the crook and in the Prodigy guise, he produced fake evidence that it was a Spider-Man impersonator is the one that attacked Norman Osborn. The Ricochet guise was able to discover and get more information about a new villain named Black Tarantula and the Hornet guise was exposed as Spider-Man during a skirmish against the Vulture. With the bounty removed in Spider-Man's capture, Peter returned back to his Spider-Man costume. The costumes would later be used by four teenagers given by Black Marvel to form the short-lived superhero team, Slingers.

Spider-Man’s Life after the Clone Saga

A Family United
A Family United

It would eventually be revealed that Aunt May was in fact not dead. She was actually kidnapped by Norman Osborn and the death was a hoax to torture Peter. Peter was able to rescue Aunt May and quit being Spider-Man for a while. Eventually, Peter returned to his life as Spider-Man behind Mary Jane’s back. Soon afterwards, Mary Jane was seemingly killed in a plane accident caused by a stalker. Spider-Man later discovered that Mary Jane was actually kidnapped by an unknown telepathic mutant who wanted to take over Peter's life. Eventually that telepath absorbed too much of Peter's personality, causing him to feel the guilt of kidnapping Mary Jane. He committed suicide soon after and Peter and Mary Jane were able to reunite again.

However, she left him after that traumatic experience and went to Los Angeles to resume her acting career. Meanwhile Aunt May tried to find her spot in Peter's life again. She tried to help comfort Peter during the time where he thought Mary Jane was dead. One day Aunt May decided to pay Peter a surprise visit, but on her arrival, she discovered that Peter was badly injured, and sleeping, with a torn Spider-Man costume laying near his bed. In this way, Aunt May finally came to know the truth about Peter--the truth he had believed he could never reveal to her because of the weakness of her heart. May was shocked at first by her discovery, then angry that Peter hadn't told her. Peter told his aunt everything about how he became Spider-Man, also sharing how he was responsible for the death of Uncle Ben. Then May told Peter about what she believed to be her role in the death of her husband, telling Peter that they had had an argument the night he had died and she had taken a long walk to compose herself before the two could resolve it more calmly, but by the time she had returned to their house, he was already dead. The two bonded, and eventually became closer than ever, now that Peter no longer had to lie to his beloved aunt. Peter was happy that he could be honest to his Aunt about his super-hero activities, but Aunt May still struggled to accept the life he had chosen--or rather, the life that had chosen him.

Spider-Man and Ezekiel
Spider-Man and Ezekiel
Later a wealthy CEO named Ezekiel sought Peter and warned him that the accident that gave him his powers might not have been a fluke. He also warned that Peter might have a connection to a spirit spider totem and tried to get Peter to embrace the mystical nature of his power. Later, Morlun who fed off powers possessed by an animal totem, sought out Spider-Man and beat him nearly to death. Shortly afterwards, Peter and Mary Jane reconciled. Later, Spider-Man again fought Venom, who revealed to Spider-Man that he was dying of cancer.

Peter later received in the mail a letter from Gwen Stacy that was written to him. There were still missing pieces of the letter, so Peter was not able to understand the letter fully. Peter asked a friend of his, detective Lamont, to try and translate the missing words that were embedded on the paper since Gwen wrote back to back on the paper. Peter was visiting Gwen’s grave when all of a sudden he was attacked by two mysterious strangers. Peter was able to escape and later received the letter. He read it and it explained that Gwen had been pregnant with twins. Peter took a DNA sample of Gwen to do a DNA test to confirm his suspicions.

Later it was revealed that the two that attacked Peter were Gwen’s twin children and that their father was Norman Osborn. The twins grew at an accelerated speed due to the goblin formula inside Norman. Norman had told the twins that Spider-Man was their biological father and was the one responsible for their mother’s death. They eventually came back to battle Spider-Man, claiming a vendetta against him.

Sarah Stacy
Sarah Stacy
Spider-Man tried to convince the twins that he had not been responsible for the deaths and was not their father. One of the twins, named Sarah Stacy, believed Spider-Man; however, the other twin, named Gabriel who later assumed the alias of the Grey Goblin, did not. The situation resolved with Sarah and she moved back to Europe to stay, but Gabriel disappeared, soon being revealed to have washed up on a beach with no memory of who he is.

Peter was eventually offered a membership in the New Avengers. Later Peter’s apartment and Aunt May’s house were both destroyed by a super-powered person named Charlie Weiderman, a former classmate of Peter who had enlisted Peter's help in developing vibranium suits for the armed forces. Tony Stark offered Peter and his family residence in Stark Tower since Peter now worked for Tony Stark anyway. Peter continued to teach at Midtown High School and also resumed his freelance photography for the Daily Bugle.

Spider-Man: The Other

Peter breaking the news to Mary Jane.
Peter breaking the news to Mary Jane.

Peter had began suffering from headaches, blackouts, and dizziness. He had also been having dreams of Morlun putting him in a morgue. Later Spider-Man fought a new villain named Tracer. Tracer was robbing a bank and Spider-Man came to stop him. The two fought, and Tracer shot a homing bullet at Spider-Man. The bullet eventually struck Spider-Man in the shoulder, and Tracer was able to escape. Mary Jane saw the battle live on television and rushed home to confront Peter about it. Peter went to Dr. Castillo, whom Captain America had recommended, to heal his wound. Dr. Castillo took a blood sample of Peter for a test. She later called Peter and told him that she had bad news. Mary Jane eventually caught Peter and confronted him, telling him that he was asking for a death wish. Peter was forced to confess to Mary Jane about the news he had received from Dr. Castillo. Later May woke up and walked to the kitchen where she ran into Peter. Peter yells at Aunt May, told her to not worry about anything, and left to help out the disastrous city. Spider-Man encountered one of Tracer’s robots and battled it in the city, then all of a sudden he lost his powers. Morlun then confronted Spider-Man and taunted him. Peter eventually returned home and found Aunt May talking to the Tracer, who had told her that he was a “reserve Avenger.” Peter fought the Tracer, but when Tracer discovered Peter’s health condition, he refused to fight Spider-Man and eventually escaped. Peter then proceeded to tell Aunt May about his current condition.

Are you the one... Or are you the other?
Are you the one... Or are you the other?
Peter sought Mr. Fantastic to find out more information about his current condition. Mr. Fantastic told Peter that his condition was not cancer or anything ordinary human beings could receive. Dr. Hank Pym then told Peter that his infection was radiation-based and recommends Dr. Robert Bruce Banner. Upon seeing him, Banner unfortunately told Peter that at the rate his poison was spreading, there was no possible way to find a cure in time. Banner then recommended that Peter seek out the Black Panther, who also could not help Peter’s condition. Now back in New York, Peter engages against The Ox but mistakenly thought it was Morlun, whom Peter would beat nearly to death before Daredevil stopped him. Peter later decided to take Mary Jane to Las Vegas since they had never been there, and hoped to use his spider-sense to win money in blackjack. But ultimately Peter decided not to go to Las Vegas because he did not want villains interrupting their intimate moment. Instead Peter and Mary Jane hid away in one of Tony Stark’s space pods. After returning to Earth, Peter resumed his nightly patrol, but Morlun watched him. Spider-Man lowered his guard, which allowed Morlun to attack Spider-Man. The fight grew extremely intense and they were flying all over New York. The fight ended up at Empire State University where Spider-Man appeared to be winning. However, Morlun revealed that he was not hurt at all and gouged Spider-Man’s left eye out and ate it. Morlun then proceeded to beat Spider-Man to a bloody pulp, leaving him unconscious and on the brink of death.

Morlun was about to suck the rest of Spider-Man’s life force out of him but was interrupted by police officers showing up. They took the fallen hero to the paramedics and transported him to the nearest hospital. The Avengers and Mary Jane all rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news on television. Morlun returned to Spider-Man while he was unconscious in the hospital, in an attempt to finish off the job. However, Mary Jane tried to stop Morlun but he threw her across the room. Peter woke up and transformed into a spider-like beast. He attacked Morlun and pinned him to the ground. Peter then proceeded to bite Morlun in the neck and apparently killed him. Peter reverted to normal and fell in Mary Jane’s arms, in which he told her goodbye and died. Iron Man took Spider-Man’s body away to shield the public from his apparent death. His body was transported back to the Avengers Tower, where Mary Jane, Aunt May, and Jarvis were all grieving. Mary Jane decided to talk to Captain America and Iron Man if they should reveal his identity to the world or not. Mary Jane later talked to Spider-Woman who reveals that something was not right with Peter. She claimed that they might have a connection somehow because their powers had originated from some kind of irradiated spider. Later they heard a crashing sound in the chamber where Peter’s body was and believed that someone might have stolen the body. However, they deduced that there was only skin left and the window had broken from the inside, leaving them with a mystery. It was later revealed that Peter was in a webbing cocoon somewhere underneath a bridge. Peter was sleeping for days in his cocoon talking to his subconscious mind. The voice in his mind claimed to be the Other part of Spider-Man. It claimed that Peter had rejected the Spider part of himself for his entire life, and that Morlun killed his human self, but the Spider lived on and killed Morlun. It then told Peter that the only way to be reborn was to accept his spider part. Peter agreed and was resurrected back to his human form. He returned to the Avengers Tower to relieve Mary Jane and Aunt May. Peter then returned to the room that stored his body and took back his wedding ring.

Tony Stark began running tests on Peter worried that he might be a clone, but it appeared that he was the real deal. Also a bonus was that every injury he has sustained in the past was repaired, even his tonsils that he had removed in the fourth grade were back. Peter then swings around the city with Mary Jane, meanwhile there were pirate spiders eating up Peter’s old body. Upon returning to the Avengers Tower, he discovers it covered completely in webbing. Peter goes inside and engages against the pirate spiders who took Peter’s form by using his old dead shell. Peter’s stingers reappear again and he continues to battle the pirate spiders and eventually chases it down to a church. Peter believed that this was the Other that his subconscious was talking about. Peter, still confused, hears an explosion nearby and rushes to it to find people trapped under debris. While Spider-Man tries to rescue the people, he discovers he has new abilities that allow him night vision, he can feel all vibrations through his webbing, and Peter now also has the ability to spin webs on his own and no longer needs web shooters. Spider-Man is successful in rescuing all the people and Peter finally understands that he gained new abilities because he is now “embracing the Other.”

Peter returns home to watch the news with Mary Jane. Later Tony would unveil a new costume for Peter with many new built in abilities.

Spider-Man in Civil War

Spider-Man's Moment Of Truth...
Spider-Man's Moment Of Truth...
Under the Civil War arc, Spider-Man plays a key role. Iron Man and Peter Parker go to Washington D.C. to try to challenge the Super-Human Registration Act. Peter is there to act as Tony's eyes and ears. However, things go awry and an assassination is plotted against Tony by Titanium Man. However, it is later revealed to the reader that Stark plotted the assassination himself. His motive was to show the need for a Super-human Registration Act, so in fact he is playing both sides. Despite this, Spider-Man still sided with Stark and is convinced enough to to reveal his identity, as Peter Parker, to the world. The famous line being said at a news conference: "I'm Peter Parker, and I've been Spider-Man since I was 15".

With the public revelation of his secret identity, Peter sees his world falling apart around him like never before. People thought that by registering, superheroes have to publicly unmasked themselves, as the public has christened the act as "pulling a Parker." Old friends and old enemies alike are baffled and hurt by the years of secrecy. J. Jonah Jameson's hatred of Spider-Man flares up like never before, only this time directed at Peter. Doc Ock violently attacks Peter

believing that through Peter's whole adult life he has been made a joke of, Black Cat thought that they shared a bond knowing his identity, which she described as "sexy" and Norman Osborn said that Spider-Man "broke the rules." Other enemies now knowing Parker's true identity begin to launch attacks on the friends and family that are closest to him. In order to protect those he loves, Peter with his wife and Aunt move into Stark Tower, giving them protection during the day when Peter is out with Tony.

Spider-Man is Peter!!!
Spider-Man is Peter!!!
As time passes and the Registration debate becomes more and more violent, Peter begins to secretly question Tony Stark's true motives. Tony, who had hidden equipment in the "Iron Spider" suit (which has the added functions of a bullet proof fiber, three robotic appendages, stealth mode, and gliding capability) to spy on Peter, begins to monitor him even closer. Listening in on his conversations and even letting slip that he knows about Peter's "spider-sense" (something Peter never told him about.) Scared for his family's safety once again, Peter attempts to rush May and Mary Jane out of Stark Tower and go on the run. Iron Man, now furious at Peters double-cross attacks Peter in the tower. The battle hits the streets, and Tony uses one of Peter's new suit's hidden functions to incapacitate him. Being the computer nerd and science whiz that he is, Peter had already installed a back door in his suit though, allowing him to gain the upper hand through surprise and flee into the sewers. Furious, Iron Man authorizes the Thunderbolts, (specifially  Jack O' Lantern and Jester)  to send several of Spider-Man's most dangerous villains after Peter. Peter is saved just in time by the Punisher, who brings Peter to Captain America's main base of operation where he could recuperate. Now on the side of the Cap's Secret Avengers, Peter rids himself of his Iron Spider suit, and dons more traditional apparel to fight with Cap against the registration.

Back In Black

Lookin' good
Lookin' good
After the surrender of Captain America, Peter is back on the run with Aunt May and Mary Jane. May and Mary Jane believed they were safe in a motel, while Peter was still secretly fighting as Spider-Man. Their cover was soon blown as the Kingpin had discovered their hiding place and sent an assassin to kill Spider-Man, but failing that his orders were to take out any other target he could. When he fired the first shot, Peter was able to get Mary Jane out of the way just in time, but the bullet, meant for Mary Jane had instead hit his Aunt. In plainclothes Peter rushed May to the hospital, where his status as a criminal and as Spider-Man prevented him from even assisting from there. Still in street clothing, Peter goes on a rampage like never before to find the sniper. Peter is no longer in the mood to pull his punches, or joke during a fight. Instead he does whatever it takes to find him. Meanwhile, Mary Jane checks May in under her maiden name, and is told by doctors that May has slipped into a coma. The only things keeping May alive are the machines that she is hooked up to.

Peter is now in a place that he has not been before. The shock and emotions caused by the tragedy have made him want to reflect his inward state by seeking out his old, black and white costume (a costume which he had originally put away because he did not like what its appearance reflected). Again donning his old suit, Peter is out for revenge against those who would threaten his family. Spider-Man begins to search for the sniper that shot Aunt May, eventually tracking him down at the train station trying to flee the city. However, before Spider-Man could catch him, the sniper was killed by another hitman. There was no trace of the hitman anywhere, so Spider-Man decides to return to the hospital. Then a surprise drops in for Peter, the sniper was taken to the same hospital as Aunt May, meaning the hitman must be there to make sure his hit is dead. Peter catches the hitman talking to someone on the phone, he takes the phone and discovers that the mastermind behind this is the Kingpin. The two exchange harsh words for a bit, then Peter takes the hitman to the sewers, where he tells him to spread the word to the criminal underworld that his family is off limits. Afterwards, Peter returns to the hospital and Mary Jane tells him that it could get suspicious that they are paying the medical bill with cash. Peter remembers that he once gave Aunt May a blood transfusion that saved her life. MJ had to grab some items from the hospital for Peter to do it. After giving the blood transfusion, he goes straight to Ryker's Island, where he confronts the Kingpin face to face. Peter arrives at Ryker's Island while the prisoners are freed from their cells and spots Kingpin leaving in his classic white suit. Peter drops down and tells Kingpin "End of the road Fisk. You. Me. RIGHT NOW." Fisk begins to taunt Peter, but an enraged Spider-Man completely destroys the Kingpin and tells him that he'll let him live with his defeat and when Aunt May dies, he's coming back to finish what they started. After this occurrence, Peter went to go check on Aunt May who was still in the hospital. Everything was falling apart on Peter, and he needed to move Aunt May, ASAP. He committed 9 felonies the night he moved Aunt May and figured something out. Peter realized that after all his years of fighting criminals, he finally became what he wanted to put away in jail.

Other Events During Back in Black

During the Back in Black series, children were being abducted and given a serum that gave the powers similar to Spider-Man. However, the serum was mutating the kids and dozens of teens were dressed in Spider-Man outfits and eventually filled the police precinct. One of the teenagers mutated to a new level and become a disfigured mess resembling "Spider-X". After convincing Doctor Curt Connors to help find a cure, Peter also was assisted by Reed Richards to cure the infected teens. Spider-Man went to track down who was responsible for the mess. The evidence eventually led to Mr. Hyde, one of Pete's villains and after a brief battle, Spider-Man subdued a blind Mr. Hyde after a soon to be infected teen tossed acid on Mr. Hyde as an act of revenge, (Hyde convinced the student that he killed his mother).

Another one of Peter's adventures was when Sandman came to Spider-Man's home and asked for help because his father was to be executed unfairly. So, being the kind person Spider-Man is, he agreed to help Sandman save his father. Peter and Sandman met up with another individual who found the dead Uncle Ben and told them about it. He accompanied them to Midtown High, (Peter's old school where he was now a chemistry teacher). An investigation led them into the school where they were confronted by the Chameleon from the year 2211 and he admitted to framing Sandman's father and killing the man Sandman's father was accused of killing. The Chameleon was killed during the battle between Peter, Sandman and himself. Later on, Sandman's father was broken out of prison and proven innocent.

Peter also continued his role on the New Avengers and helped them fight crime underground. When they learned one of their teammates, Maya Lopez aka Echo, was kidnapped by Elektra and The Hand in Japan, the group traveled there to rescue her. In Japan, they seek the help of the Silver Samurai, who was still bitter over the fact that Wolverine cut off one of his hands. While they were trying to rescue Echo, they discover that the Hand had manipulated Maya into fighting them. Eventually the Secret Avengers were able to defeat Elektra and the Hand, however, Elektra turned out to be a Skrull.

Now with the realization that a Skrull was able to infiltrate the Hand, the entire team became skeptical of the Civil War and even of their own teammates. Their plane would lose power and caused them to crash land. After defeating The Hood's Gang, they were tipped off by Spider-Woman to investigate a crashed Skrull spaceship. When they got there, they came face to face with the Mighty Avengers, they almost fought if not for what they saw in the ship; it held some of the superheroes, including an unconscious Spider-Man. The Spider-Man in the Skrull ship persuaded the two Avengers team that he is the real Spider-Man, but when he was killed, he reverted back into a Skrull. When Spider-Man got knocked out of the battle, he confronted Ka-zar and Shanna where he accused them to be Skrulls. But when the Captain America from the Skrull ship came, he blamed Spider-Man for being a Skrull, even though the Spider-Man that came from the spaceship is confirmed to be a Skrull. When Spider-Man was told that the natives of the Savage Land were fighting the Skrulls posing as fellow natives, he was fighting Captain America. He was then pricked by a poison dart that renders any Skrull to come back to their original appearance. Captain America suffered a seizure then reverted into his Skrull form, as does the other Savage Land natives who were actually Skrulls. Spider-Man was not affected by the poison, again confirming that he is the original. The two Avenger teams eventually got back to New York for the final battle against their invading Skrull empire.

Spider-Man in One More Day

Spider-Man's Short-Lived Happiness
Spider-Man's Short-Lived Happiness
In One More Day, Peter discovers that he needs money to keep his Aunt May from being put in a charity ward where she'll most likely die, so he decides to invade Stark Towers to confront Iron Man. During the confrontation, Peter webs Stark up and rips Tony's mask off. Peter begins telling Tony that Aunt May needs money to stay alive in the hospital, but Tony says he won't help because he'll be aiding a criminal. Stark eventually breaks out, and flies away leaving Peter infuriated and with an incredible punch, Spider-Man breaks the helmet. Shortly afterwards, Jarvis goes to the hospital with a 2 million dollar check to keep Aunt May alive in the hospital.

When the doctors continued telling Peter that there was nothing they can do for May, Pete went to the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange and was also back in his red and blue costume. Strange was telling Peter that there was nothing he can do to help May because it was part of her destiny. However, Spider-Man wouldn't take no for an answer and Strange allowed Peter to go through time and space to ask for answers. After asking everybody available, the wallcrawler's connection had to be cut. When Strange left the room, Parker went back to the moment of May's shooting to try and stop it, until he was attacked by odd creatures that existed on the edge of time who's soul purpose was to make sure destiny and fate wasn't thrown off. They attacked Peter, harming his "spirit form" causing the webslinger to go weak. Strange casts a spell to help Peter heal and after a few minutes, it was successful. Dr. Strange told Spider-Man that there was nothing he can do and to just stay with May in her final hours because he would grow to regret it. Peter left the Sanctum Sanctorum and then he was approached by a young girl in red.

One last kiss
One last kiss
She told him that she could help Aunt May. The girl's is later revealed to be a facet of Peter's personality. He also meets two alternate ways he could have turned out if the spider never bit him. In one scenario, he becomes a genius software designer, but he never meets Mary Jane or does anything spectacular. Another scenario is Peter making numerous inventions to prove himself, and ending up making millions of dollars. However, he is unfulfilled and feels empty, as he has nobody of significance in his life. Peter learns these altered selves are manifested by Mephisto, who makes him an offer. He would save Aunt May, and revive her completely, if Peter and Mary Jane would sacrifice their marriage. He told him he would take all his memories of Mary Jane accept for one small piece in his soul so he could hear it screaming in pain for as long as he lives, knowing this would be worse than to just take his soul. Mary Jane and Peter are given only one day (thus the title) to decide.

After several hours thinking it over Peter and Mary Jane agree to Mephisto's deal, but Mary Jane makes another deal with Mephisto offering him something, but it isn't revealed to the reader. Mephisto informs them that the little girl Peter saw was the possible child the two could have had together. Mephisto explains that theirs is a love that appears "but once every thousand years, and denying it to He whom I hate most" is his real goal. Mary Jane tells Peter that they will find each other again. Peter wakes up the next morning in Aunt May's house. All the events of the past twenty years are gone, Peter revealing his identity to Aunt May, him unmasking, his organic webs and his marriage to Mary Jane. Peter rushes off to a surprise birthday party for Harry Osborn (who didn't die in this timeline). Harry is in a relationship with a woman named Lily Hollister and it seems Mary Jane is angry with Peter about something, but the reader isn't told what. She soon leaves the party and they all have a toast to a "Brand New Day"!

Spider-Man in Brand New Day

Daily Bugle: Calling All Spiders!!!
Daily Bugle: Calling All Spiders!!!

The story arc begins with an image of Peter kissing a young woman in a club. It then flashes back to a man robbing another man in a Spider-Man mask. However, despite the Spider-Mugger, street and superhuman crime had been down to a low. A new hero named Jackpot went on record stating this to be a isolated issue when a reporter was interrupted by J. Jonah Jameson. Jameson began to rant on about Spider-Man, but the reporter reminded him that Spider-man hadn't been seen in months and that without Spider-Man his paper has lost circulation, but he gave no comment. Peter is currently living with Aunt May again and is looking for a job and an apartment. Betty Brant called him saying she had found one in his price range, but the owner wanted the money tomorrow. Peter attempted to get a job as a teacher, photographer, and a lab assistant, but he was turned down by each one. He was called by Harry wanting to know if he wanted to out to a club tonight and he said yes. Meanwhile a detective was giving a suitcase to a group of men working for a criminal named Mister Negative. Mister Negative appeared when his men didn't pay the detective and he killed them for giving him a bad reputation and paid the detective. He opened the case and revealed a tablet written in some ancient dialect and stated he needed some one who knows foreign languages. Peter was shown kissing the girl from earlier. Her name was Mia Flores and she was revealed to have been trying to get into Harry's group of friends. Peter left the club out the bathroom window and bumped into Lily Hollister's friend Carlie Cooper.

The Spider Mugger
The Spider Mugger
However they are soon robbed by the Spider-Mugger. He takes Peter's wallet and one of his web shooters, but Peter tags him with a tracer and begins to follow him. He follows him in his regular clothes so no one can take any pictures of Spider-Man. He almost had him when he ran into a homeless shelter that May was working at. She stopped him wondering what happened and the man was able to escape in a taxi. He also met a man named Mr. Li who runs the shelter and gave Peter a pair of shoes, thinking his were stolen in the mugging (he actually took them off to wall crawl.) Peter went to the Daily Bugle to receive a check he was owed, but Jameson had stopped all the checks due to a buyout. Peter demanded his check and argued with Jonah when he didn't get it. Jonah got angry, but before he could say anything collapsed from a heart attack. The paramedics showed up and took Jonah away. Robbie told everyone to get back to work and asked Peter to get him a headline picture. Peter decided to get a picture of him capturing the Spider-Mugger. Meanwhile the Spider-Mugger was trying to fence Peter and Carlie's things. However his fence didn't want the web shooter thinking it was a stupid piece of metal. The mugger played with it and discovered how to work it. Peter tracked his spider-tracer to the bar the mugger was in, but when he landed the signal split due to the mugger placing a second tracer on Bruno Karnelli. Mr. Karnelli was then kidnapped and Spidey gave chase. Mr. Negative had kidnapped Bruno and began to drain his body of blood. However Spider-Man showed up and fought Mr. Negative's men, the Inner Demons. He revealed that his tablet held the formula for a poison called the Devil's Breath. Negative left after increasing the the blood flow on the pumps. Meanwhile the mugger realized that Peter was Spider-Man and wanted to get his information back.

Spidey freed Bruno and realized Mr. Negative intended to kill the other Maggia bosses and Spidey went to save them, but Negative had already set up his poison and it began to fill the room. However Spidey realized the poison was DNA specific. An adopted member of the family told Spidey to save their children and wives who went to a circus. Spidey ran out of webbing and literally had to hope on a cab to get to the circus he arrived and battled Negative's men and stopped his second bomb. However Negative held an innocent girl by knife point and promised to kill her if Spider-Man didn't give him a sample of his blood for his poison. He did, but Mr. Negative threw her into the ocean. Spidey saved her and then left. Meanwhile Mr. Negative was revealed to be Martin Li, the man who runs May's shelter. Later Peter picked up his tracer signal and found the Spider-Mugger dead. He reclaimed his web shooter and left.

After reclaiming his web shooter, Spider-Man continued his normal day to day life until he saw a newspaper that accused him of being a killer because the body of the person who stole his web shooter and who he placed a tracer on was found dead (the same guy he reclaimed his shooter from). Spider-Man swung around town like a man possessed trying to find out who the killer was and at the same time he wanted to find out who was this new Goblin like threat known simply as " Menace". Menace was spotted by the wall-crawler and was instantly confronted by Spider-Man. The webslinger landed on Menace's glider and tried pulling his mask off, but for all his efforts and spider-strength, it was all done in vain. Menace tried lashing out at Peter and succeeded. Due to some kind of substance on the spikes on his outfit, Menace was able to paralyze and incapacitate Spider-Man, dropping him about 20-30 feet into the water below. Peter, struggling to climb out of the river and was once again confronted by Menace who threatened the wall-crawler and told him that if he interfered with his actions, that Spider-Man would die, something that "Norman couldn't do".

Kraven First Hunt

The hunter's prey
The hunter's prey
After a the said events happened some time ago, Spider-Man and Daredevil are fighting a villain named Fracture, all the while being watched over by the daughter of the now deceased Kraven the Hunter, Ana Tatiana Kravinoff. When Spider-Man got home, Ana followed him to his apartment. Because of his spider sense, Spider-Man immediately leaves without being seen by Ana. Days goes by and Peter's roommate, Vin Gonzales, was attacked by Ana in their apartment, where she took Spider-Man's costume. Vin woke up later tied upside down in the sewer wearing Spider-Man' costume and injected with the Mutant Growth Hormone. Peter goes home and finds out that Vin and his costume is missing. Borrowing Daredevil's costume, Peter tries to search for his roommate. Vermin shows up in the sewers and fights Ana while Vin escapes but he doesn't go far as she captures him again after defeating Vermin. While Peter was still tracking down Vin, he was attacked by Vermin, but he was able to calm the villain down for him to tell the location of Ana. Peter, as Daredevil, finds Ana and begins to fight her and Vermin gets involved. As the two villains fight, Peter and Vin escapes where Vin was last seen in the hospital. Peter swings by as Spider-Man and apologizes to Vin on what had happen. Vin punches him, then yells at him. Peter looks at Vin and then leaves.

New Ways To Die

Spider-Man vs the Thunderbolts
Spider-Man vs the Thunderbolts
Spider-Man is confronted by the Thunderbolts for being framed on a series of murders. He couldn't beat them alone and Eddie Brock got mixed up in the skirmish. When the Venom symbiote tried to re-bond to Eddie again, his skin acted as a corrosive to the symbiote and Eddie turned into the " Anti-Venom," the effect of Mister Negative's power affecting the remaining symbiote in his body bonding with his white blood cells. It also managed to cure Eddie's cancer, which was being caused by the symbiote in the first place. With his new found power, Anti-Venom tried to cleanse the symbiote out of Mac Gargan, which severely weakened him, and also Spider-Man, who had a few remaining symbiote substances within his system, but he was also cleansing his irradiated blood, thus runs the risk of depowering him. With the help of Anti-Venom, Spider-Man was able to escape the Thunderbolts.

Spider-Man later had to rescue a group of jurors riding in the subway train from the Shocker, who was hired to eliminate the jurors by a mobster. The wallcrawler

fought the Shocker to defend the jurors, but the Shocker created a cave-in in one section of the subway, blocking the path for the train. Spidey managed to knock the Shocker out and use his own vibro-smashers to destroy the rubble blocking the subway. As soon as Spider-Man gets to apprehend Shocker, he uses a shock from his belt and makes a hole in the streets above to escape. Next, he came to the aid of Harry Osborn, who was being attacked by a crazed Molten Man. Spider-Man cannot fight Molten Man because his powers have gone unstable but he managed to use his powers at his advantage, trapping him in the asphalt. Harry gives Molten Man a cure that has been developed by Oscorp that works perfectly returning him into normal.

Spidey meets the President

In Washington, Peter was assigned to take pictures of the inauguration of Barack Obama, the first African-American president. Outside of the Capitol Building, Peter was running late for the inauguration ceremony and he forgot his credentials as a photographer. He sneaked inside using his spider powers but he saw Senator John McCain and thought that he saw him used his powers. But he was actually an admirer of his for the picture of Spider-Man in the Daily Bugle. The senator gave him his credential that he had forgotten and awaited for the president to be sworn in. When the president-elect arrived, Peter was ready to take pictures of him, but when another Barack Obama arrived at inauguration, Peter became suspicious and his spider sense went off.

Spider-Man and Obama
Spider-Man and Obama
Peter changed into Spider-Man and when the secret service was not able to discern which is the impostor, Spider-Man suggested to ask questions that only the true president-elect can answer. When the Obama wasn't able to answer any of the questions asked to him, he was unmasked and revealed to be the Chameleon. Spider-Man defeats his old villain and is taken by the secret service. Spider-Man was able to meet the president-elect Barack Obama and he even said that he was a fan of the webslinger. As Barack Obama took his oath as the next president, Spider-Man took his picture and realized that change has come to the Marvel Universe.

Spider-Man's Character Assassination

Spider-Man is seen trying to escape the police after he was deemed the prime suspect of a string of murders with all the victims having a spider-tracer attached in their body. He was then shot in the right arm but manage to escape. When Carlie Cooper discovered a bag full of spider-tracers under the bed of Vin Gonzales, she hypothesizes that the police might be responsible for the murders and Spider-Man is being set up. When Menace returns to attack Hollister's campaign supporters, Spider-Man came to the rescue, but due to his weakened state, he was easily defeated by Menace and ended up being arrested by the arriving police. When the police was interrogating Spider-Man, the chief was about to pull out his mask to reveal his identity, but he was stop by Spider-Man's lawyer, Matt Murdock. he

defends Spider-Man as he has still rights to remain silent, thus protecting his true identity. He was also advised by Matt not to breakout of the prison and warn him that he is in violation of the SHRA. When he was at his trial, he pleaded "not guilty" to the spider-tracer killings and suddenly another Spider-Man appeared in the court room. After the trial, Matt talk about how he had Iron Fist and Black Cat dressed up to be Spider-Man to distract the public hearing that another person is responsible to the spider-tracer killings. Before he left, Matt left a book to Spider-Man and inside was his web-shooter smuggled from the police evidence room. When Vin Gonzales was arrested and put in the same prison as Spider-Man, he wondered why he was arrested (he didn't knew that he planted the spider-tracer on the bodies that was supposed to be murdered). When Vin was getting beaten up by the other prisoners, Spider-Man broke out of his cell and warned that they should not harm him again, or else..

24/7

When Spider-Man met up with the new mayor of New York city, former Daily Bugle editor-in-chief, J. Jonah Jameson, he talk to him about a truce between them. But Jameson only replied by dispatching a special squad trained to capture him. When he escape, Spider-Man decided that he will doing superheroics all week long just to make Jameson mad. Peter goes as Spider-Man and after three days comes back home. After taking a shower,

Peter was surprised to see Aunt May has gone into a relationship with J. Jonah Jameson Sr. At first he was about this but had a chan ge of heart when he felt that his Aunt was happy about what she has right now. Peter goes off as Spider-Man and was later caught by the Anti-Spider Squad but escaped the when he was saved by the civilians he help earlier. Spider-Man has now been out for four days with little rest and was again almost captured by the Anti-Spider Squad. When he goes on patrolling the city he faced off with the Vulture. Thinking it was going to be an easy fight because of his experience fighting the Vulture in the past, Peter was surprised to realize that the Vulture apparently has real wings instead of a harness, and could spit acid from his mouth, which manage to blind Spider-Man. As the fight continues on to a baseball game where Jameson is attending, Spider-Man was able to defeat the Vulture but it was not appreciated by the people because it ruined their night and the game. Spider-Man was again angry but not towards Jameson but to Norman Osborn and sets his sights for him

American Son

Spider-Man confronts his former archenemy when he was asking Harry to be recruited on the Dark Avengers. They both fought with Spider-Man clearly having the advantage. But when Spider-Man was about to finish Norman off, Harry spoke to the phone and told his father that he accepts his invitation. This left Spider-Man both angered and disappointed, not knowing that his best friend is with his fiance, Lily Hollister. Fearing for the safety of Harry and his father's plans for him, Spider-Man kidnaps and imprisons Venom with the help of the Invisible Woman. Spider-Man then poses as the Venom and sneaks in the Avengers Tower where he battled the Dark Avenger's Wolverine, Daken, whom he defeated. When Spider-Man confronted Harry, but he was shot in the legs by Hawkeye, who is actually Bullseye. Spider-Man beg Harry not to trust his father, but Norman silenced him by punching him

He then find Harry and told him everything about his father and his fiance before collapsing due to the beatdown he received from Norman's torture. Norman begins to pummel Spider-Man, but in return he was being attacked by an angry Harry using his American Son armor. The fight spills down to the streets and Harry told Spider-Man to get involved, but he ignored the request by stopping Menace from interfering. So he didn't finished him off and simply left him battered and bloody.

Last Legs

Once more Spider-Man and Daredevil team up against a bar full of super villains, or at least lesser known rouges. Afer winning Daredevil and Spidey meet up at a rooftop, where Spider-man decides to tell Daredevil his secret identity. Daredevil stops him and mentions that somehow his powers are blocking him from knowing so that means he shouldn't really know. Daredevil swings away while Peter enters the offices of Front Line to give the picture of the most recent heroic effort of Spider-Man. Both Robbie Robertson and Norah leave the Front Line to go to J.J.J Sr. and May's Rehearsal Dinner, something that Peter fails to go to because he was at the paper. From various monitors one of May's old flames is watching closely, Doctor Octopus. The next day is the wedding but everything goes wrong, The catering service is shut down, the ceremony performer is no longer certified, and the marriage license record is erased. Jonah Sr. thinks of this as an act of his son and confronts him on a press conference about Swimsuit models. May goes to the cemetery and confronts her husband's grave asking if it is right for her to be married and doubts the fact she has his blessing. Peter tries to invite Carlie Cooper as his "plus one " for the wedding but she tells him she already has an invitation and a plus one. They both agree on meeting up at Jonah Sr.'s apartment after May tell Peter something terrible has happened. As Spider-Man he heads there but is confronted with the city. New York starts attacking Spidey and the man behind it is reveals himself as Doctor Octopus. Carlie goes to the apartment and instead of Peter finds Norah trying to break in. They both enter the apartment to find it trashed completely. Since New York is out to get Spider-Man (or at least Doctor Octopus controlling the New York) and he is endangering innocent people the New Avengers join in the fight to protect him. At the same time the Fantastic Four are trying to stop this their own way. Carlie and Norah are on the investigation on what happened to JJJ Sr. and get caught during it all. Peter listens through the phone as Carlie and Norah get taken away and heads to the FF for help. Johnny decides to help since he thinks the girls Peter knows are hot. They both track the girls into Doc Ock's lair where it's discovered Doc Ock has four extra arms and his body is no longer functioning, as in Doc Ock is now just a machine. Carlie, Norah and Jonah are made undergo the same process but The Human Torch and Spider-Man free them. After a heated battle between the Doc and Spidey, Octavius flees along with his new machinery. With his brains Spider-Man stops New York from going haywire using Reed Richards methods before he can apply them himself. The Wedding is back on and even Johnny Storm is going, as Carlie Cooper's "plus one". Back at his

apartment Peter is getting ready but has no "plus one" to take with him. Michelle Gonzales, his roommate, offers to be taken with him. The wedding starts and finally J. Jonah Jameson Sr. and May Reily Parker get married. At the bouquet toss an unexpected guest catches the bouquet. Anna Watson's "plus one" arrives, Mary Jane.

Red Headed Stranger

After his aunt's wedding Peter wakes up from a horrible hangover. To his surprise he doesn't wake up alone, Michelle Gonzales, his date for the wedding wakes up next to him. Peter barely being able to wake up from his hangover tells Michelle he can't remember anything, so she storms out of his room with nothing but a sheet over her. Peter remembers that there was someone important at the wedding and Mary Jane's picture pops into his head. He remembers talking to her until he was far from sober and remembers making a date with her to meet somewhere, sometime. He was so drunk he forgets those details. Thinking that after the night before Michelle is pretty much going to kick him out of the apartment he tries to meet up with Harry and see if he can stay with him a couple of days. The Parker luck gets to him when he figures out Harry Osborn is MIA and has moved out of his apartment. He tries with Betty Brant but Batty has taken a roommate already, Glory Grant. Then he tries Aunt May's house, since she is on her honeymoon he figures he could stay there a few nights. Again no luck since the Reilly's are staying over. He swings across the city while he tries to remember the place he was

supposed to meet MJ at. A fire starts close by and Spider-Man goes over to help once done there his memory comes back and remembers the place where he was going to meet MJ. Peter arrives and waits for her to arrive but this time she doesn't arrive. In Mary Jane's apartment she is barely waking up at 9'o clock PM. She realizes she missed her date with Peter and then watches the news. On the news the fire where Spider-Man helped out is announced. and Mary Jane realizes at least Peter found something to keep him busy, hinting that she might know about Spider-man's real identity.

- Tenth of September -
The Chameleon is back and his methods are getting worse. As his methods to take over a "new face" he listens to recorded phone calls and mimics the person while the person who's life he's about to take is tied on a chair. Then he uses some kind of goop on the person's face to get his mask. Then he kills the person in a tank of acid.

Over at 47th street in the Diamond District, Spider-Man is fighting Slyde, a supposed dead villain. In the end Slyde was an under cover cop sent by Mayor J. Jonah Jameson along with a whole new lot of Spider-Slayers. Spidey gets away, and arrives as Peter for a job interview, Mayor J. Jonah Jameson as his legal photographer. This job meant working under Jameson's secretary Glory Grant.

Once out, and scoring getting the job Peter's Spidey's Sense started tingling and a man dressed as the Statute of Liberty incapacitates Peter.

In the ambulance the "statue" reveals itself as the Chameleon, taking the new Mayor's photographer.

Over at the Coffee Bean Mary Jane visits the new janitor, Harry Osborn and finds out he's living there at the coffee place.

The Chameleon then takes over his methods on Peter. Then as Peter descends in the acid tank MJ calls Peter's cell phone. Mj tells the Chameleon, posing as Peter Harry's status and asked for a date. Then Peter (Chameleon) agrees to meet Mary Jane while in the acid tank Peter, apparently disintegrates.

The Chameleon is now stalking Mary Jane as Peter. He also makes out with Michelle Gonzales. (Peter's roommate). Spider-Man survived the acit pit by webbing himself up. The chameleon later on is then shown tto be teaming up with Kraven's widow, which will set up the Gauntlet.

A villian from the clone saga days known as Kaine, who was originally killed by Deadpool, comes back to get his revenge on Peter, at the same time Raptor is trying to kill him, believing he is Ben Reily.

Powers of Spider-Man

Spider-Sense

Spidey knowing the Vulture's coming
Spidey knowing the Vulture's coming
Spider-Man possesses many incredible abilities, but his most amazing power must be his uncanny spider-sense. This strange tingling sensation originates in the back of his skull, warns him of danger. The danger could be something immediate, like a gun being aimed at him. Even point blank no escape and he's already gone. It can also be a punch being thrown at the back of his head or in front of his face. Or it could be something subtle, like a slippery floor or a sandwich that contained tainted meat. While his spider-sense cannot tell Spider-Man the exact nature of a particular threat, it always lets him know when and which way to move in order to avoid the danger. Spider-Man's spider-sense is like having a personal radar unit. He doesn't have to worry about watching where he's walking or web-slinging because it always guides him away from danger. Loose ceiling tiles or rotted rooftops don't trouble Spider-Man because his spider-sense warns him in plenty of time to avoid them. Even if he were trapped in complete darkness, his spider-sense would prevent him from bumping into anything. And Spidey's spider-sense tingles if someone can see the webslinger out of costume, warning him that he may be spotted. Spider-Man's senses can also detect radio signals he also can ignore is spider-sense. His spider-sense also doesn't go off for those he doesn't feel are threats. His spider-sense can also be used like Daredevil's radar sense. Peter's spider-sense can be used to communicate with spiders and other arthropods and is a possibly part of his spider-sense. Spider-Man can also sense air currents with his body hairs and can use his webs to sense vibrations. He is also able to see in the dark using his spider-sense. He can also locate things he is searching for with it.

Wall Crawling

Spider-Man scaling a building
Spider-Man scaling a building
One of Spider-Man's most valuable assets is his clinging ability. Like a giant spider, his hands and feet support him against the pull of gravity as though they have thousands of tiny suction cups.

Perhaps as remarkable as his clinging ability itself is the ease with which Spidey can use it. There is never any hint of strain, or difficulty in his climbing to walls or ceilings. In fact, he is just as much at home on any surface as an actual Spider would be.

No one knows exactly how Spider-Man's wall-crawling ability works. Peter Parker has often theorized that he has a form of bio-magnetic power that allows him to increase the attraction between the molecules in his body with those of the surfaces he climbs. On a History Channel special about Spider-Man, scientists had come up with a theory that the wall clinging is technically possible for Spider-Man. They believe that Spider-Man's wall-clinging ability is similar to a certain spider that emits very thin strands of hair on it's feet, allowing it to cling on all kinds of surface including glass. All that is known for certain is that he can stick to anything. No matter how smooth or slippery a surface may be, Spidey can attach himself to the surface. He just has to keep concentrating until he bonds with it. Unlike his spider-sense, the web head's clinging power is strictly a conscious act. He can never stick to something by accident. He must deliberately press his hands against an object and choose to adhere to it. Of course, Spidey likes to show off as much as the next fellow. He occasionally runs upside down along a ceiling or strides up a wall. Peter can now stick to things throughout his whole body. He is also able to stick things onto his body, like a spider does for it's young. This was shown in the last issue of the Other.

Spider-Man's Strength and Agility

Spider-Man's agility
Spider-Man's agility
Having the proportionate strength of a spider, Spider-Man is one of the most powerful super-heroes. Only Thor, the Hulk , and the Thing have greater strength. (And one must remember that Peter Parker is still a teenager, not having quite reached his full maturity yet.) Among the most nimble of all adventurers, Spider-Man's leaping ability also deserves mention. He is able to leap the width of an average city street, and can attain a height of three stories with one spider-powered spring. With his assumption of the proportionate strength of a spider, it is only natural for the costumed crusader to possess the uncanny balancing ability of the wonderful arachnids as well. Suffice it to say that the amazing Spider-Man is easily the greatest balancer of any human being on Earth.

Shortly after he was bitten by the radioactive spider that gave him his amazing powers, Peter Parker accidentally crushed a steel pipe as if it was paper. He was astonished to discover that he now possessed superhuman strength. Since then, Spider-Man has often told people that he has the proportionate strength of a spider.(Although it also should be noted the strength could come more from the radiation) Spider-Man's super strength adds to his durability as strength usually does makes his muscle and tissue density super durable, although he still not invulnerable. While not as strong as the Incredible Hulk, the Mighty Thor, or the Thing, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is able to lift almost 10 tons. He can bend a solid iron bar with his bare hands and shatter a concrete wall with a single punch. And in one, spider-powered spring, he has leaped the height of three stories, or the width of a highway. After the Other Spider-Man's strength was increased to 20 tons, but due to Mephisto erasing his marriage he has his original strength back.

Even more impressive than his spider-like strength is Spider-Man's amazing speed and agility. When it comes to quick-thinking, death-defying, lightning-swift acrobatic stunts, the wall-crawling wonder is truly without equal. Spider-Man moves with a fluid and casual grace that can't be equaled by trained super-humans such as Captain America or Daredevil. He dodges bullets and energy blast mid flight, runs faster then a car and web swings faster then that, leaps from rooftops, somersaults over flagpoles, tumbles off water towers, and balances on top of light poles as he routinely travels across the city in his own unique manner. Spider-Man's reflexes were originally 15 times that of a normal humans, they are now around 18 times.

Webbing

Anatomy of a Web Shooter
Anatomy of a Web Shooter
Because of recent events Peter no longer needs his web shooters. He has evolved a pair of biological web shooters that allow him to generate his own web in his forearms and shoot it from his wrists in a similar manner to what his web shooters would do. This also eliminates the need he otherwise had when he ran out of web fluid and did not have a replacement cartridges on him. He has not demonstrated much of an upper limit to this ability yet, and is able to generate massive amounts of webbing very quickly when he focuses. He was able to produce enough webbing when he "let loose" to stop Iron Man and almost cover the alley they were in. It seems that his webs were erased from existence when Mephisto erased their marriage and he is seen wearing his webshooters.

Night Vision

Watching through the night
Watching through the night
After the events of "the Other," Spider-Man has gained the night vision ability. He could now see in the dark using his spider-sense to know where to go.

Stingers

Spider-Man grew retractable stingers that appear from under his wrists. The stingers are covered in venom and can paralyze a person. Spider-Man has trouble controlling them and they only appear in serious moments of stress however Miss Arrow said they would only appear when facing someone rooted in chaos and darkness. Whether this is true is unknown. Since Brand New Day it is hard too see if Spidey still has them.

Healing Factor

After being attacked by Rhino recently Spider-Man says that he has been healing far faster than he used to which was already super humanly fast do to his metabolism. He also entered into a state of hibernation were all old wounds were healed such as his lost eye and even his lost tonsils. Whether this will happen again is unknown.

Mutations of Spider-Man

Six Arm Spider-Man

When Spider-Man tried to get rid of his powers by creating a formula, it actually gave him six arms. But with the help of Dr. Curt Connors, they created a new formula based on Morbius' blood and he was returned back to normal. In one of his adventures in the Savage Land, he was mutated into a Man-Spider where his behavior is more animalistic. And during the Avengers Disassembled, the Queen transformed Spider-Man into the Man-Spider again and finally into a large spider. Unlike his first mutation, his mind is still intact  when the Queen changed him.

Spider-Hulk

Spider-Hulk
Spider-Hulk

When Hulk shows up in Connecticut, Armad tracks him down and tries to absorb his power. Hulk wakes up, kills him and Spider-Man, who have been following reports of a wild beast in the New England wilderness, gets stuck with Armad's energy packed device. Hulk nearly drowns him, then leaves, and Peter heads back to New York feeling woozy and uncomfortable. Confronted on a rooftop by a pair of security guards, Spidey gets angry and bam! He's a big green guy in a little red suit. Spider is the strongest one there is! When Spider gets angry, Spider gets strong! Spider SMASH! Obviously he eventually gets the excess energy drained from him.

Spider-Carnage

Spider-Carnage
Spider-Carnage
While Ben Reilly was the current Spider-Man, he found out that Carnage was on the loose- yet its host Cletus Kassady was in prison. Ben found out that the symbiote was controlling John Jameson, but when he approached John the symbiote decided that Ben was a better host than John and bonded with him. Ben managed to control the symbiote for a short while, but eventually it snuck back to Cletus Kassady.

Spider-Lizard

When Peter tried to help cure Curt Connors of his Lizard persona, Spider-Man accidentally absorbed radioactive feedback from the machine they were using, transferring the reptilian skills to himself. After a battle with the Schizoid Man, Spider-Man turned into Spider-Lizard. While the police and SWAT tried to drown the creature by flooding the city sewers, Curt Connors managed to find a cure and turn Spider-Man to his normal self.
Spider-Phoenix
Spider-Phoenix

Spider-Phoenix

Yet another one of Spider-Man's transformations, for this one he turned into Phoenix after she was apparently killed. Soon after he turned into Spider-Phoenix, all of his deadliest foes began to attack him. It turned out that it was merely a sophisticated illusion created by Arcade, with technology he had won in a trade with a visiting off-world soldier.

Spider-Morphosis
Spider-Morphosis

Spider-Morphosis

The supervillain Plantman infected the mutant Synch with a mutagenic pollen, as revenge for a previous defeat by Generation X. The pollen transformed Synch into a giant, misshapen beast. When Spider-Man confronted Synch, he was also trapped by Plantman and transformed. Fortunately, although he was a monster, Spider-Man kept his intelligence. Spider-Man exposed Plantman to the same pollen that had transformed him and Synch, and was able to get the antidote.

The Other
The Other
Other

When Peter was overcome with rage when Morlun attacked Mary Jane he lost himself to the "Other" and his teeth become razor sharp, his eyes became red and his stingers first appeared. Since his other powers remained his other may still be able to control him in times of crisis. Since the events of One More Day, it is hard to tell if Peter still has these powers.

Spider-Man's Skills

On top of his spider-given powers Peter is of genius level intelligence It has even been stated that Peter scored as high on some of the same testing scores as Reed Richards did when he was Peter's age. He is especially gifted in the sciences such as mechanics, biology and physics. He has built many devices in his career as Spider-Man and is a skilled photographer and teacher. He has developed a unique style of combat through his years. Spider-Man while not having been train has went toe toe with even the best marvel fighters. His spider-sense alone is like a close combat expert provided with Spider-Man's reflexes and split second quickness. His spider-sense tells peter when and how to move and counter adaptively to even the best fighter's moves if peter should choose to just fight solely on those instincts. Spider-man is also use to fighting and teaming up with most of the super villains and heroes in the marvel universe and has often uses his mind to over come many battles with physics used as tactical skills, quick witted thinking, outside the box and/or ingenuity and science in sometimes short instances (think MacGyver) Peter has a great sense of right and wrong and though rarely is he ever a leader he has shown great common sense and is very inspiring and is admired by many young heroes and given the chance can prove his worth.. He has even shown some skill in Latin recently.

Spider-Man's Equipment

Web Shooters

As a brilliant science student, Spider-Man has devoted long hours of study to learning everything he can about spiders. Although it is not a matter of
Spider-Man's gadgets
Spider-Man's gadgets
public knowledge, he is probably the world's greatest authority on the subject of webs and their creation. His web-making ability is one of his most closely-guarded secrets. He makes his own web fluid under the most exacting conditions in the lab, storing it in small, compact cylinders like miniature toothpaste tubes. Spider-Man's web-shooter is worn at his wrist, and activated by the slightest touch of his finger upon the super-sensitive electrode located on the palm of his hand. His webbing is his most potent weapons, Spider-Man always carries spare web-fluid capsules clipped onto his ingeniously designed utility belt.

By adjusting the nozzle of his web-shooter in one easy motion, Spidey can eject his web fluid in any one of the three different ways:
  1. As a thin, incredibly strong line
  2. As a fine, quick-spreading spray
  3. As a thick, tremendously adhesive liquid.
  4.

Early in his career Peter had developed a set of wrist gauntlets that produced a chemical that when mixed with air hardened to form a web-like material. These Web Shooters are activated by a small button at the base of the palm which requires two quick taps (so that he does not hit it on accident). This webbing has several uses. First and foremost he can shoot out and spin long strands of it where one end will attach to a building, bridge or other anchor, and he will grab the other hand to swing by it. This is Spider-Man's primary means of transportation. By a succession of yanking on webs to propel himself and using his own downward momentum in his favor, Peter is able to travel quite fast and accurately in this manner. The webs that the shooters create is very strong, enabling him to swing along with a passenger.Webbing can also be used in a more offensive manner. He can spin webs which will entangle his opponent, he has been seen to web up his hands to produce a sort of boxing gloves, and to hurl projectiles composed of webbing, and create a variety of useful objects including parachutes, clubs, wings, and other things from his webbing. There have been several enhancements on his webbing over the years, and several formulas have been created to combat specific villains such as more adhesive versions or explosive versions. Peter has even been shown to adapt the impact webbing that engulfs the target one hit from the Scarlet Spider (his clone) and Peter has made flame retard webbing (against Human Torch), non conductive (Electro)and even acid webbing and "web bullets" The webbing that Spider-Man generates is designed to dissolve within about an hour so that New York is not blanketed in a layer of webbing and so that he does not leave a permanent trail which people can follow. Peter has currently gone back to using his web-shooters in the Brand New Day storyline.

Defensively Spider-Man has used his webbing as a web shield against bullets, energy blast and to smother explosives or to block gun holes. Making the webbing used for this extra dense with lots of coil over coil tightly over the other. (webshield/explosive smothering)

Utility Belt

Spider-Man’s utility belt allows him to carry any necessary equipment he needs when he goes out on patrol. It can carry extra web cartridges, spider-tracers, and his camera. The belt also has a powerful light that is connected to the belt’s buckle. The light is also filtered through a lens that creates a picture of Spider-Man’s mask, which he uses to scare regular criminals.

Spider-Signal

Spider-Man's spider signal is to signal out villains. He uses it in the Spectacular Spider-Man series. He uses it before he captured Flint Marko and Alex O'Hirn. It can also be used in darkness to help light the place up, and to let police officers and other such law enforcers know that he is near.

Spider-Man's Tracer
Spider-Man's Tracer

Spider-Tracer

The Spider-Tracer is a typical tracker that is shaped liked a spider and is aerodynamic for flight. The tracers are very small so it will not be noticed when attached on a person. He usually uses the tracers to track objects or people. He also uses it on enemies that are escaping in order for Spider-Man to track them easier. It was originally a small signal tracer, but eventually Peter was able to modify his tracers for him to be able to track it using his spider-sense. However, he can only track it with his spider-sense within a 100 yard radius, but he also has a receiver that can trace at longer distances. Ben Reilly (Scarlet Spider) has also been shown to be able to sense the tracers with his spider-sense. Peter has made a modified version of the spider-tracer for Mary Jane to wear on her necklace. She began using this after she was kidnapped by an obsessed fan.

The Spidey Cam
The Spidey Cam

Camera

Since Peter became a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle, he sells pictures of Spider-Man to J. Jonah Jameson. Peter originally used his father’s camera in which he would place it near the area he is going to rescue and use the webbing to hold it up somewhere. Peter eventually got better at taking pictures of himself as he was able to utilize the timer and the motion sensors of the camera. A typical tactic of Peter's is to hang the camera from a piece of webbing, and set it to take a picture at certain intervals. This saves him having to take pictures in the middle of a fight. Peter eventually upgrades his camera. Peter did not earn much at the Daily Bugle, but eventually they would publish a book that contained all his pictures, which helped him with his finances. Peter eventually won a Pulitzer Prize for his photos of the Sentry, however due to the Sentry being erased from everyone’s memory, no one, including Peter remembers about the Pulitzer Prize.

Mask

The white areas in Spider-Mans eye cut-outs on his mask are really clever plastic lenses of the two-way mirror type. He can see out very clearly, but no one can see in. Therefore, he can never be recognized by the color of his eyes. These ingenious plastic lenses also protect his eyes from dust, dirt, and the glare of the sun. Spider-Man's colorful head-mask conceals his features and also effectively muffles his voice, making it unrecognizable.

Spider-Mobile

The Spider-Mobile Built By Johnny
The Spider-Mobile Built By Johnny
The Spider-Mobile would first appear in The Amazing Spider-Man #130 in 1974. Spider-Man would be approached by Corona Motors who offers him a nonpolluting vehicle in which they wanted him to promote. However, Peter turned it down and approaches his friend Johnny Storm to create their own vehicle. They customized a dune buggy to have web-launchers and a spider-signal. It could also be disguised as a regular car so that no one would speculate that he was Spider-Man. Spider-Man would put it into action but it is quickly wrecked because Mysterio tricked Peter into driving it off a pier. Later the Tinkerer would be able to recover the wrecked dune buggy and re-modify it to be able to drive up walls and to drive itself. The Tinkerer sent it to fight Spider-Man, in which Spider-Man would barely defeat his own car.

Costumes

Spider-Man's Costumes
Spider-Man's Costumes
These are all the costumes Spidey had been over the years. .This are all of the costumes. Peter has gone through several costume changes over the years. Most of them are only superficially changed as they provide no real function. A few of the suits he has donned, however, have had special purposes. At one point he created a special armored suit which he used to fight villains. This suit was bulky and heavy, stifling his acrobatic nature so it did not last. Perhaps one of his most famous costume changes was the use of the Venom Symbiote after the Secret Wars. This alien acted as a biological costume giving him biological webbing (before he evolved his own), and enhanced several of his abilities such as his speed, strength, and reaction time. A side effect was that Venom bonded with a host's mind to a degree as well as its body. Peter did not like what he was becoming with the alien influencing his behavior so he got rid of his suit. This suit would go on to bond with Eddie Brock to become one of spider-man's greatest villains. Spider-Man has gone through the most costume changes of any comic superhero. Although most of the costume changes were due to alternate realities, some had actual abilities. This is a more in-depth look at the chronology of his suits.

Red & Blue

The original costume

Negative Spider-Man
Negative Spider-Man
The red and blue costume is the original costume that Spider-Man debuted in, in Amazing Fantasy #15. The red and blue costume has lasted for over forty years in Spider-Man history. It was also originally red and black with blue shading to make the character look deeper. It also originally had the webbing under his armpits but it extended all the way to his wrists. Readers could also see the lines that showed Peter wore his civilian clothing underneath his Spider-Man costume. As Spider-Man gained different artists the webbing under his armpits kept shrinking until artist began to only draw it if they want it. The colors also eventually changed to red and blue with black shading to give the character depth. When Peter began using the symbiote costume, he basically put his red and blue costume away until he discovered the symbiote was a life organism. He returns to his original red and blue costume and used it for a long time. During the clone saga, when Ben was given the Spider-Man mantle, he revamped the blue and red costume to have a bigger spider symbol with the web-shooters on the outside of his costume. Eventually Peter would re-take the mantle and return with the original red and blue costume except without webs underneath the armpits. When Mr. Negative was able to sway Spider-Man into his side, he used his powers to not only change Spider-Man's mind, but also alter his costume where the color motif has been reversed

Symbiote Suit

During the Secret Wars, an omnipotent being that became known as the Beyonder transported several Heroes and Villains to a world he constructed. He wanted to witness the traits of good versus evil. He promised to give the winners whatever they wished for. After a battle, Spider-Man attempted to gain a new costume from a machine Reed Richards, the ability to appear as different clothing and produce its own webbing. Mr. Fantastic, had discovered. The result was an alien symbiote. It granted additional strength and protection. Upon returning to Earth, Spider-Man discovered that his new costume was in fact a living creature. It had been taking over Peter's sleeping body during the night and swinging through the city on its own. Spider-Man went to the Fantastic Four's headquarters to seek Reed Richards advice. They managed to separate the costume from Spider-Man, which lead to the Human Torch's attempt to further humiliate Spider-Man by forcing him to leave in the Amazing Bag-Man costume. Spider-Man continued fighting crime in a Black costume that was made sewn. When the Symbiote escaped, it sought out Spider-Man. It changed its appearance as an unsuspecting Peter put it on to go out. Spider-Man was now in a battle swinging over the city as the Symbiote wanted to bond permanently with him. Spider-Man knew that sonics and loud noise was the alien's weakness so he headed for a church bell tower. The loud ringing was enough to drive the suit away but also caused Peter to pass out. In what appeared to be its dying moments, the Symbiote dragged Peter's unconscious body safely away. Meanwhile in the church was a down-ridden Eddie Brock. Having lost his job and reputation due to an event involving Spider-Man, Brock was contemplating suicide. He was at the church, asking for forgiveness when the Symbiote detected his hatred for Spider-Man. The two soon merged and became Venom.

Secret War Costume

Spider-Man's Insulated Armor
Spider-Man's Insulated Armor

In Nick Fury's Secret War Spider-Man wore a special costume. It worked as impact armor, much like Kree army had. It is unknown what happened to the costume after the mission, probably it was destroyed to cover the tracks.

Identity Crisis Costumes

Spider-Man had to change his costume again when the Identity Crisis story arc was happening, Norman Osborn and the Trapster frames Spider-Man of murder. Spider-Man was also caught on tape assaulting Norman Osborn, which resulted in a million dollar reward for his capture. Spider-Man did the only thing he could; he donned a new costume to until he can clear his name of murder. However, Peter realizes that it would be suspicious if Spider-Man disappears and a new hero arrives with the same

powers has his, so Peter decides to don four different costumes. Peter used Hornet and Prodigy to fight crime while using Dusk and Ricochet to “pretend” to be criminals while also gaining access to the criminal underworld in order to clear his name. Hornet was one of his costumes which were designed by his wife Mary Jane. It contained weapon gauntlets which were based on the Scarlet Spider’s stingers, and it also contained wings that were controlled through the harness created by the Prowler. The Hornet became very popular with the public and the media, but during a fight with the Vulture, the Vulture figures out that Hornet was really Spider-Man and exposes him. Prodigy was also designed by Mary Jane and it was padded to make Peter look bigger then he originally is. He also wore armor that were bullet proof. His “evil” persona is Ricochet, the costume was also designed by Mary Jane. He wore a jacket with an “R” on his chest, Peter also uses weapons and relies mainly on his agility in this persona. The last persona is Dusk, Peter pretended to be a mercenary with a more serious personality unlike his usual “joker” self. While being Dusk, Peter would eventually team up with the Trapster himself and discover that he was the one that framed him. After Peter was able to clear his name, he abandons all four personas, but these costumes was taken over by Black Marvel, who gave them to four individuals to form the Slingers.

The Enigma Force boost Spider-Man base powers to astronomical levels, his spider-sense was increase to the point that the sensation has become painful, fire concussive blast from his hands, and manipulate the form of his webbing.

Daredevil's Costume

Spider-Man once wore a costume of Daredevil to the public to prove that Matt Murdock (Daredevil's alter ego) and Daredevil are two different people. When the daughter of Kraven, Ana, stole his costume, Spider-Man had to borrow Daredevil's costume again.

Scarlet Spider Costume

This costume was worn only couple of times by Peter Parker, when Ben Reilly took his place in prison. Later Ben resumed using this costume. Ben obtains this costume when he was forced back into action because “With great power, comes great responsibility.” Ben decides to help people with one of his extra Spider-Man tig hts but makes a little difference with a sweater he found at the mall that had a giant spider symbol on it. He also wears his webshooter on his wrist outside his costume, that doesn't only shoots webbing but also a special dense ball of web called impact webbing that Ben use to knock out or smother an enemy into a big blob of web and he also use miniature darts coated with a chemical that incapacitates an enemy which he calls "stingers" that he also shoots from this webshooters. When Ben took the mantle of Spider-Man, he revamped the original costume to have a giant Spider symbol on his chest and used web-shooters on the outside like his Scarlet Spider costume.

Fantastic Four Costume

Peter briefly wore the costume of the Fantastic Four with a paper bag to cover his identity. This happened right after Reed Richards discovers that the symbiote costume is an alien life-form, they took it off and Peter had no costume to hide his identity. Johnny Storm decides to let him use one of the Fantastic Four costumes and he decides to use a paper bag to cover his face to temporarily fight crime until he gets another costume.

Negative Zone

In one occasion, Spider-Man entered The Negative Zone to rescue three children trapped there. When he entered, his normal red-and-blue costume changed to a black-and gray colored one. The place where the part of the costume is colored red is now black and the where was the blue colored section is now gray. The webbing outline also disappeared.

Protective Wear

Spider-Man wore a short-lived silver colored armor suit that was made in the Empire State University laboratory. It protected him from high-caliber bullets but it slowed his agility because of its weight and it is also vulnerable to acid. He also created an electricity-insulated version of the costume to fight Electro.

Iron Spider (Stark Armor)
Iron Spider (Stark Armor)

Iron Spider

After Peter gained additional powers from the Other, Tony Stark gave Spider-Man a new costume, the Iron Spider. The armor enhances his already formidable strength and agility as well as giving him a set of retractable spider legs or "waldoes". Tony said that the waldoes are to fragile to be used in battle, but Spider-Man reluctantly used it to battle Titanium Man and later, Captain America during the Civil War. The suit enhances Spider-Man's abilities with some modifications that Tony Stark enjoys as Iron Man such as tracking technology, vitals monitors, wings that give him the ability to glide, and a bullet-proof exterior. Tony put a failsafe mechanism in the Iron Spider costume should he go rogue during the Civil War, which he did after seeing the conditions of the captives in the Negative Zone

prison, but Peter knew about this and override the failsafe.

The Iron-Spider costume would later be used for the Scarlet Spiders of Tony Stark's Initiative program.

Final Costume?

When Spider-Man had a mystical experience where he witnessed the beginning and the end of his superhero career, he witnessed his future self sporting a new costume that is a utilitarian reversible jacket. Later, the superhero tailor, Leo Zelinsky gave the design of the said costume to Spider-Man and even offered him a discount, without the knowledge of Spider-Man's epiphany.

. However Norman Osborn had found out about Peter's powers and had his team expose him to his OZ formula. He became a green goblin like monster and most of his team died in the explosion. He then killed his wife and almost his son. He later attacked Peter at school but had thought to have died during the fight. Peter soon found out about the Kingpin and his group. He battled Mr. Big and his Enforcers before trying to take on Fisk himself. He was defeated by his super thug Electro and unmasked. Peter would soon try again this time defeating and exposing the Kingpin as a criminal. Peter and Mary Jane eventually start dating and she would discover his alter-ego Spider-Man. Mary Jane would repair Peter’s ripped Spider costumes whenever he needed. Peter soon found out that Otto Octavius had survived the explosion and was trying to kill Justin Hammer who he thought caused the explosion. After being beaten Peter was able to stop Doc Ock and Kraven the Hunter who was hunting him. One day the Green Goblin kidnaps Mary Jane and throws her off the Queensboro bridge. Peter was able to save Mary Jane almost similar to the way Gwen Stacy was killed in the 616 universe.Harry was forced to stab his dad in the back and both were taken by SHIELD. Gwen Stacy would get introduced later, and when her father died due to a criminal dressing as Spider-man who Peter stopped, Aunt May takes her in.
Spider-Man bonded with The Suit.

Peter also reconnects with his old friend Eddie Brock after Mary Jane breaks up with him. Eddie shows him a special suit created by their dads that was supposed to cure cancer. Instead it makes Peter stronger, faster and gives a healing factor, but the suit tries to take him over so he destroys it. However, feeling guilty as it is the only thing Eddie received from his father, Peter told Eddie about his other identity and what he had done to the suit. Annoyed that Peter had betrayed him, Eddie exposed himself to another sample and attacked Peter, but was electrocuted during the battle. Even though his body disappeared, Peter found out that Eddie's stuff was gone from his dormitory at Empire State University, leading Peter to believe that Eddie was alive.

Peter also meets a thief named Black Cat who hates Kingpin and is black-mailed by Osborn and his "Six" to attack the President but hes arrests them again with the Ultimates' help. Peter and Gwen would live together for awhile and she would discover his secret identity too after Doc Ock escapes from SHIELD. Eventually Gwen would die at the hands of Carnage, a monster created by Doc Conners from Peter's DNA. Peter destroys Carnage by throwing him into a smoke stack. When Harry Osborn returns and had apparently turned into the Hobgoblin, Mary Jane was caught in the middle and was nearly killed. This lead to the break up of Peter and Mary Jane, Peter decided that he did not want to put Mary Jane in danger because of his alter-ego.

Peter rebounds quickly though, he began dating female X-Men, Kitty Pryde. He decides to go out with her because she can phase through solid objects and avoid getting hurt. During the clone saga, Peter was cloned multiple times by Dr. Octopus. After the issue was resolved, one clone remained living and it decided to start a new life elsewhere. That clone was altered to be female and was named Jessica Drew. Mary Jane was also kidnapped by one of the clones and turned into Demogoblin so she would be safe but the Fantastic Four cured her. After the clone saga, Peter and Mary Jane seemed to have reconciled and Peter decides to break up with Kitty, however he has not told her yet and she just transferred to Midtown High School. Peter also joined a group of heroes led by Daredevil and had the Kingpin arrested. After Aunt May recovered from the coma, Peter and Aunt May had a talk about him being Spider-Man, and Peter told her everything, from when Peter let the man who would murder Uncle Ben go, to Osborn, to the clones. Aunt May would eventually accept everything Peter told her and they continued on with their lives. Meanwhile, Norman has escaped prison again and is attempting to destroy Nick Fury's publicly. He goes on television and tells a bunch of lies about being detained without trial and being injected with untested formulas for a genetic war. Peter and Mary Jane catches part of the interview live while they were walking in town. Both of them freak out and head back home, MJ's mother picks her up and tells her that they are leaving town due to Osborn. Peter then heads home to find his Aunt with Miles Warren. After Warren leaves, Peter tells Aunt May about Norman's escape and that she has to leave to safety.

After Aunt May leaves, Peter begins his investigation by visiting one of Norman's apartments. There, he runs into Electro, who was showering at the moment. The two get into a fight, and Electro flees out into the city naked. Eventually, SHIELD agents come to aid Spider-Man, and were able to defeat Electro. However, they arrest Spider-Man also. Spider-Man soon finds himself detained by SHIELD and learns that Nick Fury is "not there at the moment," with the new SHIELD director Carol Danvers ( Ms. Marvel). She asks him some questions, and eventually gets a call about Norman. Just as she was about to say something to Peter, Kitty arrives to break him out. They get outside of the SHIELD detainment area, and are stopped by Danvers and a group of SHIELD soldiers. She tells Peter that she was using him as bait to lure Osborn, but the plans have changed and the two are required to follow SHIELD and battle Osborn right now making them both temporary SHIELD agents. They find Osborn trying to kill his former accountant, and Spider-Man engages right away. The two battle for a bit and eventually tosses each other out the window. Spider-Man's web fluids are empty due to Danvers playing around with them. Kitty catches Spider-Man and phases both of them through the ground to avoid death. After they resurface, SHIELD soldiers point guns at them and demand to know where Osborn is. Apparently, Osborn got away, and Danvers tells the soldiers to put their guns down. Peter, angry at how the SHIELD agents acted, yelled at Danvers and took Kitty home.

Peter sleeps at home alone now since Osborn is back. Luckily, there are some SHIELD agents outside his home keeping on eye on him. After Peter has a chat with the agents, he goes back into his house to discover Norman waiting for him. Norman wants Peter to reveal to the world that Norman created Spider-Man, to prove to the world that Norman is a genius and has created a great hero. A note slips under Peter's door and tells him to turn on CNN. Once he does, both he and Norman see Harry on television revealing everything about Norman. This angers Norman and he transforms into the Green Goblin, knocks Peter out and goes after Harry. He attacks the Helicarrier and Harry transforms into his Goblin form instead of getting to safety. Spider-Man soon shows up to fight Norman along with the SHIELD agents.

Father vs Son
Father vs Son
Harry again tries to fight his father, but is beaten to death. In guilt Norman turns back into his human form and asks the SHIELD agents to kill him. Danvers gladly shots him in the head. The next day Peter gives a speech in class about how Harry was his friend and a hero while Mary Jane and Liz cried. When Peter, Johnny Storm, Bobby Drake, MJ Watson, Kitty Pryde and Liz Allen where all in the beach for a bonfire, Liz caught fire suddenly and realized that she is a mutant, even though she has an innate fear of mutants. As soon as she came in terms of herself on being mutant, Magneto shows up and claimed that Liz belongs to him and that he will take to his father, who is a mutant terrorist. When the X-Men confronted Magneto, Liz ran home. When she cannot decided who's side to be on, Liz went to Mary Jane's house, where Peter revealed to her that he is Spider-Man. Iceman arrived and Liz decided to go with him to the Xavier Institute to train herself in controlling her powers.

When Kitty Pryde heard of what happened with Liz (now Firestar) was furious and gave her baby project to Peter for him to take care of. Peter took the doll to work at the Daily Bugle. A janitor then went to J. Jonah's office after Jonah had told Betty Brant that she wasn't a good reporter. Inside the office the janitor turned out to Omega Red, mad about some news in the newspaper that made him a bad reputation. Just when he was going to get his revenge Spider-man came through the window. after an epic battle, with the occasionally joke or two Spidey won but both of them destroyed the Daily Bugle office. Along with the office so went the baby doll and Peter's G.P.A. After explaining to the teacher what had happened they both got a B. Kitty was glad while Peter mourned over his loss of an A Mary Jane now worked at the school's video pod and was working on her latest project with the help of her boyfriend.

She was working on observing how the Kingpin's absence affected people but she couldn't introduce her name right. Peter and MJ then witnessed another one of Shocker's villany attempt. Peter told MJ to film it for a good grade and them Spider-Man came into the picture. The Shocker and Spidey fought and surprisingly Peter lost and was taken away in a van. MJ called Kitty for help and showed her the video of what had happened. Kitty tried getting help from Johnny Storm but failed so they went to the police. Kitty made a deal so that Peter's secret identity was kept secret and that she would go inside and get him out. That's what they did while Peter was hanged upside down wrapped in chains and was tortured by Herman (Shocker). He told Spidey that he use to work for Roxxon and when he shocked Peter again the chain broke. Peter was mad so he started hitting Shocker but Kitty stopped him before it got worse. She got him out of there while the Police got the Shocker. When Peter asked how did they get find him Kitty gave credit to MJ and said she was an "awesome girlfriend". Peter answered to that "So were you".  The Beetle makes his debut by fighting Spider-Man and stealing a piece of the Venom suit, which prompted the return of the black Spider-Man and the Ultimates. The Ultimates then confiscate the Venom suit and Gwen Stacy returns in Peter's home. Eddie Brock goes to Peter's house and fought him and Carnage with the end result of Eddie absorbing the Carnage suit and leaving Peter and Gwen with their lives. Beetle is last seen returning to Latveria.

Peter Parker was one of many to die in Ultimatum
Peter Parker was one of many to die in Ultimatum
When Peter and Mary Jane was talking about their lives, MJ suddenly brought up the topic of having sex with Peter, which left him not understanding why is Mary Jane is avoiding him, only talking to him that maybe Jessica Jones, the head of their high school news channel has figured out that Peter is Spider-Man. Later, Spider-Man was enlisted to help a police officer to capture a bank robber named "Mysterio" but failed to do so. Peter and Mary Jane discuss their previous talk and that they might end up like Flash and Liz, where she is decided to have sex with him, but she would then backs out of it, which resulted in their break up. Peter reassured Mary Jane that even though he wanted to have sex with her, he will wait for her and he also wants to marry her in the future. While Peter and MJ are having their date, Johnny Storm called Peter and asked him to bail him out on his date who is not having a good time with him. Peter told him that he was on a middle of a date, so Johnny says to him that he should call again in the next five minutes. When he did, Johnny took it and told his date that he needs to go because Doctor Doom is attacking the city. While flying, the Human Torch had a run-in with the Vulture, but was having a hard time fighting him until Spider-Woman came and defeated the villain. Johnny asked if they met and she replied that they have, sort of (since Spider-Woman is the clone Spider-Man). As she leave, Johnny seems to be infatuated to her. Later he meets up with Peter, MJ, and Kitty Pryde in the city, all the while the police comes to Aunt May's house and ask some questions about her and her nephew's relationship with Spider-Man. As she was arrested by the police, a giant wave of water hits the city, submerging it with seawater. As Spider-Man tries to save as much people as he can, he is confronted by the Hulk. In the ensuing fight between Peter and the Hulk, Parker is able to talk enough sense into Hulk to reach Banner. The two begin a team-up to save New Yorkers, coming to an end when Dr. Strange's house explodes. In the second flash created from Strange's house, the one releasing Dormammu, MJ and Kitty Pryde found Peter's mask on a street full of dead bodies .From that moment ,Peter is assumed dead.

Post-Ultimatum

It's six months after the Ultimatum wave hit and Peter Parker is working again, but not as a web designer. At Burger Frog Peter is a cashier, facing old ladies who think are being given "lip" to the boss who orders him to wear a hat. Mary jane is a reporter a for the school's student newscast in midtownhigh.com. New York is being nice to Spider-Man even when he does nothing and Gwen is kissing Peter.

One night as Spider-Man Peter finds a store where some thugs force themselves into a store where a hodded man had already done the "super hero thing" . Some cops give the glory to Spider-Man and the hooded figure watches over.

Back at home Peter finds Gwen waiting for him in the attic. She welcomes him with a kiss and before that goes any further Peter sneaks in so his Aunt May won't find them being "naughty". Aunt May tells Peter that Kitty called for him and jelously Gwen tells him that "she is probably calling to tell him she's still in love with him". Short after Johnny Storm arrives to ask for a place to stay the night and then collapes over him.

The Kingpin is back in town and when entering his office he get's thrown out of his office by a new villain, Mysterio.

Age of Apocalypse (Earth-295)

In this alternate reality, Peter Parker was an acquaintance of Gwen Stacy, a member of the Human High Council. Unfortunately, though, he would never be a member himself as he was killed in one of Apocalypse's early cullings. Strangely, though, Charles Lehnsherr, Magneto and Rogue's son, are seen wearing a Spider-Man t-shirt. This might mean that Peter was not really killed and faked his own death, or someone else took on the mantle (and similar costume) of Spider-Man.

In the "What If Legion killed both Professor X and Magneto", one of Apocalypse's band of soldiers are clones of Spider- Man with the symbiote costume.

Days of Future Past (Earth-811)

Peter Parquagh of Earth-311
Peter Parquagh of Earth-311

Spider-Man has retired in The Moon, along with many of the other superheroes. Magneto recruits them as a last ditch effort to combat the Sentinels, but his true plan was to get the heroes killed in order to bring back the animosity between humans and mutants.

Marvel 1602 (Earth-311)

Peter Parquagh is a relatively minor character in the events of 1602, a young apprentice in the service of Sir Nicholas Fury. a running gag is shown as he is almost bitten by spiders every time but was later bitten by a one on the last page of the first mini-series' last issue. He is also shown that he cannot climb a tree. When a spider- bit him, it gave strange powers based on the capabilities of a spider, he dons a webbed mask and calls himself "The Spider".

MC2 (Earth-982)

In the MC2 universe, the time line started 15 years before the 616 counter-part. In this continuity, during the final battle with Norman Osborn as the Green Goblin, Spider-Man lost one of his legs which forced him to retire his Spider-Man mantle. He now works as a police scientist for the police department. Later, Kaine (one of Peter's clones) would reunite Peter and Mary Jane to their long lost daughter. Their daughter was kidnapped by a con-artist under the instruction of the Green Goblin. The couple named their daughter May "Mayday" Parker. May eventually inherited all of Peter's abilities and she would don the costume of Ben Reilly to fight crime as Spider-Girl. Peter occasionally helps out his daughter with his own Spider-Man costume. Peter and Mary Jane would have another baby coming. They feared for the baby during the pregnancy due to Peter's genetic code. However, the baby was born healthy and it was a boy. They named him Benjamin Richard Parker.

Gerald " Gerry" Drew, the son of the first Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew, also took the mantle of Spider-Man. Gerry is diagnosed with a blood-borne disease while still in the womb, due to his mother's history of radiation exposure. As a last resort, Jessica underwent the same experiment that gave her powers, believing that this would save him. Instead of curing his disorder, it gave Gerry spider-based powers. Gerry made his own costume and asked his mother to train him to become a superhero. House of M (Earth-58163)

In the House of M story arc, reality had been altered to have mutants as the majority of the population, and humans as the minority. Peter Parker was a orphan at the age of six and was left to be taken care of by Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Peter attended Midtown High School where he was brilliant academically and was really good in science. Visiting an exhibit, Peter is bit on his hand by a spider that was irradiated by a particle beam. Walking through the streets, Peter is almost hit by a car but without thinking he leaps onto the side of a wall. This is when he realizes that he has powers similar to those of a spider. Testing out his new powers Peter joins a contest go up against Crusher Hogan and wins easily. There Peter would be spotted by a talent agent who promised to get Peter a t.v. appearance. Peter would create a new costume and with his new fame had promised to take care of his Aunt and Uncle. Unlike Earth-616 Spider-man, this Spider-man would stop the burglar who ran past him saving the owner of the wrestling arena thousands of dollars. As a thanks, the owner would give Peter a role as one of his wrestlers in his new wrestling league. The wrestling became a success and Peter would become famous. Also at this time a Mutant-Human War happened  and Peter was considered a mutant because of his spider like abilities. He lives his life like a celebrity because he was a mutant and a hero. Gwen Stacy was still alive and the couple got married and had a boy named Ritchie. Uncle Ben, Aunt May, and Captain George Stacy are also alive and well. Peter's family gained immunity for being human due to Peter being a "mutant." As for Mary Jane, she had become one of the most famous humans on the Earth being that normal humans don't get major roles in movies. Mary Jane and Peter star in a movie together. Peter ends up not only being a pro wrestler but also an actor. Peter would also reveal to the world about his identity thanks to Uncle Ben and this would give hope to all the mutants who are unfortunate enough to look like him.. Though  the war was over, however, Peter's life once again begins to unravel when his publicist, J. Jonah Jameson, finds Peter's journal and reveals to the world that Peter was not born a mutant. He also finds out the truth and that things aren't right because Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben are both alive. Eventually reality would be restored, however Peter retained all memories of that event and will always continue to wonder what life could have been like with Gwen Stacy.

He is later shown to have a cybernetic prosthetic leg and a repaired mask to cover his face again. His hunger started to fade and he decided to fight his fellow Galacti, with Luke Cage at his side. Later the rest of the Marvel Zombie's hunger would fade, they would become heroes again, and later help restore the human race. Only to be sent into another dimension, by an angry human.

Spider-Man in Video Games

In 1982, Parker Brothers published the first Spider-Man game for the Atari 2600 titled Spider-Man. The game involves climbing a sky scraper, rescuing hostages and defusing bombs set by the Green Goblin. The 1990's saw a flood of Spider-Man Video Games. The first game of the decade released was The Amazing Spider-Man, a puzzle action game released Amiga, PC:DOS, Commodore 64, and Atari ST. Another game, also titled " The Amazing Spider-Man" was released in 1990 for the Game Boy. The Game Boy titles spawned two sequels: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man 3: Invasion of the Spider-Slayers. In 1991 Sega released the first Spider-Man arcade game titled " Spider-Man: The Video Game". Sega also released The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin the same year. The Nintendo Home consoles were late to the Spider-Man party, but they saw many Spider-Man titles themselves. The first was Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six, released in 1992 and considered by some to be one of the worst Spider-Man games of all time.

Not all Spider-Man titles followed original story lines. In 1994 Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage was released for the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis. The game closely followed the Maximum Carnage Story Arch that was present in all of the Spider-Man titles. 1995 gave us Spider-Man and Venom: Separation Anxiety, which was released on the Sega Genesis, The Super Nintendo and the PC. That same year, Spider-Man: The Animated Series was released for The Genesis and the Super Nintendo; it followed the storyline of the series, with most of the characters being represented the way they were in the cartoon. The next Spider-Man game, Spider-Man: Web of Fire, was released for the Sega 32X. This game is one of the most rare and valuable Spider-Man games to date. For the next couple of years, no game completely dedicated to Spider-Man was released. He did however star in Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems and the Marvel vs Capcom series. Not until 2000 would Spider-Man return in his own game.

Spider-Man made his triumphant video game return in 2000, with not one, but two games, and a special guest appearance that year. Spider-Man for the Game Boy Color was published by Activision

and met with moderate success. Later that year "Spider-Man", developed by NeverSoft, for the PlayStation was released. The game was met with critical and commercial success. The game was ported over to the Nintendo 64 the following year, but lacked the full motion cut scenes due the systems hardware. In September of that year, Spider-Man made a special appearance in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 as a hidden character. In 2001 sequels to the successful Activision titles were released. "Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro" for the PlayStation and "Spider-Man 2: Sinister Six" for the Gameboy Color. Spider-Man made an early appearance on Nintendo's new handheld system, The Gameboy Advance with Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace. With the release of the Spider-Man films, the Spider-Man video games followed suit. Spider-Man: The Game was released in unison with the film in 2002. It was released on the PlayStation 2, The Nintendo GameCube, The Gameboy Advance, The Xbox and the PC. The game broke many sales records at the time. When Spider-Man 2 was released in June 2004, Spider-Man 2: The Game was released the day before. The game saw release on the same consoles as Spider-Man: The Game did, in addition to the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP. 2005 saw a comic related Spider-Man game hit the market; "Ultimate Spider-Man" followed many of the comic story arcs, and allowed the player to switch between Spider-Man and Venom. Spider-Man's latest film, Spider-Man 3 also saw the same video game treatment as it prior prequels. Spider-Man 3 was released on more consoles than any game before it. The game was available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and 3, Nintendo Wii, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, the Sony PSP and PC. Spider-Man: Friend or Foe was in October 2007 for Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, PC, PSP and Nintendo DS. This Spider-Man game features the villains from the Spider-Man films, but with a humorous twist. As of April 14th,2007 this is the most current Spider-Man game. Activision has announced a Spider-Man game for 2008, which is slated to be an original story not associated with the films.

Spider-Man would battle many classic villains and newer villains such as Green Goblin (Norman and Harry Osborn), Hobgoblin, the Chameleon, the Lizard, the Scorpion, Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, Rhino, the Kingpin of Crime, the Shocker, Vulture, Venom, and Carnage. Peter would eventually get into a romantic relationship with Felicia Hardy/Black Cat, and eventually fall for Mary Jane Watson. Although Gwen Stacy was never in the series, Marvel gave us a little teaser in the series finale story arc, having Spider-Man go to an alternate universe and meeting Gwen Stacy herself. A very important story arc in this series began as the finale of Season 3 in the episode entitled "Turning Point." In which the Green Goblin kidnaps Mary Jane and throws her off the George Washington Bridge, similar to the story arc "The Night Gwen Stacy Died." However, with the heavy censorship in the 1990s not allowing television to have heavy violence, death being a part of it. Marvel decided to have Mary Jane and the Green Goblin fall into an inter-dimension vortex instead. Season 4 was mostly about the guilt that Spider-Man has to carry for losing Mary Jane. He tries to rebound with the Black Cat, but Mary Jane eventually mysteriously returns to life. Season 5 starts off with the much anticipated Wedding of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson-Parker. With season 5 being the last season, Marvel dropped a bomb on us by revealing that Mary Jane was actually a clone created by Dr. Miles Warren. To make matters worst, the Mary Jane clone was water based and was made for Hydro-Man. Next, Marvel did a tribute to the Secret Wars. They decided to end the series with Spider-Man meeting Stan "The Man" Lee himself, and Madame Webb was going to help Spider-Man find the real Mary Jane, who was still alive somewhere.

The Spectacular Spider-Man Cast
The designs for the characters would also resembles those of The Batman tv series, and the characters would also be done by the same people who made The Batman's as well. This series is supposed to be like the 1960's version of Spider-Man and it doesn't start off like all of the other incarnations of Spider-Man starting off with Peter getting bitten by a radioactive spider. This series was meant to be like the original 1967 story line version of the spider also having a bit of a twist. Peter just starts his junior yeah of high school and gets pushed around by jocks but made friends in Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacy. Gwen Stacy is also Peters intellectual equal getting a job working for Doc. Connors. Gwen and Peter also see their old friend Eddie Brock who Peters call bro because their parents were best friends and one day going somewhere on a flight their plane crashed and both Eddie's and Peter's parents die. Ever since then Eddie and Peter has had a close friendship until recently when Peter betrays Doc Connors trust by taking pictures of Spider-Man and Doc Connors as the Lizard. This put a strain on their friendship and their "brotherhood" and what set it off was the day of the prom. Eddie knows about Gwen liking him but after all the things that he did wrong, it was the final straw when Peter goes to prom with Mary Jane. This series is full of twist in turns and ends its first season with Eddie being taken over by the symbiote and turning him onto Venom. After almost being beaten by Venom he saves Gwen and continues to have a Thanksgiving dinner. When Peter cooks the Thanksgiving dinner because Aunt May just got out of the hospital for a heart attack, Gwen brings over her family dinner and they're is a big dinner that everyone enjoys. When its over Peter washes the dishes and goes outside talking to Gwen thanking her for what she done and for always being there. As Gwen is about to leave she runs back, taking the advice MJ gave her, and gives Peter a kiss. Peter then realizes what Venom was talking about when he said that he is going to take away the person who means the most to him.

Spider-Man Trilogy

the for the very first time Spidey would be brought to the big screen. On May 1st the  live-action film blockbuster film "Spider-Man" was a critical and financial success. Peter Parker/ Spider-Man is played by Tobie Macguire. Mary Jane is of course the main love interest for Peter. The film displays a tense father/son relationship between Harry and the films villian Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin.
Peter is on a school field trip to a science lab, and Peter observes the spiders, and is bullied at the same time by Flash Thompson, who also is Mary Jane's boyfriend. When taking a picture of M.J., he is bitten by a radioactive spider. Norman Osborn is at Oscorp lab conducting super soldier expierements. The goverment shuns at his progress which has been going not the way Norman hoped it would be. Later, Osborn tells Mendel Strom that he must take the expierement. After the expierement is done, Norman is temporarily dead, but he comes back with 3 negativities of the serum, anger, violence, and insanity. He kills Mendel Strom, and thus becomes the Green Goblin. Later Peter is eating lunch at school when he notices wen sticking from his wrist to his lunch tray. When he tries to let go, his food hits Flash in the back of the head, which upsets him alot. Peter runs to his locker, and then senses some sort of danger behind he is able to dodge Flash's fist, and when Flash's friend go's from benhind at Peter, he makes an amazing jump, then punch's Flash out. He runs from school, and notices small hairs protruding from his hands. He than begins to climb runs, then jump buildings, and finally he remembers the web from the wrist. He tries several takes on this, but when he presses down, the web finally protrudes from his hand. He swings from a building, but splats into a billboard. He discusses with Mary Jane who lives next door to him, the incident at school and why she chosed Flash as a boyfriend. She really has no awnser for him. The next evening Peter is at a wrestling competition for some extra money. He goes under the alias "Spider-Man". He is put in a caged match and his opponent clearly has the muscular advantage over him. Peter amazingly defeats him, with his spiderpowers. After the match, a burglur runs right by him, and he does nothing to stop him. Outside he notices a group of civilians and police standing in a circle. He runs right in to the middle, and sees his beloved Uncle Ben dying from a gunshot the burglur. Peter than hunts down the man who killed his Uncle all the way to an abanded building. Peter is thinking of killing him, but realizes that would make him just as a big a scumbag as he was. The burglur than tries to shoot him, but Peter breaks his wrist, and the burglur falls out a window to his death. At his graduation, Peter is grieved with the loss of his Uncle, but recieves some kind words from Norman Osborn, whos son Harry that Flash and Mary Jane have broken up. Peter remembers his Uncle's words that:"With great power comes great responsiblilty". He is drawing out on a notepad what kind of costume would he want to wear.  Then comes up with the one he likes the most. Peter Parker now swings thru the rooftops of the big apple as Spider-Man. He is recognized as ahero for stopping robberers, murders, rapers and so forth. J.Jonah Jameson, editor-in-cheif of the Daily Bugle believes he is not ahero, but a menace. He puts out a reward for anyone how can get a decent picture of Spider-Man. Peter is the one who gets that pic, and a job as a freelance photographer at the Daily Bugle. He knows however that Jameson is going to slander his good work as Spider-Man, and just learns that Harry and Mary Jane are dating. At an Oscorp board meeting, the board tells an enraged Norman Osborn, that he is fired. At the Oscorp parade, he makes his public debut as the Green Goblin. He destroys padios, decintergrates the Oscorp board to ash with a pumpkin bomb. He notices Mary Jane falling from a ledge and glides over there. That just happens to be when Spider-Man attacks the goblin. They battle in the chaos, then the Goblin deserts saying they will meet again. Mary Jane falls from the ledge but Spider-Man saves her just in time. The next time the goblin and Spidey met was at the Daily Bugle where the Goblin is demanding the name of the man who takes Spider-Man's pictures. Spidey interrupted the conversation, but the goblin gases him to sleep, temporarily paralyzing him. He gives Spider-Man an ultimatum, join him, or everyone he loves will die. He gives some amount of time to think about it. When Spidey tries to save as many he can from a burning apartment building, the Goblin attacks him. He says he will never join him, and is forced to dodge the goblins batarangs. He suffers a minor laceration. He is able to make it out. Once out, he swings home to attend hs thanksgiving supper at Aunt May's with Mary Jane and the Osborns as their guests. Norman notices a dop of blood on Peter's floor. He then notices a cut on his arm, which is the exact same cut he recieved in the battle with the goblin. Norman realizes that Peter and Spider-Man are one, and leaves immediatley. His goblin side drives him to the point of wanting to kill Peter with no mercy. He aattacks Aunt May for his first move, his last move is kidnapping Mary Jane. Mirroring the death of Gwen Stacy story line, he holds her captive at the Queensboro bridge instead of the George Washington bridge. He also has a cargo of children. He throws Mary jane off the bridge the same time he throws off the cargo, Spidey saves both M.J. and the kids. The goblin then violently and brutally beats Spider-Man to a bloody pulp. When he mentions killing Mary Jane, he regains his strength to fight back, and thus begains beating down on his green enemy. When he unmasks himself to reveal he is Norman Osborn, he makes yet another offer. To have him as a son he never had. He of course says no, which he has his glider in the back ready to strike Parker from behind. Just like in the death of Gwen Stacy, Peter's spidersense kicked in, he dodges the glider, and impales Osborn, and kills him. Now he now he must be Spider-Man

Spider-Man 2

New York City now loves their new hero, Spider-Man, but at the same time,

One night that he is webslinging thru New York, he is depressed with the thought of Mary Jane having a boyfriend, and its not him. He runs out of web fluid, and cannot seem to stick to walls. In a scene depicting John Romita's artwork, Peter throws his costume in the garbage saying:"I am Spider-Man, no more". He seems to now have a normal life. He attends school on time, his grades are improving, he is happy. Harry, on the other hand, is obsessed with Spider-Man, his butler tells him to stop obsessing, but ignores him. Dock Ock arrives demanding the tritium stored in a secret vault. Harry mentions if he wants it he has to capture Spider-Man alive, and return him to the mansion. When Ock asks how to get to him, Harry says to politley ask Peter Parker, which he does not treat too kindly. He throes him against a wall, and takes Mary Jane hostage. Peter's powers come back, and goes looking for his costume which Jameson has put on his wall as a trophy. He thinks to himself that since Doc Ock is running thru New York with no one to stop him, he says that prehaps Spider-Man was a true hero after all. Just after that Peter takes his costume back, and Jameson takes back what he said about Spider-Man. Ock and Spider-Man battle on a moving train, where Spidey is forced to use lot of webbing to stop the out of control train from running off its tracks. He loses his mask, but proceeds to be a hero. He almost falls into the ocean in a exhausted man, if it wasn't for all the passangers catching him, and moving him, over thier heads, placig him down, and return him his mask. Ock returns and easily knocks him out. he returns Spidey bound in barb wire to Harry, and recieves the tritium. Harry unmasks him before stabbing him with a knife, and cannot believe that Peter was responsible. Doc does not give up and chokes him with one of his arms. Spider-Man, who has unmasked to reveal to Doc Ock that he is Parker, pleads with him to etroy the machine. Ock sacrifices himself to do it. This allows Spider-Man to save Mary Jane, who now knows her thoughts were true, on Spidey being Pete. Back at the Osborn mansion, Harry is a broken man now with the knowledge that the man he hates the most is also the only man he sees as his brother. In an vision he sees his dad taking to him thru the mirror telling him to exact revenge for him for his death. He declines, but his father keeps insinuating that he do so. Harry ends it by throwing a blade at the mirror. Then sees a part of the mansion he never saw before. A dark cobwebed area, that seems to have green lightening, he turns around, and there is the Green Goblin mask along with bombs, glider and the formula. Harry now knows his dad was the Green Goblin. The next day Mary Jane is supposed to marry John Jameson, but ditches instead. She goes to Peter and announces that she loves him. They kiss, and she sees him jump out of his apartment as Spider-Man.

Spider-Man arrives to save Mary Jane, but Venom can't show up on Spider-man's spidersense and easily gets an attack on him from behind, and Sandman is revealed to be a gigantic sand sized monster. He and Venom begin to assault on Spider-Man. Harry shows up and throws a pumpkin bomb at Sandman which stuns him and helps Spider-Man get up and together they fight Venom and Sandman.
