Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 has found himself stuck in the modem 616 era in the pages of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN. Well, there's good news if you like the futuristic wall crawler! Writer Peter David and artist Will Sliney are teaming-up to give Miguel his very own series! It's scheduled to arrive in July and the first cover -- as well as some sketches by Sliney -- have been posted.

Sliney talked about the book and made a comparison to Captain America. “Miguel is now trapped in the present day Marvel Universe, so straight away we have to deal with the fact that in the greatest of Marvel traditions, we have a hero out of time. I'm looking forward to drawing that iconic costume in the surroundings of some of New York's gritty and textured looking neighborhoods.” When asked what Spider-Man 2099 will call himself now that he'll be in the world with the original Spider-Man, Peter David replied, “How about ‘S-Man?’” David added the book will kick off with someone trying to "remove Miguel violently" from the era. It'll also address the people behind Spider Slayers being sold to other countries and dive into the Spider-Verse event.

*clears throat* I'm picking this up. Haven't read any of the old Spider-man 2099 series but I'm going to. I first saw Spider-Man 2099 on the marvel website years ago. My first experience with Miguel is with the Shattered Dimensions game. I like the character. I read the Superior Spider-Man arc with Miguel coming to the present. One of my favorite arcs in the Superior Spider-Man saga. He so shocking awesome.

I love Spidy 2099 but I really wish this was taking place in 2099 instead of modern day. Hopefully, Miguel will be able to distance himself enough from modern Spider-man to be able to stand on his own.

Fantastic. Glad Miguel is here to stay, he was the only worthwhile thing from the 2099 universe. Now they can salvage the best part and let the rest die.

Well... he isn't the "Original" Miguel O'Hara... he's the third Miguel O'Hara [not the Third "Spiderman 2099"... ] ...and I will miss forever the real Miguel and the true feel of the original 2099 Universe...

as far as im concerned if you can have 2 of the original 5 X-men running around, 2 Hawkeyes, 2 Nick Fury's, and a corp of Novas, you can just call Miguel who he is and that's Spider-Man.

What a great writer to work on this series. Although I am enjoying his writing on his Marvel Now's X-Factor series, but it's not like David's previous X-Factor that I thought it would be. So I'm definitely looking forward to the Spider-Man 2099 series!

First of all, I am so happy, he is my favorite Spider-Man, and does this mean he will be joining spider-verse?

Now second, how many freaking spider characters is this now? Spider-Man, Scarlet Spider, 2099, Venom, Toxin, Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl...Jesus Christ man.

New Spider-Man 2099 series by the original creator coming out on my birthday month? I'm sold. This should be a dream come true, but Marvel is putting out so many amazing books right now that I am going to have to nix something I love to make room for this. I guess for the next couple of months I will be reading my books very critically.

Oh boy, it keeps getting better and better. Go Miguel!!

I hope they deal with the biggest problems he'll face:

• No Social Security Card

• No job
• No money for rent

i doubt it considering he already has a job at Alchemax. also he probably forged the documents he needs to fit in. i bet it will just be him taking down Alchemax before they are too powerful

I know of him but I don't know him if that makes sense.Hopefully he will be a better character than Peter Parker the man child. I'll give it a try for a few issues.

I do love Peter David. But as someone who never read Spider-Man 2099 when it was out originally, I must say I hate the concept of the character, I was annoyed when he showed up in Dan Slott's Superior Spider-Man run, and in no way am interested in reading on on-going book about him. I am surprised to see so many people in the comments here on board for this.

I have been waiting for a year to hear this news. So glad it is David who will be writing. Can't wait
