Spider-Island is the new Marvel company event of the year by Dan Slott. Preluded by Infested, the concept is based around that the Jackal infests New Yorkers with Spider-Man's
powers. Here is a thread to discuss the event and it's various issues, as well as keep updates (also keep track of the details for wiki editing use). Included are as many of the various free
previews as could be found, and the parts from the free Daily Bugle. Special thanks to danhimself, Silkcuts, Babs and G-Man for staying on top of this.

I'm really excited for this event, and think as it gets going it will be all the rage. It seems like it's going to be a fun ride, and I'm particularly happy to see characters
like Cloak & Dagger, Spider-Girl, The Bride Of Nine Spiders, Hercules, Julia Carpenter and more involved. I also like that it's formatted in a fairly self contained manner like Chaos War was.

Super-star writer Dan Slott and fan-favorite Spidey artist Stefano Caselli are back! New York has been INFESTED and the web grows as it gets ready to explode into SPIDER-ISLAND! Normal people are getting Spider-Powers! But not all of them realize that with great power must also come ….you know the rest. Okay, sure we often say Peter Parker’s life will never be the same. But listen, pal, we’ve never been more serious. Heroes and villains are crawling all over Manhattan and no one knows why. This will change everything for Pete, for Spidey…and possibly for YOU! Agreed in full! My head was spinning from awesome overload.
Some of the most tight knit stuff I've read from marvel in awhile.
Cloak & Dagger was also fabulous. It reminded more of an Indy book than a conventional Marvel title actually.

That's too bad, your missing out on an already great story. I can see your view though I don't really share it. Ramos in my opinion can come off blocky at times, and his art
seems to only really work for me if it's put with something it fits, though I suppose the same can be said for anything. He seems to have really taken time and patience with
this (he's an integral part in the construction as is Slott in the SI idea making process so it's no small wonder) and what he's done is coming off great and not too cartoony.
Really fit's the story like a glove

    I have a question.
One of Tony's big predictions for Spider Island was that the man that Jackal had in the tube (the one that was turned into the second spider beast; the one that isn't Kaine) was indeed Ben Reily.

Personally I'm one in line to get Ben back too, in fact that he should have never been gotten rid of. But I try and read with the notion of expecting the unexpected, and not expecting the talent that be to write whats in my mind (though not ruling out petitions, they brought May Day Parker back a few times that way). That being said I think
InnerVenom123 got to the point on why it's entirely possible here in danhimself's ASM 666 thread

Read Deadly Foes, Emergence of Evil and I Love NY#4

    All pleasing to my eyes.
I Love NY continues as another story about random New Yorkers
getting Spider-powers and how they choose to use them (the first was about a cat, second
a toddler, third a mother), this one being about a group of robbers. Love these and would gobble up more.
A special guest from the Marvel Universe appears in this as well.

Deadly Foes as it says in the solicit has a story about Hobgoblin (the as of current Phil Urich)
and his finally making a move to kill Randy Robertson in an attempt to free up his girlfriend
Norah Winters for another suitor (this takes place prior to Spider-Island: Spider-Girl #1).
The second story focuses on the Jackal and answers many questions about Spider-Island,
Kaine and more. This one is a must read for the story-arc.
Here's a quick frame from that...

Emergence Of Evil as it states is mostly reprinted material, particular the first issue showing the
Punisher and Jackal, and the first two with the Hobgoblin ( Roderick Kingsley ), with refurbished art.
The original material in this is a wrap-around story featuring Madame Web/Julia Carpenter.
It seems to be a continuation of what we saw in FCBD Amazing Spider-Man. One detail that
seemed important dropped here is that " someone " is blocking Julia's ability to see the web
of life in full and in relation to the Spider-Island event. Another image is also shown with
Spider-Man gloves covered in blood (in FCBD Julia insists that by the end of this Peter will
have to kill to succeed despite his recent mantra that no one dies on his watch)
    --------
    Todays updates:

quick bit of Venom and Anti-Venom from Venom #7

    Amazing Spider-Man #668 preview

    Spider-Island: Deadly Hands Of Kung-Fu #1 preview

An interview with Fred Van Lente about his involvement in Herc, Spider-Woman and Deadly Foes,
and what's to come as well as some interesting pieces of information for thought.
    --------
    Other news:
    - The Spider-Island Twitter page can be joined here for those interested.
    - Spider-Island sells out! ASM#666, SI: C&D#1, Venom#5, and SI:DF all hit second printings. (will post the new variants when time allows)

I was disappointed that Emergence of Evil was just a reprint...even if it had refurbished art it was still a reprint....I Love New York has so far been the real gem of the arc

I wouldn't suggest EOE as essential reading for the story (at least not as it stands?) in any case.
ILNY is just fabu, wish it was much longer. Cloak & Dagger is top of my list as well, and Deadly Hands
Of Kung-Fu looks really nice by the previews.
