"It's entirely your choice."
Synopsis: Cloak and Dagger comes face to face with Mr. Negative.
What's Good?
When you have a writer like Nick Spencer, his way of storytelling and dialogue are what makes his stories great. The opening is an example of that, as Mr. Negative shows Dagger a f**ked up dream sequence. But he doesn't stop there. The main focus in this issue (besides the artwork) is not the action pages, but the actions taken place and the witty dialogue. Despite being in the hands of Mr. Negative, I love the conversation Tandy have with him, as she explains the usual problem when it comes to dying at the hands of someone you never met before, yet you try everything in your power to prevent it, but end up dying anyway. Seriously, villains never seem to understand that logic.
Another factor to what makes this series appealing is the artwork by Emma Rios. Her artistic skills are so beautiful and also morbid in some pages. I'm not afraid of spiders, but seeing people mutating into huge spiders? That's something entirely different. Even with the few fight pages in this issue, the detail is there, like Tandy's movements as she avoids giant spiders, or the couple of pages dedicated to Cloak taking out Mr. Negative's soldiers and showing how he was taken hostage. And the final page just made things even sweeter.
What's Bad?
I couldn't find anything wrong with this issue. It does boarders on some familiar lines for the final issue, but that's okay.
Overall: Spencer and Rios make an incredible team. I really wouldn't mind Rios do some work in Morning Glories. When it comes to the three part Spider-Island tie-ins, this book is my favorite.
