Spider-Girl (Corazón)
Character » Spider-Girl (Corazón) appears in 340 issues.
Anya Sofía Corazón is a 17 year old super-heroine who originally went by the name Araña and had a symbiotic exoskeleton which emanated from her spider-shaped tattoo. She then lost those powers and instead gained new powers similar to that of Spider-Man. Anya currently goes by the name of Spider-Girl.
Spider-Girl cancelled with issue #8
"Well, no surprise there. I suspect the name change confused people. "
I know it peed off a lot of Arana's fans. I suspect this is their rebellion against the name change.
Well they also took a character that did have a fan base, cancelled a title that had good sales and a loved female character. Then cancelled her series, took her name and gave it to a character who was having a better following in Ms. Marvel and Spider-man when her last series didn't even get 8 issues last time.
"that title just a stigma attached to it. "
It was a daring move, but one that nobody wanted. I guess it's only a matter of time before she becomes Arana again...
I didn't read it but I wasn't going to get it because I didn't think it would last long, and it didn't

" I think Arana should just got to the Young Avengers or just head over to the FF since she has a personal connection with Sue is great for the Future Foundation. "that would be pretty cool, and she could train with spidey now that hes on the team
Ah, this sucks. Poor little Anya just can't get a break. marvel should just give her a recurring role in another book, like they were doing in Ms. Marvel, and build up her fan base. Maybe she'll have another shot at her own series eventually. I just hope she does fade away into character limbo.
Exactly!!" Well they also took a character that did have a fan base, cancelled a title that had good sales and a loved female character. They should make her a secondary character in another book, be it Young avengers or Miss Marvel.
(and also... can't we have MayDay back?? :/)
i am kinda upset about this. i really enjoyed the book. i think marvel needs to invest in their female characters more. the only female book i can think of right now that is left is x-23. while dc has wonder woman, supergirl. power girl, batgirl. and pretty soon batwoman.
I've been a fan since Amazing Fantasy and for me the name change wasn't a big deal. The problem with the series is the generic costume she now has and the fact that she doesn't have any powers. A Spider-Girl who can't cling to walls? Really?!?
But it looks like she's getting her powers back in the Spider-Island event coming up so maybe she'll get another chance.
