Speedsters

Speedsters is a comic book team

There hasn't been any recent activity for this object.

This group arose out of Flash Volume 2, as Wally West ties together the speed users. It is prompted by the discovery of the speed force and the help of veteran Speedsters.

Early Speedsters

Speedsters are the group of speed endowed individuals from the pages of the Flash Volume 2 (1987-Present). It can be said that this group first began to be recognized with Wally West interaction with the Kapitalist Kourier (formerly Russia's Red Trinity, Flash v2 006). However, the interaction with Wally and other speedsters is loose until Flash v2 073-079 in which Barry Allen supposedly returns, bringing Jay Garrick back to help deal with the excitement and suspicion. From here, Johnny Quick, Jesse Quick (now Liberty Belle), Jay Garrick, and Max Mercury begin to make common appearances.

Terminal Velocity (Flash v2 91-100)

However, what solidifies the Speedsters is the introduction of the Speed Force, which Max believes ties all Speedsters together. With the attack of the Terrorist organization known as Kobra, Wally begins to realize the risk of accessing the speed force, and therefore, calls the Speedsters together in order to defeat Kobra and train young Bart Allen. However, after disappearing into the Speed Force, Wally finds a "grounding" to earth in his girlfriend, Linda Park West, and when he comes back he has a higher knowledge and direct access to the force.

Dead Heat (Flash v2 108-111)

The Speedsters are called together again when a cult of speed arises led by Savitar and a member of the group Blue Trinity, Kristina. Savitar believes that speed is the ultimate paradise, and will stop at nothing to access it. Jay Garrick, Johnny Quick, Jesse Quick, Max Mercury, Bart Allen, and Wally West team up to defeat Savitar. However, Johnny Quick is killed in battle, and Wally, in order to end Savitar's madness, grants Savitar's wish and pushes him into the speed force.

Chain Lightning (Flash v2 143-150)

Here, a curse is laid on Barry Allen, in which Barry's long lost Twin, Malcolm Thawne, gain's access to a mystical blue flame that allows one's desires to become reality. This curse promises the death of two Flashes before Barry Allen dies. All who come in contact with the Blue gem become corrupted by this curse. Wally, with the aid of the other speedsters, races forward into the future meeting other speedsters and Flashes that aid in defeating Cobalt Blue.

Blitz (Flash v2 197-200)

Hunter Zolomon, in an attempt to go back into time and regain his legs, ends up destroying the Cosmic treadmill and getting infused with time. Zolomon becomes Zoom, but his speed is based on bursts forward in time and space instead of actual speed. His goal is to make Wally a better hero through Adversity. Here, the Speedsters (what is left after Johnny's death and Max's disappearance into the Speed force (Impulse 89)) gather in order to channel their speed into Wally so that Wally can move faster than Zoom. In doing this, Wally catches Zoom and forces him to freeze between times in a rift caused by Zoom's speed.
