Majestic and Spartan have been friends since before their ship crash landed on Earth thousands of years ago. In the 70s they were both members of Team 1 and unfortunate circumstances forced Majestic to kill Spartan (at the time still an organic being that went by the name John Colt). When the Wildcats were lost in space and Majestic joined the team under Savant, he was again forced to kill Spartan when his body (apparently not completely destroyed the first time) was brought back to life and was pretending to be Kaizen Gamorra. After taking a trip to the DC universe and coming back to a reality that was not his own, Majestic had to kill Spartan a *third* time because he had been taken over by Daemonites and it because of the Void energy inside him it was the only way to return reality to how it should be. When Majestic returned to his own time he and Spartan teamed up against their own people when they tried to take over the Earth.
