There are German, Italian, Irish, African, Canadian, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian supheroes (A list and B list), but not too many Latino heroes. Why? For the record, I'm spanish and the closest thing I've seen to a Latino A lister is the Blue Beetle and he's more of a B or C lister.
Spain
Location » Spain appears in 907 issues.
The Kingdom of Spain is a country located in the Iberian Peninsula and a member state of the European Union.
Why are there really no Spanish superheroes?
Tell me about it, I put together a list of the ones I could think of and there were not that many at all
"Maya Lopez? "
Yeah, she's like the only Marvel one and Blue Beetle's the like the only DC ones.
I mean why is it harder for a spanish superhero to be as popular as someone like Storm (African), Captain America (Irish), or Black Widow (Russian)?
lol I hear ya loud and clear. When people see a Spanish person where I'm at, they assume we're Mexican lol.
And I forgot about Spider-Man 2099. Haven't seen him in the comics since the 90's lol
"To be fair next to none of the countries you mention there are actually represented bt an A lister. 99.9% of superheroes are white Americans. There are German, Italian, Irish, African, Canadian, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian supheroes (A list and B list), but not too many Latino heroes. Blue Beetle's pretty cule and getting a big push right now.
I'm Irish and what do I got? Banshee, a D list X-guy who they killed off to show us what a bad @$$ a villain who's now dead or missing in Action was :(

You kidding? You got Captain America (his parents were Irish immigrants). I'm pretty sure Daredevil's Irish too, lol.
Oh and we both get Spidey 2099 (Miguel O'Hara)
" @gunjin said:" charles xavier,"Did I miss something? "
Yes, I thought he was English or something?
" @gunjin said:Cap's Irish? :S How many generation removed is he? I wasn't aware of this."Maya Lopez? "Yeah, she's like the only Marvel one and Blue Beetle's the like the only DC ones. Is Spidey 2099 Spanish? Hmm....Miquelle O' Harra? Maybe actually. Spanish/ Irish?

Didn't know Xavier was Spanish. Is it the name? He's always been drawn kinda pale and when ever I've seen him in his younger days with hair I seem to remember him bein' blonde or something.
Dude Cap's parents were literally right off the boat from Ireland lol
And Spidey 2099 is half Mexican half Irish (odd mix if ya ask me, lol)

I kinda think of DD as more American but he is from an Irish back ground I suppose. On his father's side at least. I just always kinda go by how many generations removed a person is. After all there're a lot of real life Americans who claim to be from a certain back ground even if the last several generations of their family were born and grew up in the US and may well have mixed since. I've spoken to several folks who've climed to be from several different places when by now they're really American. The US is strange like that. One coukld argue the only true Americans are the Native Americans after all. Controversial I know. It's not my own opinion :)
" @Gylan Thomas: i'm just going off the etymology (?) as xavier is a spelling of javier a la 1602. "I guess it's possible he's got some Spanish in him. Spanish sailor settled in Ireland and England after the Battle of Trafalgar. (I think. Battle might be the wrong one)

Scot's can't be superheroes. They'd never keep a cool head in a situation. They'd be like ginger Wolverines :P

I was nto aware of the Cap thing 'till this thread. Explains why every one likes him ;)
I hope the my 2099 we're all odd mixes liek Miguelle O' Hara :D

If your talking about nationality, a lot on countries are under-represented. Truthfully, I wish Marvel would go back to the days when they placed more emphasis on people's nationality, like they did in the first issues of The Uncanny X-Men back in the 70's.
If you talking about ethnicity, then I agree, Certain minorities are underrepresented. Truthfully I'm surprised that the comic book population hasn't created more Hispanic characters to attract more Hispanic customers, considering there are an increasing number of Hispanic people in the population. DC is the worst offender. Do you remember the "Just Us League" from the old Tiny Tune's Adventures" cartoon.
When I think of how DC treats minorities in relation to A-Listers I think of that phrase.
(If your asking why my post is in all bold print, I tried to change it to regular print, but whenever I press the post button it posts as bold.)
not a lot of well-known heroes;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Latino_superheroes
Ultimate Tony Stark appears on the list; heroes with current ongoings?
I'm a fan of White Tiger; read White Tiger (Angela Del Toro) a couple days ago
she already has more control over the amulet then her uncle
hope she continues developing powers and gets powers like Iron Fist; her powers do come from a K'un Lun amulet after all!
Spanish Super Heroes = Living Lightning, El Aguila, Firebird, Sunspot, Magma, El Dorado, Fire, Blue Beetle, and Zorro!
There's Blue Beetle, Sunspot, Zorro, Tarantula, Firebird, Renee Montoya, Vibe, Bushmaster, Firebrand, Kyle Rayner, Fire, Bane, Aztek, Cecilia Reyes, Skin, Rictor
There's quite a few more, but I hope that helps.
I'm Australian, we don't exactly get a good showing either.
Basically, if you're not caucasian American, you're going to have issues finding a lot of characters from your race. No point complaining about it.
I was relly referring to both actually, lol. I mean a few Mexican superheroes exist, but where are the Puerto Ricans? The Cubans? The Venezuelans?
I'm Cuban and the closest thing to a hero we've got is Scarface, lol
Oh I'm not complaining (sorry if you guys thought I was), I was just asking why, lol. I've always thought about it and I figure I might as well post about it
You are all talking about latino superheroes, but spanish from Spain?
And, are there heroes or villains from Barcelona? Or catalan at less?
