A race of sapient Artificial-Intelligences that operate as a hive-mind, the geth were created by the quarians to be their own personal servant force. Once their intelligence started evolving, however, the quarians panicked and tried to exterminate them. The geth fought back, engulfing the planet Rannoch in a war that claimed billions of lives and forced the quarians off their homeworld to be cosmic nomads. Since then, the geth have been upheld as a cautionary tale against the development of AI's.
