Songbird began her career as a supervillain under the name Screaming Mimi with the Grapplers and Masters Of Evil. She has since then been trying to redeem herself by joining the Thunderbolts. When Songbird was young she had many things go wrong. Her mother had gone to prison for robbery. Her dad was a drunk and many kids teased her. One day she just couldn't take any of it anymore. So she ended up running away from home. She lived on the streets cold at nights. She took up her mothers name Mimi. As she got older she got involved with a criminal named Mike. He set her up by reporting her to police with stolen goods. So she went to jail also like her mother. There she met Marian Pouncy. Marian got Mimi involved in masked wrestling. So she joined a team called the the Grapplers. They were criminals who were mostly all enhanced in power some way. They went into many fights with heroes like Quasar but lost. So eventually she left the team. Thats when she met Helmut Zemo who let her join the Masters of evil. There she met someone by the name of Angar the Screamer. The two became close since they had similar powers. But, one day Angar was killed during a crime. This made Mimi so mad she screamed so much that she destroyed her voice. Zemo later got The Fixer to grant her some new powers to shape sound into constructs that had some properties of solid objects, incuding wings allowing her to fly. That's when the Masters of Evil became known as the Thunderbolts (as part of an elaborate plan to acquire the Fantastic Four's technology, among other things) and Mimi began going by Songbird. In that time she fell in love with MACH-IV (the former Beetle) who was also her trainer. Songbird later rebeled against Zemo so they could show they were reformed. But after that MACH-IV went to jail to show he was good. Then the Thunderbolts seperated so Songbird went on until she joined the newer version of the Thunderbolts with MACH-IV.
