Solo Avengers # 19 - Desert Doom; The Vanities of Philip Whitehead

Hawkeye chases the Orb across the Mojave Desert. Both the Orb's motorbike and Hawkeye's skycycle are destroyed in the process. The Orb looks badly hurt, so Hawkeye drags him across the desert until their reach a tropical domed enclosure. Inside is a huge garden that attempts to eat the Orb. After killing the tree, Hawkeye and Orb are confronted by Plantman.

Black Panther is having a fundraiser for Zambia, when on the return flight to Wakanda his plane crashes. Apparently a supernatural beast appears once every ten years and its Black Panther's sacred duty to fight it. He preps up on mystical herbs and seeks the evil. His friend Philip Whitehead follows and gets caught up in the action to save Black Panther who slays the beast. Philip Whitehead got to play hero but died as a result of it.
