The legendary Harvey Kurtzman drew several adventures of the Unknown Soldier in 1943. The character, similar in concept to Captain Courageous, was discontinued in 1947, by which time he was called simply, The Unknown.
Appearing intuitively, "whenever democratic peoples face their darkest hour," the Soldier Unknown can fly and is strong enough to punch down a stone wall. The character describes himself as "the spirit of the boys who died to see that our nation shall live forever."
The Soldier could fly, and move so fast that he could create small tornado, he also carred a gun that fired not bullits, but exploding "nitro pellits."
He is unrelated to the DC comics war hero The Unknown Soldier seen in Star Spangled War Stories.
