All five of her brothers died in their service, and while she did mourn their passing. She was also ashamed at their lack of strength.

During her time among the Onmitsukidō (隠密機動), she was selected to be the direct subordinate and chief of guard of Yoruichi Shihoin. Yoruichi would adopted Soi Fon as her protege, an unheard of honor beforehand and one that Soi Fon initially found very hard to accept. Even in battle, she was happy to be by Yoruichi's side. This made it even more devastating for her when Yoruichi betrayed and left the Soul Society to save her friend Kisuke Urahara.

In their fight, Soi Fon refused to fall for Ggio's taunts, but this had the reverse effect of making him angry. She ultimately destroyed him by striking him twice with Suzumebachi twice, though it appears as if it was a single hit.

With Ggio Vega dead, Soi Fon and Omeda then fought against Barragan Luisenbarn, the Segunda Espada. With his ability to control age, Soi Fon was unable to hit him. The attacks would slow just before impact. As he then touched her left shoulder, she felt the bones break in her arm. When Barragan released his zanpakutō, the same arm was rotting to the bone. She ordered Omeda to cut on her left arm before the infection could spread to her entire body.

She then had Omeda distract him while she prepared her bankai. Though she struck him with the powerful missile, Barragan was still alive as the dust cleared. Once the Visored joined the battle, Hachigen Ushōda created a barrier around Barragan to condense the force of Soi Fon's bankai. This still failed to kill him. Soi Fon's Battle Data

Soi Fon is the Captain of the 2nd Division in the Gotei 13 and the leader of the Onmitsukidō. She possesses various abilities in combat.

    • Hakuda (白打, hakuda): Hakuda is one of the four forms of martial-arts that is taught within the Soul Society. Only masters of this technique are accepted among the Onmitsukidō. Soi Fon's skill is what caught Yoruichi's attention.
    • Flash Step (瞬歩, shunpo): Flash Step is a high speed technique used by the Soul Reapers. Soifon is most likely the fastest captain currently in the 13 Court Guard, second to Yoruichi. She can use this to form visual clones of herself, and a super speed technique call Utsusemi (空蝉). This creates such a sudden burst of speed that it leaves a tangible after-image behind.
    • Kidō (鬼道, kidō): Kidō is a form of demon magic that is used in combat by the Soul Reapers. There are two forms of Kidō. Hadō for direct attacks, and Bakudō for support. Soi Fon is trained in these techniques, but it's among her lower ranked skills.
    • Shunkō (瞬閧, shunkō): The shunkō technique is an advanced technique that combines both Kidō and Hakuda martial-arts. Kidō is directed into the body to boost physical power. Though she developed this technique on her own, Yoruichi had developed this earlier but still hasn't mastered it.

    Weapons & Equipment

    Zanpakutō

The zanpakutō is the primary weapon of all Soul Reapers. Upon entering the academy, all Soul Reapers are given an Asauchi (浅打ち, asauchi), a base and nameless zanpaktō. The Soul Reaper imparts part of their very soul onto the blade. Soi Fon's zanpaktō is named Suzumebachi (雀蜂, Suzumebachi). This is likely in reference to her very hierarchical and 'wasplike' view of society and rules and regulations, as well as her waspish temperament. As a normal sword it appears as a Wakazashi with a hilt that looks akin to a chinese Dao sword.

Zanpaktō have three separate forms, but the final two can only be obtained through strict training. Not every Soul Reaper is capable of activating the final two forms.

    Shikai

    Shikai form
    Shikai form

Shikai is the first of the seals on a zanpaktō. Activating this power is gained by learning the name of the sword. This is done through extensive training. Upon speaking the name of the zanpaktō, it will take on a new form with unique abilities.

The release command is "Sting all Enemies to Death" (尽敵螫殺, Jinteki Shakusetsu). Suzumebachi's shikai form is of a gauntlet over the right arm and and a piercing stinger over the middle finger.

    • Shikai Special Ability: A special ability of Suzumebachi in shikai is called Nigeki Kessatsu (弐撃決殺). Once an opponent is struck by the stinger on Soi Fon's hand, a mark known as Bee Crest Flower (蜂紋華, hōmonka) will appear on the body. If Soi Fon strikes this mark a second time, it will kill the opponent instantly. It does this by spreading a powerful venom throughout body of the target. The entire body of the target is completely obliterated.
    • Counter-Poison: Suzumebachi's venom can also be used as an anti-venom by Soi Fon by stabbing herself.

    Bankai

    Bankai Form: Jakuhō Raikōben
    Bankai Form: Jakuhō Raikōben

Bankai is the final seal of the zanpaktō. This can only be performed using extensive training that can take years. Releasing this form will also imbue the soul reaper who can use it with enhanced abilities. Use of bankai is one of the requirements of being promoted to captain in the 13 Court Guards.

Suzumebachi's bankai is known as Jakuhō Raikōben (雀蜂雷公鞭, jakuhō raikōben). Suzumebachi takes the form of large armor that covers Soifon's entire right arm and a face shield that covers the right side of her face. Though the power of this form is highly destructive, Soi Fon is reluctant to ever use it. This is becasue she perfers to specialize in covert operations, and the power of Jakuhō Raikōben is far from subtle.

    • Bankai Special Ability: The spear that covers Sio Fon's right arm is actually a high explosive missile. Once launched the missle adopts fins that assists it in the aim of target. The impact is a devastating explosion of spirit energy. The magnitude of the blast is so great it leaves Soi Fon drained and exhausted. She can fire no more than three missiles within a day.

    Ginjōtan

The Ginjōtan (銀条反) is a steel sash worn under armor. While the weight does hinder the wearer from movement. The tremendous recoil produced by using her Bankai requires that Soi Fon be anchored to something secure using this sturdy fabric.
