Clark Kent receives a desperate call from the mind-reading teenage Ryan James (from the episode "Stray") who tells Clark that he is imprisoned in a research hospital as the subject of an experiment. Clark rescues him, but is accused of abduction of a child by Ryan's corrupt tutor, Dr. Garner. Clark learns that Ryan has a brain tumor and Clark uses his best efforts trying to save Ryan. Meanwhile, Lana is informed by Aunt Nell that she wants to move to Metropolis with Dean, but Lana wants to stay behind in Smallville. Also, the corrupt Smallville Mayor Tate asks for bribes from Lex to approve the expansion of the Luthor Corp plant.
