In every generation there one female is chosen to be the slayer. She alone will have the power to fight the forces of evil.
Origin
The First Slayer was created in an ancient tripe of African elders known as the shadowmen. They used powerful magics to fuse the heart,soul,and spirit of a demon. This granted her superhuman strength,speed,endurance,and agility. With these powers she was given the task of fighting demons and vampires.The Slayers
Because Slayers have such dangerous lives their lifespan is often very short. Because of this the Shadowmen's spell created potential slayers all around the world. When one slayer dies another one will be called(given the powers of a slayer). Because most if not all potential slayers are chosen at random the shadowmen spread out all over the world and later became known as The Watchers Council.The Slayer line
When the slayer is killed another potential slayer is called. This was the rule for thousands of years. Potential slayers walked the Earth. As these girls were in the hundreds in numbers some of them would never be called. When one of these girls are chosen The Watchers find her and train her in the duties and responsibility of the Slayer. This was until Buffy Summers became a slayer. She was killed in battle but she was brought back to life by Xander by using CPR. She still had all her slayer powers but her death was enough to trigger the next Slayer to rise. As of the last episode of BTVS all potential slayers have their powers because of Willow using the power of the scythe.Powers and Skills
Strength-Slayers are far more stronger than normal humans. They can lift things that normal humans couldn't budge. Buffy was able to life a metal gate that a group of men were unable to lift. She was also able to easily bend a steel rifle barrel (as easily as we would bend a piece of paper). Faith another slayer was able to pick up a vampire and throw him a great distance with only one hand.Reflexes-Slayers move and react faster than humans and most demons. Buffy was easily to catch an arrow in mid air as well as dodging gunfire at pointblank she was also able to set off a bear trap an not get caught in it.
Healing and Durability-Any slayer is far more durable to blunt force trauma than most humans. As stated in the series Slayers have at least if not more than 10x's the durability of humans. Though they are very durable it is not impossible to bruise them or break their bones. Buffy had her arm sprained and was shown using that same arm to kill several vampires.
