High School practical joker Steve Harmon became transformed into a being of living electroplasm during a trip to a different dimension. He is now training at Camp Hammond in the Initiative. Edit
Origins
Steve decides to get back at Winston who tattled on him, by dressing up as a clown at a carnival and throwing a pie in Winston's face. As he is about to make his move, Winston and his girlfriend are stolen by other clowns and dragged into the Hall of Mirrors. Steve follows them, not wishing ill on Winston. He finds out that these clowns are going to make a full-scaled invasion on Earth. The clowns open up a portal to Dimension X and drag Winston and his girlfriend through. Steve follows after them.
Steve comes out of the portal as a blob, right into a scientists lab. The scientists makes a pseudo-molecular stabiltrode on some gloves, then slips them onto Steve. The scientist says when Steve went through the portal, "rather than having [his] atoms scattered throughout the universe, [he] was molecularly dis-discombobulated. This transformed him into a new form of matter-- a type of living unstable molecules called electroplasm, which is totally indestructible."
The scientist gives Steve two gloves, and tells Steve he needs to stop the evil ruler of this dimension . After he stops the ruler, he saves the Earthlings, and they all go back to Earth. When Steve gets back, his friend is waiting for him, and Steve tells him everything that happened. The friend says that Steve needs a name, and after several suggestions, Steve finally comes up with Slapstick.
Personality
Slapstick is a very joyful character. He is normally in a good mood, and also normally trying to lighten the mood, or cheer up his team mates. Most of the time though, his teammates find him more annoying, than funny.
Using his cartoon-like body, he is able to further enhance his looks, to appear more humorous. It's been noted that he can have an anger problem, if pushed too far.
When Steve first got his powers, he was told he needed to use them to fight crime. Steve was disappointed at this, and said he would rather play cruel tricks on people.
At Camp Hammond his drill instructor, Gauntlet, would constantly insult the New Warriors, Slapstick's old team. One day, Slapstick snapped and beat Gauntlet with a boot outside the base. However, he was never caught because Gauntlet chose not to blame him for the act, instead blaming the Ghost, and enemy on Iron Man.
Powers and Abilities
He has similar characteristics to that of a cartoon character. Limitless durability, increased speed, stamina, strength, and reflexes. He is able to stretch similarly to Mr. Fantastic. He is also able to cheer up children quite easily. (As seen in Avengers - The Initiative #4)
Steve wears two gloves. The left glove enables Steve to go from human-form, to Slapstick form at the press of a bottom. The right glove enables to him to store infinite amount of items.
Slapstick has access to vast sub-space storage pockets, dubbed "Infinite Pockets", which give off a pink-red hue when accessed.
In his "infinite pockets", he has random stuffed toys including one of a sponge with a face, Spider-Man, a rubber chicken, duck, and frog. He also keeps a variety of weapons in there, such as: A wooden mallet, chainsaw, flail, dynamite, a shield and a sword. He also carries around several gag items, for the pranks he pulls. Such as a arrow-through-the-head hat, a boot on a stick, Eye-pop glasses, a seltzer bottle, a party horn, and a whoopie cushion. He also carries a lot of junk, such as a trombone, bowling ball and pins, among other things.
