Skirl is a member of the Green Lantern Corps. He protects Space Sector 2689. Edit
Skril was born in the jungle war of Nirdoor, surrounded by death. He has since become an activist for pacifism and one of Nirdoor's most vocal anti-war activists.
Following the Guardians voluntary withdrawal from Oa, Sinestro escaped from his imprisonment and orchestrated a series of attacks on the Green Lanterns Corp. Aligning with the mad sector 3600, Sinestro killed half of the Klyminade Green Lanterns, attacked the Green Lantern Corps of Earth, and destroyed the newly recreated Bolovax Vik; exterminating the remains of the Lantern Kilowog’s species. Sinestro was ultimately defeated by the combined efforts of the Earth and Klyminade Lanterns and taken into custody by Katma Tui Stewart who knocked Sinestro out with a furious fist of Oan energy. The Lantern Corps were called to Oa to debate the fate of Sinestro. Many Lanterns wanted to execute the renegade Sinestro for his numerous and barbaric crimes. During the trial of Sinestro, Skirl was a Green Lantern that felt killing was wrong, and that despite Sinestro's crimes, someone should speak out for life. Although Skirl’s views were given the proper respect, it was decided that Sinestro should be executed. Had the Lantern’s listened to Skirl they could have prevented the resulting destruction of the Central Power Battery which contained an unknown failsafe against the killing of any Korugarian males.
Skril reenlisted in the Corps following its second rebirth. Skril had lost political support back on Nirdoor upon being inducted into the Green Lantern Corps, as many Nirdooreans view the group as a universal tool of oppression. Skrill has been trying to dispel this negative image, but loses ground each time he displays his remarkable power.
