    Who watchs the Splotchmen?

If you enjoy the Simpsons (like I do) and have read Watchmen (if you haven't...I don't know who or what you are, but we will find you and force a book in front of you!), then you would enjoy this comic. Consider it Watchmen in the Simpson universe (which has super-identities added to some of the regular characters).

    The red stain
Knowing Watchmen, you would know of that familiar button of the comedian's which starts the story (and ends it). This parody is

great in that it pays homage to the original story while giving it that Simpson flair. This is version of the comedian, known here as the "Komedian", is none other than springfield's favorite clown (is there any other?) Krusty the Clown! Its very interesting to see him in this role. I mean, he really fits the part what with being an alcoholic and such. Seems he was a superhero in the 60s before he became whatever he is today.

Who was that mysterious masked man?
In watchmen, we had Rorschach. Here, we have Pastry Face (actully Pastry Face II as the first

one drowned in a vat of burndt cake batter). This is a cool interpretation of the character. You won't see this character in prison (like in watchmen), although there is a scene reminiscent of that with another character.

    Blue man group
Dr. Manhattan's parody is known here as "Dr. New Haven" (formally known as Professor Frink). There are some very funny moments with him. They parody the way he teleports in and out at several points, and his whole journey to Mars is actully just him going to a room at the planetarium. The way they handle the whole "cancer" scandle is actully quite clever...thats all I'm going to say.

    comic within a comic
I never really understood the comic which was within watchmen, but the comic here (featuring Radioactive man) actually relates to the plot.

    "Na na na na...Pie Man!"
Here, Homer has the alter-ego of the Pie man II. His father, Abe Simpson, was the original pie man. and Bart is Cupcake kid. This multi-generational identities are similar to the two nite owls.

The part of Laurie Juspeczyk is played by Marge. I would like to point out there was no relationship between her and Dr. New Haven, as she actully was never the Silk Spectre (though she plans to make the prize winning "french silk spectre pie recipe). Her mother was actully "Betty Firecrocker" (the equivaelnt to the first spectre), which is a little disturbing if you think about the relationship she had with the comedian...does this mean that Marge is the daughter of Krusty? weird...

    Conclusion
Without giving to much away which relates the the plot, the story is actully interesting. I won't tell you who the equivalent of Ozymandias (ok I will! its the person who shot mr. Burns! or Maggie! jk or am I?), but let me tell you its a twist. As parodies go, this is awsome! There isn't a giant alien or anything like that, but there is a pie. Great issue! Pick it up!
