    Power Cosmic !

Holy power cosmic! I knew this book was going to be special when Marvel announced the creative team of writer Dan Slott and, one of the best artists in the business; Mike Allred. However, what I was not aware of was how much zany fun this book would be. The book is so over the top and self aware that you can tell the creative team is just giggling as they write and draw this book, and I mean that in the best way possible. Why, you ask ? Well, power cosmic!

Slott's writing of this book feels rhythmic and almost out of a Dr. Seuss book. I find myself reading the words almost to the rhythm which creates a whimsical feel. This is taken to the next level of course when you add Mike Allred's art accompanied by his wife Laura Allred's colors. The art takes you back to the Jack Kirby days with crazy cosmic adventures, which gave us characters such as Fin Fang Foom (I'm serious, look it up), Galactus, and Darkside. This makes perfect sense as Jack Kirby created the Silver Surfer as well, and you would think that this kind of fun, crazy space story would go hand in hand with these characters. Sadly, these kinds of stories have been lacking in recent years, but no more! The first three issues serve as an introduction to a new character and the crazy outer rim of the Marvel universe where this book is going to make its home, because home is where the heart is... Unless of course, your heart is a monkey with symbols, because your limited human senses can't comprehend the complexity of the infinity heart. (Seriously, read the book)

This is a crazy, silly, funny, and beautiful book, and if that sounds appealing to you then I would check this book out, because like it says on the cover "Anywhere and Everywhere - Hang On!"

The Silver Surfer rides again, and this time, he is riding like a shiny Doctor Who. In an early interview, Dan Slott admitted that the current story for the Silver Surfer was one that carried a certain connection to the Doctor in Silver Surfer’s female “companion”. This episode is the finale of the first arc, ending the story of the heart of The Never Queen and Zed and his Impericon.I loved this story, and I really enjoyed that it worked as both a standalone Silver Surfer stor...

This iteration of the Silver Surfer has, as of late, been compared to Marvel's version of Doctor Who. And, honestly, it's easy to see why. A powerful deity-like being who is kind-of-but-not-quite human finds his partner, an attractive female, to take on adventures through space (and potentially time) with his magic means of transportation, defying logic and seeming to come up with an answer for everything. And perhaps this is why I'm not as big of a fan of it as everyone else. Now, before the pi...
