There is a change to Silver Sables situation, please have a look at my posts below, No.17 & 27.

My apologies to those who believe I messed up by naming who died (looks like I was wrong), I didn't see any point in not naming the person as this thread was dedicated to her forum.

If you have recently read The Amazing Spider-Man #687 you might have found out that Silver Sable died (Recently been stated to be alive). So I am starting this thread as a tribute to her. because even though she only had a supporting role in most of the Marvel comics, except when she had her own series, I always felt she played a big part in Spider-mans life.

When ever it comes to Marvel deaths, I always say they are never what they seem. But I have come across an interview with Dan Slott that seems to confirm her death and Marvel seems to be doing a tribute to her in Avenging Spider-man #8(Preview) So unless something major happened that had her surviving and having her return, it looks like this will be her final issue ever.

Final thing I will say, is I approved of how she died (Recently been stated to be alive), it was emotional, relevant and will have emotional repercussions in Spider-man's future. For a death with no relevance is a waste.

Even though I said everything above, I have had to make a change to my thinking, as her body was not located and no funeral was held, I will hold out hope that she will return. especially with what Julia Carpenter said.

Not much point putting spoiler alert in the blog post if anyone who goes onto the forums knows she's dead because of the title.

Her death was all the more shocking and emotional because it was so sudden and without warning. I mean with Johnny Storm's death, there was months of publicity hyping the fact that a member of the FF was going to die. But here, there was nothing to prepare one for what was going to happen, it was like hearing a good friend had suddenly died in a car accident.

That's not to say that Silver's death was something that Slott did on the spur of the moment; looking back, you could see that he was setting this up as far back as the time machine incident 10 issues back. And remember, it's Sable that gives the big "I would follow Spider-Man to the Ends of the Earth" speech in #685.

But what I find most intriguing and heartbreaking about Silver Sable's sacrifice is the idea that while yes, she did it to save the world and Symkaria, the ultimate reason she decided to lay down her life at that moment was because she loved Spider-Man. I mean it started with that kiss that she gave Spidey for saving NYC at the end of issue #679. Then of course there was that big moment in # 685 where, realizing that this might actually be the end of the world, she was just about to profess her love to Spidey when he let out that he already had someone he cared about.

And finally, there's Sable's last plea to him: "Please! You have to stop Octavius! Or Symkaria dies! Your New York dies! That girl you told me of, she will..." To convince him, she brings up MJ, the girl he loves, in order to get him to do what's necessary. Of course, the big unsaid there is that she's doing likewise for the person she loves- Spider-Man.

Iunno. I'm still pretty torn up about her death. I hope Avenging Spider-Man on Wednesday brings some closure to this.

@Htb106: he shouldn't have said who died in the title in the first place. Thats what we meant by spoiler alerts. He just screwed up the surprise for a great deal of people.

While I agree it's up in the air whether she's actually dead, I think that final line was definitely Pete reflecting on Sable.

@k4tzm4n I don't know about definite, I'd say it's open to interpretation. Peter takes death very personally, even of his rogues (as evidenced by him saving Otto) and he really tried saving Rhino over the years and almost did during the events of The Gauntlet so I think he would take his death pretty hard, especially since he'd likely feel that he let Aleskei down. I'd say it's entirely possible Peter would have already looked for Sable and found her alive off-panel, or at least I'd like to think that's in his character to do.

    Just Read Avenging Spider-Man #8

Looks like Marvel did it again with the red herrings (even Dan Slott seemed to have been one with the interview he gave), I feel the idiot to start this thread without waiting to read Avenging Spider-Man #8. There was no body, no funeral, except for a small inkling of something in the last panel of the issue.

With that, I give apologies to everyone for being an unwitting accomplice to this apparent Marvel subterfuge. With their history of pulling something like this, I should have known better.

So what has Marvel got up its sleeves this time involving Silver Sable, maybe something in issue 700 or even something involving this new Alpha character appearing in issue 692 (could be she is Alpha). Knowing them, they will not make this easy.

I should note, although I am miffed I fell for another one of these, I am happy for her possible survival.

What might this mean for Spider-man.

The best way I feel for this to impact him is to have him to believe she died, this way he will go through the emotional turmoil associated with, affecting his performance and relationships and then have her return at the 11th hour.

Another heroine who has expressed her feelings for Spider-Man in addition to Ms. Marvel and Spider-Woman(secretly). This also includes the Black Cat! But I feel that The Black Widow and The She-Hulk have hidden feelings for Spidey as well.

I have come across another interview with Dan Slott by Newsarama answering questions about Silver Sables role and her apparent death

    Interview with Dan Slott

    Quote from interview

Newsarama: Dan, before we talk about what's coming up in Amazing Spider-Man, let's look back a bit at "Ends of the Earth," which just came to a close. Silver Sable played a major role after not being a part of the Spidey books for years. What motivated using her?

Dan Slott: We didn't use her all through "Brand New Day," but she’s been around. Dan and Andy used her over in Heroes for Hire; she's been around. Starting with the two-part time door story, we brought her back into Spidey's world.

Nrama: Plus, her real name is "Silver Sablinova," which is obviously great.

Slott: "Silver Sablinova." We kept calling her that for a lot of "Ends of the Earth." That's the true mark of a great character, like “Jack Russel” or "E. Nygma."

Nrama: And speaking of Silver Sable, I'll go ahead and be somewhat presumptuous that even though...

Slott: Killed her! She’s dead, Albert, dead!

Nrama: ... her and Rhino are presumed dead at this point, we haven't seen their bodies, so there's surely more to the story. Will we see an update on that situation soon?

Slott: There’ll be a character coming up who will address more Silver Sable stuff. I don't know if it's stuff that fans will want to hear.

    Hi everyone

Came across ASM issue 699s (set for December 5th) solicit synopsis and thought I'd mention it, nothing conclusive but still might be something.

Also you might want to take a look at issue 700. Don't know if it's true, or one of Marvels games they like to play on us poor readers. Regarding this I started a thread here so that you may voice your thoughts on it.

Just wanted to let every know a preview of ASM issue 700 has been uploaded to Comic Book Resourceand seem to depict Silver Sable as officially dead

Personally I still believe the latter considering what Julia Carpenter said could still be in play. As for the preview I believe (at least I'd like to believe) it's his subconscious fighting, rather than him being where he thinks he is.

in case anyone forgot what Julia Carpenter said here it is

Well now I'm even more confused (probably in part because you say there's a preview of ASM 700 from CBR that confirms her dead but you didn't link to the actual preview from which you ascertained that o_O).

If this was a real death it's the sloppiest, most hair-pulling one I've yet seen. You can't just say "nope, she's still alive" and then act like that never happened.

@akbogert: Hope this helps re-leave the confusion, the preview you saw in issue 700 was actually Peters mind, imaging heaven, and at the time he still believed Sable was dead.

I asked Slott about this and guess what, that's right he answered and this is what he said in his own cryptic way, not the capitals put a little umff into saying them.

-We've only seen that Julia Carpenter has SAID Silver Sable is alive. But that was after a long pause. And that COULD mean she was lying.Peter even wondered if that was the case. And since we saw Sable in Peter's mind-- when he was imagining heaven-- Peter believed she was dead.

@animehunter: Yes, I've seen that quote earlier (so I must have come up against this before? haha). But it doesn't answer much for me (also I haven't seen the preview in 700 because you didn't link to a preview and I've never read 700...).

Peter believing she was dead does not make her dead.

Saying that a person who "knows" that she's alive "could" have been lying does not make her dead.

My prior point still stands. If she's really dead, having a character explicitly state she's not dead, having that character's honesty questioned, and having that character repeat emphatically that she's telling the truth, is incredibly stupid.

@akbogert: You could be right. To me if a body hasn't been recovered and you have Julia, who can see the future by the way, saying she's alive, gives me some hope that she will return. In short if there is no definitive proof she is dead, then I am always going to be someone who says she'll return.

As for the dream sequence "imagining heaven" here you are, Sable is on page 3

    @animehunter: Ah. Thank you.

Yeah, with someone after her death actually saying "I see her future and she is not dead," and especially with that (non-)death happening off-panel, I'm willing to assume she's alive. Granted, again, I have not read ASM. But it seems odd that they would actually kill her (and Rhino) so nonchalantly and undefinitively. I think there's massive room for someone to do a flashback to what happened after Peter left. It wouldn't even be messing with continuity. It just makes sense.

@animehunter: Yeah, I mean I guess they could say she overpowered him or something and got out while he died (and he'd kind of have had it coming at that point). But that'd be kind of silly, to revisit the scene and only save one of the two high-potential characters.

As for him being listed as dead, now that I didn't know. let's not forget Marvel have a back habit of misleading it readers, even going as far as saying "officially" they're dead when in reality they aren't.

They did it with Wasp. Hell they even showed her playing the slots in a casino in the afterlife in a Hercules issue but guess what she came back: Janet Returning? (possible spoiler)

@punyparker: "Right" probably wouldn't be the word I'd use. She knows whether she's telling the truth. So it's more honest/lying than right/wrong.

...but again, just from a meta standpoint, it's bad editorial to have a character say something like this about someone everyone had already accepted was dead if she really is dead.

They did it with Wasp. Hell they even showed her playing the slots in a casino in the afterlife in a Hercules issue but guess what she came back: Janet Returning? (possible spoiler)

I was happy Janet came back but yeah, that was ridiculous. What does it take for writers to just do a little bit of homework, or even just honour how a character was left as and try to work with it when bringing them back on panel.

Adam. It's Marvel. Just...it's Marvel. Don't tell me you still are surprised at the stunts they pull?

Possibly some good news, regarding the possible return of Sable

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, LET THIS ASSUMPTION BE TRUE

Another teaser from Marvel - "ASSASSIN"

Another possible connection to Superior and, the reason for my excitement,

    SILVER SABLE :D:D:D:D:D:D

Update: The Marvel teasers keep pouring in, promising a multitude of announcements for the second round of "Marvel NOW!" coming at New York Comic Con. The latest, to be announced at the Superior Spider-Man & Friends panel says simply "ASSASSIN" in bold silver lettering. Zeb Wells and Mike Del Mundo are the creative team for the latest tease, but that doesn't really tell us much.

The silver lettering, word, and panel certainly makes us lean towards Silver Sable :D:D:D:D. As a character that died (hey, it's comics) in battle with Otto Octavius, her return now would certainly be interesting timing. Of course, there's always Hit-Monkey(personal note, BETTER NOT BE)

Unfortunately my hopes of Sable returning have been dashed as it was revealed at the NYCC......

    From CBR

Another announcement, paying off the "Assassin" teaser: A new "Elektra" series starting in March, from writer Zeb Wells and artist Mike Del Mundo. It's Elektra on a journey by herself, away from Daredevil, Amanat says, with the character becoming "the Dexter of assassins." Amanat adds that Del Mundo is doing things with the interior art that she's never seen before, and that Elektra's costume will the same -- though they're "covering up her butt a little bit."

    From Newsarama

Finally, the teaser featuring the word "Assassin," with Zeb Wells and Mike Del Mundo: Elektra #1. Amanat said Elektra is back, and "what's so wonderful about this storyline is that is references some of what Frank Miller and Bill Sienkiewicz did. We're trying to show who Elektra is, when she no longer has the one person in her life that means more than anything else - Daredevil. Who is Elektra when she goes off on this journey by herself?" The story features Elektra trying to kill a guild of assassins. The book is due out March 2014.

"You wanted more female solo titles," Amanat said. "This is it."

From Amazing Spider-Man v4 #2, as you can see the Rhino is alive, which add to everything else would indicate that there is a very high possibility that she is alive as well and we will see her soon.
