And once again I have to buy other issues of other series to see what's what. I don't blame Bendis, it's clear that Marvel should somehow warm up interest and earn money, but it's starting cross the line. Think for yourself - after reading Siege #2 it stayed only the murder scene in my head, which was pretty unnecessary. Brian wants to emulate Loeb's Ultimatum, in other words, just killing characters  for killing characters. I mean, is this sufficient for 3.99? Like the first issue - absolutely empty comic we got here this week. And what's more offensive - this series claims to be an EVENT. The one which have been developing for 7 years. But it does not feel that way! It's like if Quesada, Bendis & @#$*%! Loeb gathered together and wrote the script for the night. Marvel has forgotten how to play fair...

Siege continues to bring the sweet in a very unpredictable way in issue 2.
there are allot of small, annoying things in this issue. for starters, it seemed like the war was being waged by foot soldiers on both sides, while all the actual big names just kinda stood around and watched the big brawl between Sentry and Ares. It also seemed like Osborn's suit is a piece of crap, as he got hit with simple projectiles twice in the issue with little to no warning. Comon man! if your radar can sense a superhero flying at high velocity from miles away, but cant sense a bazooka shot from the back of a pickup truck until a millisecond before your getting hit by it, you've got some tweeking to do...
There was alot of epic though. The counter-strike team brought together by Steve Rogers looked like the kind of team thrown together in a "Avengers: Unconventional" thread, and that aint a bad thing. I'm very excited to see how they stack up against the Initiative, and who (coughcoughPATRIOTcoughcough...) might die in the fray. I'm also massively giddy with anticipation  to see Nick Fury back in some serious action. next issue? fingers are indeed crossed.
Basically what your looking at in this issue is a death, a massive display of power, and some interesting set up that should guarantee that issues 3 & 4 will be completely epic.
oh, and lets not forget those EPIC sound bubbles. someone really enjoyed making those.
4and a half stars. Idk why, but this issue was really good for me.

I've been collecting comic on and off for about 20 years and i jsut came back earlier this year after about 7 or 8 years off (i stopped right after Jean Grey died).  So i wasnt actively collecting during Disassembled, House of M, Decimation, Civil War, or Secret Invasion but i decided to pick everything back up and see where we were.  Siege is the first Marvel U (as opposed to X-universe which i picked up again with Utopia) crossover i have picked up brand new from the shelves and i am NOT disappointed.

The lead-in's were vague but engaging (suspense and build up? thats just crazy talk) and the first issue big stuff at the beginning and at the end with a lot of talking in the middle (not a complaint, it was all neccesary IMHO) and then BAM! Issue #2! Almost non stop action with beautifully drawn fight scenes and just enough between scenes low key talking to get us set up for whats gonna happen next when Cap's "Avengers" get mixed up in there.

The art was great, the story is moving perfectly and smoothly (everyone is complaining about too much action OR too much plotting and they are missing the fact that these issues have had a perfect blend of action, political intrigue, back story, build up, with even a respectable pay off).  They promised us an Avengers would die and they delivered...now i have to say that their choice of Avengers to kill, i felt, was a little too easy and a bit of a cop out considering the build up and anticipation of "an avenger will die" but it was still an amazing scene!  The fight was raging, the panels were dynamic and exciting, and while i dont approve with the choice of dead avengers the death shot itself was something else.  It was brief and sudden but effective and striking.

All in all this crossover seems like an amazing tie up to the 7 year storyline started in Disassembled (i mean once the heroes break up, lose credit, get invaded and a super villain maniac starts running everything, whats left to do besides invade Gods).   Lastly, i think this cross over has been an excellent place to start back up for readers who have taken time away (especially since it leads into an Avengers reboot).

I was so excited for this issue I didn't even read the synopsis slash summary thing...An Avenger Dies!!! I didn't know that so yea this was even better for me...because I'm impatient/dumb. I was actually liking Ares, he was given depth, sort of. A Warrior trying to connect with his son and give him a life (childhood) he never had. Seeing Ares in a few issues watch his son in action or speak about his son really brought him into a new light (a Secret Warriors issue Ares eye lit up when his son Alex went Phobos on Osborn, you could tell Ares was proud....but that is one of the few examples of his latest depth and development) but this issue finally sets the stage for the  GINORMOUS battle that's about to happen, but i question how fleshed out this confrontation will be in only 4 issues, though the tie ins may assist I still worry if the battle and its consequences will be rushed. We know Norman and his organization will crumble due to this but how will it be done in 2 issues and a few tie ins. This issues makes me really dislike Sentry he has been overshadowed and overlooked when his complexities and powers really make him interesting but how has Norman really harnessed Bob "Million 'Splodin Suns" Reynolds and will it last. This issue is only here to get us pumped for the big "good" guys versus "bad" guys the final page is awesome, no words just the same shot with a little extra.......ITS GREAT

There's a fight scene between Ares and the Sentry in this issue that is awespriring. the legendary god of warfare is somehow outmanoeuvred by the sentry and is eventually ripped him up. My favourite part is when steve rogers, the original captain america now reborn, rallies the troops against osbourne's war on asgard which you have to admit does do the character justice. very starightforward, excellent art work.
