Shvaughn than was escorted by Element Lad through the complex passages of the Legion Headquarters they came to discover that the young patient named Danial Foccart , whom Brainiac 5 was experimenting  on healing,  unleashed the evil C.O.M.P.U.T.O.  Taking complete control  of the Legion's HQ., the Legionnaire's  and Shvaughn were taxed in escaping his machinations, and rescuing  Foccart  in the process.  This would become Shvaughn's christening into the Legion, and the beginning of a complex relationship with Element Lad.

However as time went on, in a strange unfolding of events, Shvaughn turned out to be a man named Sean. Shvaughn  had been taking a gender-changing drug called Pro-Fem as a teenager because he thought it was the only way Element Lad would love him. During the invasion by the Dominators and the dilution of the Legion, Shvaughn was unable to obtain anymore Pro-Fem. After a painful time going through physical withdrawals and changing back to a male gender, Sean soon discovered that Jann had been at odds with his own sexuality, coming out to Shvaughn as a homosexual. The two finally came clean with all their secret misgivings and started to create a truly real relationship for the first time since they met years before. Happiness was short lived for Sean and Jann due to the onset of Zero Hour, which erased them from DC continuity.
