Need A Little Perspective In Life

    The Story:

This is a story about everyday choices we're faced with but with a unique spin put on it.

    My Thoughts:

This is another Aspen Comics series created by Michael Turner. It's written by Turner and Frank Mastromauro. The concept is simple. They focus on everyday choices you're faced with. They add a unique spin to it by having these two voices (Ange and Dev- short for Angel and Devil obviously) bickering back and forth between each other as they try to persuade the main character named Theo from doing right and wrong. It's fun story full of laughs, action and suspense that's unlike anything I've ever read.

The characters are what make this comic so much fun to read. It's an odd assortment of characters (as seen on the cover) that somehow work when thrown together. It's a wacky idea you wouldn't think could work, but the writers pull out all the stops and deliver an entertaining story that is completely unpredictable keeping you on the edge of your seat and your nose deep in the story. The story becomes more thrilling by the issue, as what started out as a young kid hearing voices he simply didn't understand, turns into a battle for the entire planet with him as their best chance to survive.

The art is by Micah Gunnell whose style resembles that of Michael Turner's. The art here maintains the same level of quality found in all of Aspen Comics series they publish. The colors are soft but vibrant, which bring this extraordinary world of Perspecta to life. I loved the whole style finding its cartoonish vibe to be a suitable fit for this unorthodox story. The extensive cover gallery at the end was a nice added bonus.

Shrugged proved to be a nice change of pace from my traditional style of comics I usually read. I don't regret picking it up at all. It's as nice reminder of how fun comics can be when you don't have to worry about things such as continuity or keeping up with a million different series to follow a story.
