This issue has three stories. They deal with Joker, Gunfire and a Metron/ Orion story. The Metron/Orion story ends here but the other two are picked up in the next book. Below is a list of the stories

The Great Pretender

This is the Joker story and it starts with the Joker and his goons committing a particularly heinous crime then everything goes black and there is a modern/fantasy story that has a man wake up in this strange world and is trying to make sense of a King Joker and a daemon Batman, all the while believing himself to be the Joker.

State of Siege Part One

This is the Gunfire story and it seem to pick up shortly after he got his powers. He relives his origin and is cleaning up his company from the alien invasion that happened during that time. Just as he is starting to get things under control the company is attacked by a terrorist group calling themselves the Oblivion Front.

New Gods

Metron contemplates the Source Wall and is interrupted by Orion. Metron has the whole thing planned and things don't go well for Orion as he meets Ligea a woman whom he saves from the Source Wall
