    Background:

    Attempting to put an end to a civil war on Tumbla IV, Shingo Wol's intervention only caused the two factions to turn on him.  Soon, the Green Lantern was dying as his enemies overcame him in a twenty hour battle.  As he was dying, he hallucinated that suddenly his power ring could overcome its yellow impurity and he was winning the fight.  Unfortunately, this was not the case. As Shingo Wol died, his power ring's charged depleted, and his enemies simply turned and walked away.  Shingo Wol is memorialized in the Crypts of Oa alongside other fallen members of the Green Lantern Corps.
