Shield
I don't really know about you, but i for one have been really looking forward to Hickman's Shield. I want to start of by saying that Weaver and Strain's work on the art is absolutely amazing, really blew me away. now to the story. I'm sure most people who are into comics know about the organization of Shield, which for those who don't know Shield is/was the top global peacekeeping organization in the Marvel U. Shield was initially formed and led by Nick Fury to combat the growing threat of terrorists groups such as Hydra and the Hand after World War 2, It has recently been under the reigns of Maria Hill, Tony Stark, as well as been disbanded by Norman Osborn. However what we see here in this story by Jonathan Hickman is that the story of Shield stretched farther back into ancient civilization. however the issue flashes back and forth between historical figures like Da Vinci who were members of shield and a boy named Leonid. We don't know what this boy has to do with Shield other than the fact that his father was a member up until his passing; and the fact that Leonid has some part to play in preventing the destruction of the human race.
What I liked?: The Art, Leonardo Da Vinci
What could be worked on?: I really didn't really have any problems with this issue. While I do really enjoy Hickman's writing i am still very unsure as to where exactly this story is going, the story is kinda set up like LOST in the sense we have flashes between the past and "present" so it can get a little confusing ast to what is going on, for example one minute we have a kid joining a secret orginization and in the next Gallilio is trying to stop Galactus from stomping around. so while there can be the urge to ask oneself what is going on it is only minor and should not stop one from checking what Shield is about.
Overall: A great issue! Shield definitely had everything I would like to see in a comic book, great art, writing. i just really would like to know where all of this is leading to?
5/5 awesomeness!
