Leonardo Da Vinci was an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. So was Issac Newton. So were Imhotep and Zhang Heng and Galileo and many other geniuses throughout time. They were the first heroes to defeat Galactus and the Brood and turn Celestials back. They saved the world long before Captain America or Iron Man were ever born, but what does this mean to our heroes of today? What does this mean to Nick Fury? Do not miss this Marvel Comics masterpiece that fans will be talking about for decades to come. All the insanity is courtesy of JONATHAN HICKMAN (FANTASTIC FOUR, SECRET WARRIORS, Nightly News) and DUSTIN WEAVER (X-MEN).1953: Leonid is taken from New York by Howard Stark and Nathaniel Richards to the Immortal City under Rome where he meets the High Council of the SHIELD, led by Isaac Newton.

2620BC: in Egypt, Imhotep leads an army including Apocalypse to defeat a Brood invasion, founding SHIELD in the process.

Back in the 50’s, Isaac Newton introduces Leonid to SHIELD and its higher calling. They describe how man can know the future: The Greater Science, The Quiet Math, The Silent Truth, The Hidden Arts and The Secret Alchemy. They tell him he will ‘stand in the gap.’

114AD Luoyan, China: Zhang Heng ascends a high tower with a SPEAR, and converses with a female Celestial.

1495 Florence: Leonardo DaVinci sees a shape within the Sun. By 1503 he has built a flying suit that allows him to fly into space

1582 Rome: Galileo builds a large laser weapon to defeat Galactus

1956: Leonid’s father, Nikola Tesla, The Night Machine appears (accompanied by a dove) and tells Leonid he’s come to tear the place to the ground. He takes Leonid to Iter, the door that can’t be opened and gives him the special key that opens it.

Howard and Nathaniel confront Nikola, confused that he is not dead. Ascending some stairs, Leonid meets Leonardo DaVinci in his flying suit.

S.H.I.E.L.D. #1 0

The first issue in this new series. Written by Jonathan Hickman and drawn by Dustin Weaver. This comic was a pretty good read. I mean we get this new secret origin of S.H.I.E.L.D. that we never knew, and we find out that this organization has been around for over 4 thousand years. Wow. I've never really read any previous S.H.I.E.L.D. comics in the past, but i'd have to say that this comic was well did. In this issue we meet a guy named Leonid in 1953 and he gets taken from his life and entered i...

Shield 0

I want to start of by saying that Weaver and Strain's work on the art is absolutely amazing, really blew me away. now to the story. I'm sure most people who are into comics know about the organization of Shield, which for those who don't know Shield is/was the top global peacekeeping organization in the Marvel U. Shield was initially formed and led by Nick Fury to combat the growing threat of terro...

A Great First Issue 0

What you need to know: Brand new series, by rising writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Dustin Weaver, that details the history of S.H.I.E.L.D.The Good:- I love comic books that have some depth to them. It's part of what draws me to a book like Secret Warriors which is also written by Hickman. There's just so many layers and so much potential here.- The art by Weaver is great. It's clean, it's whimsical, and a great blend of historical detail and sci-fi fantasy. I was just really impressed by Weav...
