While this is purely a rumor, if true, it is a step in the right direction for the Captain America movie sequel. With the Thor movie sequel well underway, and the release of Iron Man 3 just around the corner, what is happening with the sequel to Captain America? Who will be cast? What characters can fans expect to see?

You might recall actress Hayley Atwell's appearance in the Captain America: The First Avenger movie last year where she played Cap's first love, Peggy Carter. Now that The Avengers film has set the precedent and brought Cap from the past and into the present day, chances are the leading love interest in the sequel is likely to be Sharon Carter. But who will play the part? Although the film is not scheduled to be released until April 4th, 2014, rumor has it that the star of ABC's 'Revenge' actress Emily VanCamp is in talks to appear in the film. Is she in talks to simply be a random pretty face in the sequel, or could we be looking at the next Sharon Carter? The film currently does not have a start date to begin shooting but is said that it will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

So is VanCamp right for the part? Well, if you have ever seen 'Revenge' you might recall the actress executing some pretty elaborate fight choreography for the show, so there is a good chance she would be great for the part of a butt-kicking, beautiful Sharon Carter. What do you think? Who else do you want to see appear in the film?

I guess I'm the only one who wants to see the sequel... Well I can't wait, the 1st CA movie was awesome.

Why don't they just get Hayley Atwell to play Sharon Carter? Hasn't it been mentioned that Sharon looks a lot like peggy? So it wouldn't be that much of a stretch.

I always assumed that was what Marvel Studios planned all along. Just make Atwell a blonde and I think you're set.

Really. Huh. I'm a HUGE fan of Revenge and she definitely has the badass factor and the physicality, but she's not a pick that I would have thought of.

My dreamcast for Sharon Carter is Ali Larter.

I can see her as Sharon.

I can definitely see Emily portraying Sharon. She would be good in the role but im shocked they didnt simply have Hayley play Sharon Carter.

I like Amanda Righetti. I was kinda hoping the random SHIELD agent at the end of Captain America that looked a whole lot like Peggy would be Sharon and she would hang on to the role.

I do like Emily VanCamp...but I dunno if I can really picture her as Sharon. Though, I never could wrap my mind around Chris Evans as Steve Rogers either until the movie came out...

But, also...I wish they'd just bring Haley Atwell back.

i hope sharon is hot so this would be good from that stand point. but never watched the show so dont know if she can portray the character right

I hate to criticize girls' looks, but neither she nor Hayley Atwell is attractive at all. I have no problem criticizing their acting ability though: neither has any. I found the first Cap movie completely unwatchable, and I was hoping this one might be like most of the other Marvel movies. I hope I won't need to wait till Avengers 2 to see Cap in a decent movie again.

Ali Larter is indeed one of many good choices to play Sharon, but as with all comic movies I'd rather they leave the love interest out than have her there just to get captured and rescued.

Could be surprised when I see the movie, but as of now, I'm unimpressed.

Can everyone stop with the haley atwell suggestions? Just because in the comics they're meant to look like each other does not mean they are doppelgänger nor do they even have to have some resemblance in the movieverse!!!!!

Emily may be a bit young looking but I guess it's not that bad of a casting. I doubt this is true since Revenge is doing incredibly well right now and she is the lead actress, therefore is unlikely to leave that show for a CA sequel.

Also I thought the full cast list for CA2 was announced? And aren't they just going with Black Widow and Maria Hill instead of adding Sharon?

I hate to be a negative Nancy, but I'm not really a big fan of her's after watching Brothers & Sisters and a few episodes of Revenge.

I was actually really hoping it would be Amanda Righetti to be Sharon Carter. She played a small role when Cap woke up in The First Avenger and then broke free.

But I'd like to see what Emily can do...

Ali Larter is too old for the role.

Dianna Argon could work well as Sharon Carter.

I think Emily VanCamp could to a good at this. I think Dianna Agron would be too petite for Sharon Carter. You need someone athletic looking for the part.

currently watching Revenge, i think shes an excellent choice.

If they are not goinig to go with Hayley Atwell then I think Emily VanCamp could be a good choice to play Sharon Carter.

@Spartnqbrn: Were you asking that question to me or RedHeadedAtrocitus? If me, Kayla Ewell played Vicki Donovan from Vampire Diaries. She was pretty good in that show. And RedHeaded Atrocitus is referring to Amanda Righetti, the girl who played the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who was there when Cap woke up at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger.

I think she could work. I also think Alice Eve would be a decent fit too. Truth is I've been pretty happy with all of Marvel's casting decisions so really who ever they go with will be fine by me.

Emily Van Camp is BOSS!!!! So stoked. She plays bad-ass hardcore. PUMPED!

Honestly if she was less of a stiff actress I would have loved to see January Jones play Sharon Carter. Either way I loved the first movie and Winter Soldier is one of my favorite characters so the 2nd movie will probably be even better than the first for me!!!

I've always thought that Sharon Carter was that waitress in the Avengers movie.

@sentryman555: I have literally been hoping for that since I found out they cast Hayley Atwell as Peggy. I thought "They can cast her as Sharon too since they look so much alike!" I think it'd be a great way to establish an attraction between them without going into a lot of back story plus I think they had such great chemistry and Hayley is a great actress.
