    mtharman's Shadowland #1 - Chapter 1 review

The beggining of a war for our favorite urban heroes.

    The Story:
Shadowland would be in the protection of the Hand and their new leaders, Daredevil. But something has changed about Daredevil as his tactics are becoming more aggressive and brutal towards crime to where it starts getting the attention of other heroes to investigate. But when the psychotic killer known as Bullseye escapes custody and decides to hunt down Daredevil, events start to unravel as we see a new side of Daredevil and things become much more worse.

    The Good:
    - The fight scene between Daredevil and Bullseye was EPIC, when I got this issue I would find myself rewarded with a new and different fight between these two. Seeing Bullseye finally fighting the Hand and actually seeing a side of him that caught me by suprise when he see's Daredevil's different personality. Bullseye's reaction and instant fear has actually answered a long and fitting question to Bullseye's action and motives of just being an emotional bulley and using the superhero code of no killing against Daredevil.
    - I like the build up that this issue is giving, seeing whos going to be involved and actually seeing your dream fights only a couple issues away would probably have you excited on whos going to fight next and how its going to happen.
    - The inside comic art I liked, despite the glitches ive spotted here and there, the three artists responsible, mostly Billy Tan did and outstanding job in bring this issue out.

    The Bad:
    - Almost all comics ive read would have glitches here and there that I would naturally spot out, but this issue would have alot. You may notice them and you may not, and you may not care.

    The Ugly:
    - For an event that is good for what its trying to be, the cover art doesn't really fit this comic very well. My definition of cover art is that it should be awesome, I mean its just one big picture and you should not go wrong at all. Cover art should be perfect and posterized awesome, but the cover art for this issue was really displayed as middle school sketched doodle.  The anatomy is off, the lighting is wrong, and the art really looks too basic, like it was done in a Microsoft Paintshop, with no mixing of the colors or anything.

    The Conclusion:

When I first read this comic, I hated it because of the unexplained storyline that followed it and I would also love it because of the fight scene between Bullseye and Daredevil. This comic would naturally present itself in a Black and White veiw, either you hate it or love it. It depends on what you like and what you expect from a comic, to many fans I can see why this issue was rewarding.
Interaction between the Marvel characters and dream fights, this comic would find itself being displayed as a fanbase event. Fans want to see EPIC fights and their favorite characters more involved, then lets give it to them.
After trying to find out why this comic was awesome to many people, I would find myself excited to see how the events would turn out and who would be fighting each other.

I can't promise if you would love this issue or not, but besides the cover, it is an awesome event for what its trying to be. If your more focused on the storyline or the artwork, then I would suggest giving the first issue a try from this event and see if you'll like or not. I would say its okay, but it actually depends on your interest and expectations from a comic.

As for me, im looking foward to another Kingpin vs Daredevil fight, and a Punisher vs Spiderman fight.

A Good But Not Great Start 0

It is rare that Marvel does a big story involving its street level heroes and rarer that the story isn't a Spider-centric one. This fact alone makes Shadowland really exciting. Daredevil has staked claim on Hell's Kitchen like a brutal feudal lord, and Marvel's street heroes have to take sides. It has all the makings of a street level civil war, and this first issue sets the scene as Daredevil makes where he stands now very clear for the rest of the Marvel Universe.  I was originally disappointe...

No More Mister Nice Devil: Shadowland #1 0

Ok first of all let me say, I love the art direction. Billy Tan is perfect for Shadowland. Second of all the ending was a long time coming. Daredevil killing Bullseye was the best ending to this book I could have dreamed of. For the most part this was as good as a first issue could possibly be. They let you know who the players where, they set up the first issue and the issues to come and we got some action in there. So Shadowland is basically a huge prison for Daredevil and the Hand's targets. ...
