It seems the biggest problem with the Sentry is that several writers have written him (Bendis, Jenkins, Pak, Hine, Parker, etc.) and each writer has a different take on him. The Sentry really needs one writer to clearly define both his personality and powers. And I think all three personas should get equal exploration. Robert Reynolds should be the focus, and Sentry and Void should be personas that he stuggles with. To me, Robert is the most interesting of the three and he has been explored the least.
Which writer do you think should give us the definitive Sentry for other writers to follow/build on? My vote goes to Greg Pak. He did a great job establishing Robert & Sentry as separate yet the the same entity. And I like that he made only a passing reference to the Void in WWH.
Sentry
Character » Sentry appears in 966 issues.
After ingesting an experimental super-soldier formula, the lowly Robert Reynolds became the Sentry, if only in his mind. In constant battle with his dark side known as the Void, the Sentry has been forgotten and dead, he has resurrected and vanished. Even if he is one of earth's greatest heroes, he is also one of the world's greatest dangers.
What has been the best portrayal of the Sentry so far?

I thought the Void was a figment of the Sentry's imagination or a sepaarate personality, but somehow it became real like in the Dark Half by Stephen King.
"i've liked what i've seen of him in Dark Avengers so far"He didn't do anything. He ripped Morgan Le Fay's head off than got blown up...

I would love to see Warren Ellis take a turn on Sentry. His work with the Thunderbolts showed that he is pretty good at showing bizarre and complex characters with skeletons in their closets. I think he could probably pull off the inner conflict thing very well. Would be very good and VERY dark like it is expected from a person that suffers multiple personality disorder.
